What really makes any business really amazing is their ability to be available for their customers and provide the best service possible. The folks at Northwest are absolutely amazing. It's very easy to reach someone at the front desk. The doctors are very kind and responsive. They even have a website where you can go in and check your pets' appointments and prescriptions. One of my cats is sick and is on life-long medication. The hospital where he was being treated shut down their Internal Medicine department, so Obi did not have an ongoing vet. This happened right when Obi's prescription ran out, and no pharmacy was able to refill the medication since the previous vet was no longer available. The folks at Northwest were super accommodating and were able to fit me into their schedule to do a quick checkup and send out a fresh prescription. This was during the pandemic, when most vets were not even accepting new patients. read more

After an extremely expensive tooth removal quote from our current Vet I decided to get a second opinion at NW. They noticed a second broken tooth my current vet didn't, and their quote to remove two teeth was the same as the quote for the one tooth removal at the other spot... I went with NW and they were ON IT! Katie especially kept me in the loop the entire way, I felt like she genuinely cared and didn't just see me as dollar signs with this procedure. She was able to pull only one tooth, salvage the other, and the invoice came out LESS than what they had said it could be. WHEN DOES THIS EVER HAPPEN?!? I will be switching both my dogs over to NW. I trust their judgement, they are very skilled at what they do and they are honest. My expectations were blown out of the water. This was the first time taking our dog here. We got her from the Seattle Humane Society about two weeks ago, so we didn't know how she was going to react to visiting a vet. The receptionist were very warm and welcoming, giving our pup lots of treats and making her feel comfortable. As a matter of fact, the entire staff was incredibly friendly. The vet technician explained some good vaccination options, and the doctor checked our pup out thoroughly and patiently. I am extremely disappointed in this Vet for a variety of reasons, but my most recent experience was the last straw. Previously I had some concerns over the diagnostic and treatment capabilities of the vet team at this facility. I brought one of my dogs in for help with anxiety and behavior issues. He was prescribed a mediation that made him no less anxious, but caused him to lose his balance and generally have poor coordination. We stopped the medication immediately and worked with a behavioralist (much better results!) The next time my dog was seen by them, they never asked or followed up on the initial treatment. In fact, the total time he was seen by staff for that visit was roughly 90 seconds. Another time, I took another one of my dogs in for routine shots. He fell ill as soon as he came home. Perhaps a bad reaction? We were back and fourth in and out of the vet over several days due to this. They didn't really seem to have a great grasp on what happened or why he got sick. Luckily he stabilized and all worked out. For my final interaction with this vet, I requested prescription refills for 3 of my dogs for several medications. We are moving across country and I wanted to make sure they had everything they need for some time until we're able to find a new vet. I spoke with their team on Saturday and explained the level of urgency because we were taking off in a week and would have the drugs expedited shipping from an online pharmacy, so as long as the scripts were sent in promptly, we wouldn't have a problem. On Monday, the pharmacy informed me that they still had not received authorization for the order from the vet. I called the vet directly to see what was going on and they told me they were working on it and would send it out in a couple of days. I again explained the urgency and asked that it be sent out that day. The member of the staff that I explained this to acknowledged and agreed. She assured me it would be sent out that day. On Tuesday, I noted that the order had still not yet been filled and I confirmed with the pharmacy that they still had not received authorization from the vet. I called the vet again and was told that they tried to submit the order, but the pharmacy was closed due to the holiday. This was a blatant lie. I was in contact with people at the pharmacy over the phone on Monday. I know for a fact that they had a reduced crew, but were very much open. Further, the authorizations are sent in via fax and they do not turn off their fax machine over holidays. This was the vet lying to save face for failing to do as requested. When speaking to the receptionist about this mixup, I said it was fine so long as the authorization was sent out today, I then proceeded to review every single medication on the order along with quantities and dosages. The receptionist said there were a few differences with what they had, but I cross referenced the order just to be sure that I had it correct - I did. I explained this to them and was very clear about which items they had that were incorrect. I then verified they were sent over the correct order with the right information. They were. After a few hours, I called the pharmacy again to make sure the authorization was sent. They hadn't yet received it, but it came in while I was on the phone with them. The informed me in real time that there were some issues - some faxes were illegible, there were some missing medications, and also some extra medications I had not ordered or requested. It was getting late in the day, so I decided the best course of action was to go to the vet office in person and sort it out. I printed out the exact order and circled the parts of the order that the vet had sent the wrong documentation for. I'm not sure how I could have made this any easier for the vet office. Sure enough, they managed to screw it up again. I asked for hard copies of the scripts so I could review it myself and I found 4 overall errors including wrong dosages, extra medication, and missing prescriptions. I once again corrected them and showed them exactly where they had gone wrong. The receptionist said he would talk to the tech and try to get it sorted. After waiting in the office for a while, he came back out to tell me that the script wouldn't get filled today because the tech wanted to take her lunch break and had already been working a few minutes over her lunch. Recall at this point that I had already wasted around 3 hours of my time sorting out their mistake, not to mention the pharmacy's time with the back and fourth. I apologized about the tech having to work extra time, but insisted that it get sorted right away seeing as how this was the vet's mistake(s). Finally, the tech came out to speak with me after resubmitting the order and ONCE AGAIN mentioned an additional medication that I had not ordered or ask for despite having been corrected about this at least 4 separate times including the initial order. my dog has been a patient for 5 years, and we have been happy until now, however very disappointed at last interaction. Our pet is up to date on health care, but currently living 3 hrs plus ferry ride away from office clinic. We asked for rx with sudden onset of UTI infection, she was peeing 3 to 5 times every 10 minutes. Nikki at front desk was firm in statements that the dog must be in person for exam, no rx without that, no phone consult with vet offered. This was very cut-and-dry, no compassion for a dog in distress; VERY disappointing. read more

