Robert came to our home and took measurements, and engaged in a conversation with us for nearly an hour. He promised us an estimate on the following Monday, about five days away. A week and a half later we had not heard from him so I sent an email asking about the estimate. No response. After three weeks of no response I went with one of his competitors who is going to do blinds for the whole house. He lost a sale in the six to $7000 range. I think he quietly decided we were too small time for him. While he seemed like a good conversationalist his actual communication skills were appalling. Dropped names of famous people whose homes he had done window coverings for. That should've been my first clue. read more

Robert installed several blinds in my home when I moved in ~3 years ago. Recently, I had new windows put in, which required taking down a couple of the blinds he previously installed. Discovering I'm not handy enough to reinstall my blinds, I got hold of Robert who came by on a Sunday and put my blinds back up in a flash. I love the blinds, they were extra awesome when I had my old single pane aluminum windows, keeping out the cold. With the new energy efficient windows, they don't have to work as hard, but add a bit of coziness to the rooms. Got a great bid on some additional window coverings during his visit. Definitely putting these on my home improvement wish list and will most certainly contact Robert and team when I'm ready to pull the trigger. I found Northwest Window Coverings through Angie's List. The first thing I saw was that they had won Angie's List's 'Super Service Award' for five consecutive years, and that almost all of the ratings were A's. I decided to check out their website and I signed up for an in-home appraisal. Although the return message said that they would contact me within 24 hours, I received a phone call almost immediately to schedule an appointment. On the scheduled day, we received a phone call informing us that Robert had a dental emergency, and that they would like to reschedule. Despite my disappointment, we set a new date, and on that day Robert DID arrive promptly on time. As we greeted him at the door, he apologized profusely for the dental emergency getting in the way, and told us that he would be offering us a discount on our service because of it. Unbelievable... in a GOOD way! Robert brought a series of Hunter Douglas samples that matched the type of blinds we were inquiring about, and brought a couple of extra options as well. The best thing about that was that he didn't try to "Up Sell" in any form, but actually gave us a more affordable option, along with some terrific advice on why we might not want the blinds we originally set out to buy, AND despite the fact that they would have been the costlier option. When he sent us the estimate the next day, it reflected the discount he verbally offered us, and the overall estimate was very fair, considering the size of the windows we're interested in covering. This company upholds a level of honesty and integrity that is rare in today's business market, with a strong focus on meeting both the product needs and financial needs of the client. We had all of the blinds in our house installed by this company. The initial installation went fine. The issues arose over the years as we reached out for additional products. We had a blind break - it took many phone calls (not returned) and emails for us to finally get the product replaced. Apparently the issue was with the manufacturer of the blinds. I recently reached out to purchase a new blind for one room. Again, it's impossible to get a return phone call. I emailed the owner and he suggested I call the office again. I finally got an appt scheduled and they cancelled the appt the day prior due to a dental emergency. Apparently the reason my phone calls weren't returned are due to issues with Comcast (this is what I was told). Oh and to top it all off, they lost all my information so none of the measurements for our windows are available making the process of getting new blinds more arduous than it needs to be - apparently this was an issue with them switching systems for managing customer data (so many excuses!! Apparently all these issues are due to Comcast, the blind manufacturer, or the software system they upgraded to.) Don't waste your time! read more

After shopping around at a few places for real high quality wood blinds, I found Northwest Window Coverings, I did a rough measure of my windows and sent an email to Northwest Window Coverings for a quote, and Robert replied right away with a quote for my windows, the price was great for the quality and work of the blinds. We scheduled a in home consultation and Robert was there on time, he went through the house and measured my windows precisely and explained to me my options and suggested good color schemes for my new house. After my wife and I decided on the color, which was mocha, we placed an order. The blinds came in shortly there after and Robert came over and installed them himself. He was professional and was considerate of our time. He did a great job and the windows look amazing. The blinds are Graber and are excellent quality and look fantastic. Easy to maintain. I work for a property management company in Seattle and have managed various apartment properties, condos and homes in Seattle for over 25 years. Please note there was not one, two or three occasions when this company failed to return a call and/or emails. Over a 3+ month period there were a least a dozen voice mail and/or emails they failed to respond to. I've overseen maintenance on many apartments, condominiums and homes for the past 25 years. Northwest Window Coverings is one of the worst contractors I've ever dealt with. I'm a very reasonable person, to a fault as I waited for them to provide us with reasonable service. I rarely provide negative feedback on our service providers. I gave them, Northwest Window Coverings, many, many opportunities to step up and complete our job. In the end, they failed miserably, we were obviously ignored beyond belief. From the first time I called this company, throughout this whole ordeal, 3+ months, at various times, I was told their voice mail system was not working, their email system wasn't working, appointments were set and ignored and then rescheduled and ignored, that items had been delivered or would be delivered but weren't, that damaged blinds had arrived and had to be returned, etc, etc., etc. I've never heard so many excuses. Shame on me for trying to be loyal to a fault. 3+ months of ignoring me when the process should have taken less then a month. They could have easily taken care our tenant after all the mess-ups early on and chose not to. Outstanding service! I contacted Northwest Window Coverings over a year ago to purchase shades for our entire home. Robert came to our home and told us about the different brands, fabrics, and other options. He did focus on one brand, but he was upfront and told us they were promoting that brand that month. He was very friendly and polite, not pushy at all. We ordered shades for 9 windows. The measuring and installation visits were very pleasant. They worked fast and were very respectful of our home. Unfortunately, within a few months, the shades started failing one by one. I called the company about a year after our purchase, worried they would tell us it was too late to return them. Robert sent a technician to our home who looked at the shades and immediately told us the shades were defective and they would take care of us. It took a few months (due to the manufacturer denying the claim) but Robert persisted and the company remade our blinds. I did have to keep calling to follow up as the process dragged on, but in the end Northwest Window Coverings stood by their satisfaction guarantee and I am happy with the final product. read more

We had all of the shutters in our home installed through this company as well as many motorized blinds. The issues arose when the installation occurred the first time. The shutters were dragging on the wood windowsills, they were sagging and were huge gaps when they closed and they were sticking together. After several excuses as to why this was happening, which included the house settling and wrong fit they came back out to redo the installation. This round didn't improve them so they scheduled a third visit. They were accompanied by Hunter Douglas reps who were attempting to oversee the fix. They left and said they had fixed them all. I should have written this review earlier as the last install was a year ago, but I was finally pushed to the limit when I noticed that over half of the shutters are dragging again causing damage to the woodwork. I will be contacting Hunter Douglas to take care of this with another company, which is probably the only way because I too had issues with Northwest Window Coverings returning my phone calls. Neighbors on both sides of us have had window covering installed using other companies since we have and have been very happy so it can be done! We have used many vendors over the years and this isn't our first time having window coverings installed and I can honestly say this is the worst company we have worked with. read more
