I find this to be an important quality in a pharmacist because oftentimes they know more about the medications that you are taking and the combinations than your doctor, especially if you have more than one. The place also has that old time soda/tincture fountain kind of feel. Very old time. This is a great spot that few non-local people see, that they might want to check out. This pharmacy is one of the best I've ever used for my medical needs!!…read more The owners are not just entrepreneurs. They are community supporters, patient advocates, and would selflessly assist you with what benefits you most as a customer. I've been going to this pharmacy for over a year now and I never encountered any bit of a problem. I may have encountered dozens of problems with my Doctor's office or insurance but the owners are always ready to help and give advice of what you can do. I'm always busy and don't have time to usually post comments about a business entity but I can't help myself to give back to this pharmacy's unending support. They have the fastest service in getting your medications ready if there are no issues from the doctors office, insurance, etc. You go in and out quick since your needs are quickly met. Let us support our local pharmacies!! You can talk to the owners yourself. You will never see and voice out your concerns directly on the owners or big bosses of CVS, Walmart Pharmacy, Walgreens, etc.!

I am disgusted with how I was treated at this pharmacy…read more I was acknowledged by a round male with a clip on tie. Upon giving him my name for a pickup, it was obvious the effort to check the knee high bin was too great. Minutes later he returns, sliding me a number on a piece of paper like some bizarre negotiation, "That's what this is going to cost you". the number was about 10 times higher than the generic, so I inquired about that, seeing as how I received a call from that very pharmacy telling me my generic prescription was partially filled and will be ready the next day. "we don't get that" he replied. "you don't get that now, or wont be getting that again?" I asked. His response obviously annoyed "we don't get that". Even though the person who called told me they did, and the pharmacist I spoke with previously told me they could get it with a days notice. I inquired about the partial fill the other pharmacist offered. Clip on said, "its going to take at least 10 minutes" . Sure, Ill wait. You better believe i stared at him the entire time. Upon his return with my partial fill, I asked him what I can do differently to better prepare before arrival to pick up my prescription. "nothing" he stated, "there is nothing you can do", "People chase this (eyeing me with a disgusted look)" He was implying that I was somehow abusing my prescription and he was on to me. "you can call and we'll have it and some other person chasing this will take it before you can get it". I let him know it was a pleasure speaking with him, he didn't feel the same. Previously I've struggled with this Pharmacy filling prescriptions where they've blamed my carrier (who had the error log and it was in fact on Nutmeg's side) and provided me false information "your insurance will not cover generic, only name brand" all due to high staff turn over and improper supervision and training. It's unfortunate, as in my household there are (sadly) 3 people requiring medications both regularly and ad-hoc. We would much rather support a smaller business than throw money at CVS but with this treatment, why would I return? Hell, I can fill this at Costco , munch on a $1.50 hotdog and pick up a new flatscreen. Do better Nutmeg, your clientele is aging out and you should be kind and unassuming to all your customers. To Clip-on, I hope you cry into the day old lo-mien you eat for dinner. Other people aren't the reason you are lonely.

This pharmacy is a breath of fresh air after dealing with the typical modern pharmacy. In today's…read moresociety club memberships, gimmicks and all kinds of other complex schemes to attract business are the norm for a company. Those who run this pharmacy, however, seem to have rediscovered that you can gain customers simply by doing your job, doing it well, and treating the customer with courtesy and compassion! When you call this pharmacy, the phone is promptly answered by a human being. You don't have to sit though tons of advertisements / being put on hold for a long time. The staff are friendly, courteous, and helpful. Most importantly, though, they operate well when filling a prescription. With my previous pharmacy I'd worry whenever a refill was coming up, since there would almost always be some kind of a problem that the staff would do the minimum of work to solve. When you called the pharmacy, after a long wait, you'd be responded to by someone who seemed to find your call a nuisance (Not every person in the pharmacy was like this, but it was common). I only wish I'd known how great Nutmeg Pharmacy is earlier, since it saves me so much hassle and stress. Half the time when you call them to fill a prescription, they've already done it! I hadn't known that pharmacies like this still existed. Overall, Nutmeg Pharmacy is a wonderful small business that can still give that personal touch to their work. Because the pharmacy is a small business, though, I'm hoping that it will survive this difficult economy. I would instantly recommend Nutmeg Pharmacy to anyone!

When we first used the pharmacy the tech was helpful and assisted in finding the cheapest way to pay. Sometimes your insurance is not the cheapest, as we found out that AAA got us a smaller copay. But thru the years, the techs have changed and are not as helpful in finding the cheapest copay. Last time they listed the wrong one and we paid a much higher than normal copay. Did not catch it until we got home. Lesson learned for the next time. And yes there will be a next time as you cannot mess with the convenience factor of shopping for food and picking up your prescriptions. Not to mention how close the store is to our home.

I waited 30 minutes while she was making a call to see if I could get a refill. The 16 year old intern did a way better job than her.