Do not go to this place. Well unless you want to waste your money. My family took our dog here several times over the course of a year and half for a skin rash. Each visit was several hundred dollars. And they never did anything to help and only said he must be allergic to something. No shit. I assumed as much. The last time we were there the Vet told us the same thing they had previously told us the last several visits. They also did some blood work this time. At the end of the appointment I paid and as usual it was $300plus. I then get a phone call the next day saying they never charged me for the blood work. I told them to forget it as I was fed up going there and wasting my money. A couple months later I get a bill in the mail for the blood work which I told them not to do. Of course I'm not going to pay them for something I didn't agree to and is not going to help my dog. Well they decided to send it to a collection agency in lieu of trying to work something out. This place is a joke. Oh and by the way I took my dog to another vet and they prescribed him some medication on the first visit and the problem was solved. It's a really long story, but to keep it short, don't see Dr. Donovan. Maybe he is burnt out or something. He treats you like you know nothing about your own pet, he is smug, arrogant and does not listen at all.... My dog was diagnosed 2 days later with a very serious illness. If he had just simply taken his temperature (106.1), enough said. He didn't care that my lab was not eating, smelled funny, and was breathing extremely weird. have seen a lot of vets, but he was the worst. Just find somewhere else... The staff were great read more

I have been bringing my cats to Northwest Veterinary Hospital for several years, and am so happy I found them! Like another reviewer, I first went for a second opinion on a diagnosis from elsewhere that seemed very serious. After taking the case, Dr. Donovan had a suspicion, gave me the options, and we decided to start treatment before the blood results were in. A few bottles of antibiotics later and my cat did not have to undergo the surgery the other vet had recommended! We moved across town a while back and I continue to go there because, in my experience, Dr. Donovan is one of the best veterinarians in practice. He is great at explaining things, giving options, and using the least invasive, most sensible treatments. (I have also seen Dr. Whereat, who was quite good as well, but I most prefer Dr. Donovan's approach.) I like that Dr. Donovan takes all factors into consideration - including the cat's age, general health, indoor/outdoor lifestyle, etc. when recommending treatments and vaccines. He does not berate me for declining vaccines that I feel unnecessary for my indoor cats (after he has explained the pros and cons, along with his recommendations). And for an ill stray cat that I brought in once, he outlined the minimal treatment, middle-of-the-road, and the "Cadillac" approach, then let me choose without judgment. I agree with the reviewer who said that he may be a bit guilty of over-explaining at times, but I much prefer that to being kept in the dark. I find that listening patiently and asking questions when needed works well. Dr. Donovan and his staff have an excellent "bedside manner" and are very pleasant all around. He and his staff are so good with our kitties (even the one who HATES everyone). I would heartily recommend them to any friend. read more

