Due to COVID-19, they receive orders through text messages (you need to include your order and your care make/model and color). I went and parked in front of the restaurant, picked up the menu from the mailbox and ordered my food. The lady was friendly and delivered my order to my car. I ordered OVEN TOASTED STEAK SANDWICH with ARTICHOKE & ASIAGO DIP WITH BREAD. I really loved my sandwich; the steak tasted great and was perfectly cooked. I didn't like the dip though; it had too much garlic in it. I would come back to try more of their panini's and pastas. read more

I've had this place on my radar to give a try whenever I was next in the area. I tried the veal Parmigiana loaded hot. The sandwich was huge with plenty of veal and a savory sauce combined with provolone cheese and hot peppers made for an excellent sandwich which really hit the spot. Finally got down there to try their big veal sandwich! Wow! No longer missing the amazing mom n pop shop that I used to go to in downtown T.O.! The bread is super-fresh, the veal amazingly tender (and piled high!) and just the right amount of sauce, mushrooms and peppers (I got the hot loaded, rather than the sweet loaded). During the day this is a cafe, but at 5:45 PM from Thursday to Saturday the location transforms into the Back Door restaurant, open since mid-2011. We dined here recently and very much enjoyed their rendition of tasty Italian food. My Chicken Piccata was excellent and the Tiramisu was the best I've ever tasted. They don't advertise, and entering the restaurant feels like going through a secret door. Inside, the decor is inviting and modern, a stark contrast to the strip mall location. It's great to finally have a really good restaurant in this part of Kitchener. Their approach is fresh and their food delicious. Make a reservation and try it out! read more

Back for Muffaletta. Sometimes it is best to just go with what you love. This is, quite frankly the best sandwich on the planet. I did try the PLT a few weeks ago as well - nice but.......... Not a Muffaletta. If you like the salty/brine taste of black olives with fresh Italian cold cuts and provolone then this is a must. This review is for the back door, which is located through the door around the back of nostra cucina. It's aptly named. Everything about the restaurant is fabulous. Great ambiance, the wait staff is incredible and they make their own pasta. I love their spaghetti and meatballs, their back door salad and the tuscan onion soup. Just go. The veal panini was delicious and huge. Check the photos for proof. I was here for a late lunch. It's a small lunch setting - a couple of tables and some bar seating at the cash. Very take-out feel. I was surprised that they didn't serve coffee, I expected espresso at an Italian eatery. No wifi either. The Art shop next door has espresso drinks and wifi. So headed over after my meal. read more

Hubs and I went in for the first time today and tried their veal panini and meatball panini. So delicious! His sandwich had a THICK serving of veal in perfect heartwarming tomato sauce. Their bread was just as yummy and the sandwiches were not soggy when we brought them back home... Super important in my book :). My meatball sandwich was huuuge but I thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing and almost didn't want to let hubs have bites to taste! We already can't wait to come back and try everything else on the menu. The woman working when we came was super nice and such an awesome person! You can tell she loves what she does. Nostra Cucina has by far the best Italian food I have ever tasted. The menu is small, but that is because everything down to the noodles is made from scratch, in house. The pricing is also fantastic for the food you receive. The last time I was there I had the Fettucini Alfredo, which had the most amazing alfredo sauce. It was the perfect thickness, the perfect amount of cheese, the perfect EVERYTHING. The noodles were also cooked exactly right. The Tiramisu I had for dessert absolutely blew my mind, and the main waitress there is one of the friendliest, most delightful people I have met. She makes you laugh, and makes you feel at home, which is only aided by the cozy, relaxed setting of the restaurant itself. I cannot recommend this place enough.
