The had comics for half a centuries ago to most recent versions. There were comics of all popular, lesser known, smaller, bigger all sorts of varieties. In front side of the store, there were kids versions too. Other than comic, they also had posters, pop art figurines, neon superhero signs and few other things. The store was mostly organized and boxes were labelled. But needed a lot of patience to dig through their giant inventory. Some of the most sought after ones were placed on the wall shelves by the register. My daughter picked couple of Sonic books. The staff member was friendly and quickly did the checkout. They accepted cash and cards. While we were at the store, we saw many comic fans coming into the store. They do not allow drinks and food being carried around. There's a table in front for guests to leave them while walking around the store.

This gem is still located in the heart of the SGV. Thanks to the kind owners it remains an outlet for a different form of entertainment. Both English and Chinese manga are available, and custom orders can be made. There are quite a few series that are hidden gems, and the owners are very helpful with any questions. It's clean, organized, reasonably priced and even has a large meeting room for events for manga loving fans.

The emphasis, though, is primarily new and recent comics. Passing through on a rainy afternoon I was pleased to find its location is near a few important stops in Pasadena, and there's some parking available in the private lot. I was mostly there to check out the selection and see if they specialized in anything unique. Not to say they don't, but it's still a well-stocked store. I was the only customer and enjoyed the classic jazz playing in the background. Pro Tip: Most established comic shops have subscription plans paid annually, or one-time up front. A customer goes through Comic Book Geek to pick their titles and sometimes preferred cover art, and the shop pulls their requests and holds them until the customer picks up the stash.

Apparently Nucleus expanded and opened a second location in Portland in 2016. [Parking]: Easy and free street parking. If parking is not available on Main St, then there are plenty of public parking spots and parking plazas in downtown Alhambra. [Space]: The space is separated into a bookstore at the front with various art books and a rotating art exhibit (Wicked in March 2026) at the back. All art on display is for sale. The bookstore sells mostly art books (both original works and artwork from specific anime, games, or pop culture) as well as various original greeting cards. Tickets are not required to see the exhibit and admission is free. [Conclusion]: A neat spot to see various unique art prints and a free exhibit. Chances are if you are at Nucleus then you are also here to check out other spots in downtown Alhambra (e.g. grabbing tea drinks or visiting other miscellaneous shops).

I understand used bookstores have to make a profit, but the experience left me feeling like my books would have been better off in a friend's library. I could be wrong. Big I think he sells dad's and blurays mostly and only rents adult films. So...don't be dirty I only bought stuff. Mike was a really nice guy and he seems to have customers who come in just to chat. A lot of the items for sale aren't knew releases but seem to be a lot of early 2000s era films. Lots of stuff I never heard of. But I did manage to find a few film. I want to to go back and explore more. This store is for: people who love old mom and pop video stores, weird 2000s films, are OK with no curtains where a curtain should be. And just a friendly guy. Makes me want to own the same type of store when I retire.