I had a great experience with the veterinarian and staff. I felt welcomed and they were in a good mood throughout my visit. My dog Mia does not like going to the vet and shivers. She had an ear infection and they brought her to a room to treat her, but when she return she had a huge smile on her face and was jumping! I felt relief knowing she was in good hands and was taken care of! She was so happy and excited after her treatment. I am so happy with the customer service! Never take your pets here. I took my cat here years ago to stay for a couple days when my family and I went on vacation. When we picked him up he had caught a nasty cold. The refused to treat him for free, even though it was their fault. The staff is cold and snobby. They were very unprofessional and not very affectionate of the animals. read more

Phinney's seen both Dr Whereat and Dr Donovan and I prefer Dr Donovan. He takes time to answer all my questions and he has a very calm demeanor, which is helpful when you're dealing with a crazy 13 week old puppy. Dr Whereat is also calm, but she's less gentle and more brusque. She also failed to diagnose Phinney's worms even though I told her about the butt scooting - we had to wait for the test to confirm our suspicions. They're quick with shots and appointments and we've never had to wait long for anything. The staff there are really nice and helpful. I've called them multiple times and they've always been organized and pleasant to deal with. read more

I'm really sad to see some of the reviews here. When we first went to NW Vet Hospital to get our puppy his third round of shots (of 5), to be completely honest, we were blown away by the price compared to the first two sets he received. In a bad way. We swore we wouldn't go back despite living three blocks away. Then, our dog got a bad ear infection and we took him to two separate clinics that didn't do anything for him besides recommend some OTC vinegar based solutions. When it got severe, we bit the bullet and took him back to NWVH. Immediately, Dr. Ann prescribed an ear medication that resolved the problem so fast, we kicked ourselves for not going sooner. Then, when our pup started biting/scratching himself to the point of being raw, we tried some store-bought topical solutions but when they didn't work, we took him back to NWVH. Again, Dr. Ann suggested a topical prescription over an oral medication, though she said the oral med would work faster but wouldn't be a very pleasant experience for our pup. We felt extremely informed and went with the topical solution, which again, worked quickly and very effectively. It was then we swore we'd never go to another vet in Seattle. But THEN, we moved to NYC and to this day, the only thing we lament leaving behind is NWVH. We still haven't found a vet we love and trust the way we love and trust Dr. Ann. They've called in a prescription for that topical spray when we needed it again (this is six months after we moved). Then, more recently, our adventurous pup got into some chocolate and we did not have a vet here, so literally crying, I called NWVH up and asked them to advise me. THEY WERE SO HELPFUL (!) - both Nikki and Larisa - even though we hadn't seen them in nearly a year. They even sent over a database of vets they'd recommend when it was all over (he was totally fine). We are so grateful for the staff at NWVH and really know and feel they care about our baby. We cannot recommend them enough. read more

Yet another five star review! As a recent transplant to this fine city, I was a bit worried about finding a good vet for my cats- Honky and Orville. They mean the WORLD to me. I have been fortunate enough to have previously had my best friend in the employ of one of the most amazing animal hospitals ever (which meant cheap if not free pet care, FYI). So I was worried when I noticed my stinker's prescription food getting a bit low. I asked my super-awesome downstairs neighbor who her vet is- and she told me about his place- notably Dr Donovan. See, her dog, Quixote, is a very special needs kinda dog- cancer twice, epilepsy, major food allergies.... she said he came over to her house at 2 in the morning to help when he was having an epileptic seizure. WOW! That was all the endorsement I needed. Upon arrival with my boy we were put into an examination room quickly and were visited by a vet tech, whom my silly boy didn't let do the anal probe. He's a smart cat, what can I say? Soon thereafter, Dr Donovan came in, and my seriously stressed cat quickly calmed down. We talked at length about his medical condition, his behavior issues, and everything else relating to both of our cats. He explained very thoroughly what Orville's medical condition consisted of so that we understood what caused it and so that we could monitor and control it, something my old vet never seemed to care about, and was very complimentary about my handsome boy. I can tell he's a great doctor AND an animal lover, something that's essential in a great vet. The price wasn't too high, either. I was expecting quite a bit more based on a previous review. What was also nice was that he didn't force my cat to go through pokes and awful tests just to renew his prescription food. Something Orville appreciated, for sure! I'm sure our furry donuts will make many happy return visits to see Dr Donovan, hopefully just for annual check ups and vaccinations, of course! read more

Finding a good vet is worth its weight in gold. After several years without pets, I got a happy, bouncy corgi puppy named Claire, and sought out a good vet; my previous vet was off in my old neighborhood, and I wanted one closer. Enter Northwest. The first time I went there, it was just because they're fairly close to where I live in Fremont. However, they made sure my puppy was calm and comforted when giving her shots, and praised and rewarded her with a treat afterwards. The vets and techs genuinely care about the animals that pass through, the receptionists know and love the patients. They make certain to keep the owners informed on every step of things, explain exactly why a medicine is being given and what one can expect, and are ready and willing to answer any questions one might have. But that's more or less what I expect from a decent vet. So the best review of all would, I think, have to be from Claire herself. Often times, pets will hate to go to the vet. But when we arrive at Northwest, Claire trots up happily to the door, pleased to see her receptionist and doctor friends. No protests, no whines, just a big corgi-smile for the receptionists. And THAT is what wins them the five stars from me. read more

Sometimes you don't know how good you have it until you lose it. This has been my unfortunate discovery having recently moved to Austin, TX from Seattle and trying to find a vet as good as Northwest Veterinary Hospital. I have two Chihuahuas - Maxine and Charlie. They are almost 8 years old, and are very love-able. They are well socialized, and many people don't even realize they are Chihuahua's because they don't fall into the typical negative stereotypes about the breed: yippy, afraid, unfriendly, and weak. I pride my pups in opening up people's hearts and minds about the breed. My pups are healthy, like-able, quiet, and quite the athletic specimens! You should see my pups run across a grassy field at top speed! But enough about the pups - obviously I love them more than anything, which is why a good vet is so critical. To keep it simple, here are the things I loved about Northwest Veterinary hospital, some of which I took for granted at the time because I didn't realize how horrible a vet could be. 1. NW Vet has great organizational and business processes. They always called to remind me of appointments, knew me and my pups by name when we arrived, and would call the day after to check in and sometimes the week after to make sure the pups were still ok. Seems simple enough. Put a reminder in a calendar, make a call, but I've learned that some Vets cannot even do that. 2. NW Vet staff really loved my animals. At NW, it was more than good business. Every receptionist, vet tech, or vet communicated with deep passion, concern, and care about my pups. Everyone was very informed and able to answer questions about any current medical situation. If someone was unable to answer a question, they would have the Vet call me. I never had to wait hours or days to hear back. I never had to call the Vet back to remind them that I was waiting for an update, or call back begging for an update about a sick pup while I sat at home and worried (something I am experiencing today as I write this). 3. NW Vets and staff know how pet owners think. When diagnosing problems or during normal check ins, they asked very insightful questions - things that as a very observant pet owner, I wouldn't have thought to tell them (and believe me, I can be very detailed and long winded about the behavior of my pups). The entire staff at NW were great about setting expectations about medicine side effects and expected behavior during certain treatments. They anticipated the kinds of questions I could possibly have, or things that could possibly go wrong or cause alarm, and were able to communicate clearly about them ahead of time, so that I felt informed and less panicked when certain changes in behavior did occur. 4. NW Vets know how to communicate. They always explained procedures and issues in a way that someone without medical knowledge would understand. Many of us think that we know what our pets think and need. We love them so much that we speculate about their motives, emotions, and the causes of their behavior or illnesses. Sometimes we forget that we are not medical professionals even though we may have spent hours googling symptoms. The NW vets were always patient about answering questions I had based on my own online research, or theories that had about what I thought was wrong with my dogs. The great thing was that they were not simply humoring me - they were listening for clues or insights that might help them treat my pups better. Conclusion - NW Vets love animals and listen to animal lovers. Maxine, and especially Charlie, who is currently very sick, miss them very very much. I do too. I used NW Vets from 2004-2010. They have redone their lobby in the last couple of years, and have been willing to answer questions I have about my dog's current problem even though I am no longer a "customer" or patient in Seattle. read more

I've shopped around several different vets in seattle and this one is my favorite so far. Other vets try to sell me a bunch of expensive, unecessary lab work and tell me my cat is too fat (ok she's plump at 13 lbs but the vet was OBESE). I just went yesterday and Dr. Donovan was great. He gave me some good info on what to expect as my cat ages. Suggested I bring her in twice a year -- once for vaccinations and a dr.s visit, then 6 months later for blood work but no dr.s visit that time unless something's wrong. That is perfect for me and spreading out the cost so its around $100 every six months will be a lot easier to stomach. I feel like I used to get charged over $300 at broadway veterinary, just for routine stuff. The staff has always been nice and friendly to my pet. read more

I am so grateful that I chose NW Vet hospital. They were so incredibly professional and compassionate in a very difficult time. My 13 year old cat had been slowing down over a few months, but one morning he began limping and refusing to eat. I had had a terrible experience with our previous vet and based on the yelp reviews (and location) I chose to take Corgan to NW Vet Hospital instead. Come to find out, Corgan had a large tumor that was causing him great distress, and amidst my sobs, they tactfully explained my 'options' in a very compassionate and humane way. Then they gave my husband and I privacy to make the decision to put him to sleep, and were extremely accommodating to let us come back to the clinic that week when we were 'ready'. It allowed us to enjoy our last day with Corgan and appreciate our great times together. Everyone there: the front desk receptionists, the vet tech, and Dr., each shared their true compassion yet maintained their professional at our situation It was a heartbreaking way to find a new vet but I am so grateful I found them! read more

We've been bringing our dog here for about a year and have always been satisfied with the service. The location is ideal for us as it's just a short drive from home. The lobby is comfortable and clean and the staff at the front desk is always super nice and welcoming. I've never had to wait for more than a few minutes for an appointment or to check out after seeing the doctor. When the vet recommended a vaccination for my dog that he hadn't previously had, he took the time to explain exactly what it was for me and made sure I understood completely before making a decision. Most vets I've seen before would just simply tell me that the dog needs it and that's it. He also gave me options for additional vaccinations that other pets get in the area and let me know that the decision of whether or not to get them is completely up to me. I never felt like he was trying to sell me on them and truly appreciated his honesty when he said some of them are likely not worth the extra cost. I have been to vets in the past where they always end up "highly recommending" that I use the shampoo/conditioner/special food that they just happen to sell there. I have often felt like a trip to the vet is somewhat like a trip to a used car dealership. I really love that they don't do that here! I always feel comfortable, welcome and valued during our visits. One of my favorite things about it though, is a little silly - but totally awesome. When they send postcard reminders for things like vaccination updates or exams they always send a photo of my dog! We have gone to Northwest Veterinary Hospital for over 10 years and have consistently found them fantastic! We recently went there for a problem with our older female german shepherd, and were reminded about what great vets they are. Very caring, very knowledgeable. I like that they treat you as a thinking person, talk through the disorder with you, talk about possible alternate diagnoses to be ruled out, and then discuss treatment options. Dr. Donovan is excellent as well. He has a very kind, calm manner, and has always been spot-on in his diagnoses and treatment of our dogs' problems over the years. We had bad experiences at other vets before coming here, and I'm happy we found a group we can trust. The first time we came here our older german shepherd had been misdiagnosed by another vet as having a terminal condition, and we were told to make his remaining time comfortable. We brought him to NW Vet Hospital for a second opinion and they said "well, it might actually be something else, relatively simple (kidney infection that wasn't showing up clearly in the tests)" we treated it as such, the disorder went away and he lived for another five years! Had it gone undiagnosed and untreated he would have died much sooner. We have recommended them to coworkers and friends over the years who have also been very pleased. I recommend this place without reservation! I recently adopted a kitten and took her here for routine shots and exam. Dr. Donovan was wonderful! I wish MY doctor was that attentive. In the 45 mins he spent with us, I learned so much about my kitty and how to take care of her. I get the impression that everyone who works in that office loves animals and enjoys meeting all the pets that come through the door. My praise was magnified last weekend when I brought the kitty back for her 3-month-old shots. The morning after (Saturday morning), I woke up to find my kitten shivering and lethargic. Worried, I called the vet hospital. Daniel, a technician, advised me to bring her back in right away. Turns out she was having a reaction to the shots and had a 103 degree fever! They kept her there for a day, gave her subcutaneous fluids, and monitored her fever -- free of charge! She was better by the evening. Monday morning, Daniel called back to check up on her! I hadn't come across such care and professionalism before, and I'm thrilled to recommend this vet. I feel so lucky to have found them and will definitely be going back. read more

I've visited twice with my new cat, once for a checkup after I first adopted him and then once for a skin condition that popped up. The staff I've dealt with are all wonderful and friendly, and Dr. Donovan has been very attentive to Bug on both visits. He discussed the suspected issue thoroughly and gave me literature to read so I could familiarize myself with it too, which I appreciate. It's a little out of the way for me (I pass several other clinics on my drive over) but I don't mind. I think I made a good choice! read more

This place takes good care of our two kitties. My god, they even send me happy birthday emails to my cats, and check-up emails letting your cat know to inform their owner that it is that time. In any other sense, this might annoy me, but for some reason I find it kind of funny. (Maybe this is because I seriously try to picture who ever sat down and wrote out these emails, and what they were thinking.) Anyway, last spring our little kitty Harvey got sick. I was super worried as he is a tiny little guy, and called them up hoping for an emergency appointment. They told me they were booked, but recommended me to their sister vet in Green Lake- Green Lake Animal Hospital, and told me if anyone canceled they would call me right away. I felt really comforted knowing they would try and reach me. So, I call the place in Green Lake and am super worried, and getting a little frantic. The woman on the phone, after waiting on hold forever, tells me, alas, they are booked up as well. So I say, "can you call me and let me know if an appointment opens up?", thinking, ours does it, it must be standard. The woman replies, "Ha. Well, we don't do that anymore. We used to say we would to our customers but we always ended up forgetting so we don't do it now....we always forget!" WTF??? You know...if this is their policy, that's fine. HOWEVER. When I call you worried sick about my cat, don't tell me about how I am paying good, and perhaps a lot of money, while you just OOPS! Forget. I can't begin to tell you how pissed I was. I felt like they could have cared less. And who knows, maybe she was new; but whatever the case, it didn't leave a good taste in my mouth. So possibly, I do appreciate Northwest Vet Hospital because of what they do, and what others don't do, or care to do. But, they've always done a good job, and seem as if they care a little too much to just forget. Moral of the story is: Don't take your pets to Green Lake. Take them here. read more

It's been almost three years since I wrote my first review, and since then there have been a number of changes in my little menagerie. Northwest Veterinary and Dr. Donovan have been there every step of the way, and I'm still very happy with the care we get there. A couple of weeks ago, my aging bulldog, Sid, had some bladder problems and then underwent some dental work there which resulted in three pulled teeth. The level of care both before and after the procedure that we received from Northwest Veterinary was top notch. Their prices are still high, but definitely worth it; I never get the feeling that my pet is just another animal to them. The staff is super friendly, too! My other pooch is a French Bulldog, and since Dr. Donovan owns Frenchies himself, he is very well educated in the special needs of brachycephalic dogs. Definitely a plus if you have a pup of similar breed. :) I can't say enough great things about Northwest Veterinary. They're great! read more

I can't say enough good things about NW Veterinary Hospital. I've taken all of my pets here. I currently have a Bengal cat and a Eskipoo. Dr. Donovan is fabulous. Both of my pets like him very much. Everyone from the front desk staff to the technicians do all they can to ensure a calm and fun environment. Yes, their prices can be higher than so other places but as another reviewer mentioned, the price is totally worth it. You know you are getting top quality care for your pet. They also work with you to find cost-effective solutions when options are available. read more

i think this vet is nice. i took my poor little sick petunia (the dog) here they got me in same day. got me the meds same time while i was there. the gals there are nice and so was the doc. so i plan on returning to this place. and making it her regular doc's office. only 4 star's cause i have been to a few other place that were a little nicer looking but i don't really care about the looks but some people might. read more

While visiting Seattle my dog got a uti, I called our vet and they were able to fax a prescription anywhere. I chose NW veterinary hospital because of convenience and reviews. I called and left a voicemail to ensure my prescription had been filled, several hours later and nearing closing time i went to to vet in hopes to just pick up the prescription. I was told they spoke with my vet but didn't get the fax and couldn't help me. I couldn't believe they weren't willing to help my dog, and were content saying "sorry" and letting him suffer through the night. The following morning I had my vet resend the fax and waited for a call to pick up prescription, I arrived and the receptionist took my card without telling my how much the prescription was it came out to almost $70 dollars for a non visit uti prescription (this would have cost $9 at my local vet) she ensured me I could have ordered it online and got it delivered for less, but at this point I wasn't willing to let my dog suffer further as it was made so clear this is what this vet office is willing to do. I do not recommend this vets office for any reason, even in an emergency I would drive my pet somewhere else. read more

I recently went back to NW Vet Hospital for a follow up after my cat had a middle-of-the-night emergency. They were really great about getting me in the same day and working with my schedule. I saw Dr.Donovan this time and he explained a lot about what my cat was going through (idiopathic cystitis). He had literature readily available and was able to work with me to get the information he needed since I was a little upset about what my cat was going through. I got a lot of details that the emergency vet hadn't gone into. He didn't put me quite at ease, but that's not his fault because there wasn't much either of us could do besides try to make my cat comfortable while he goes through this episode. I felt like Nero was in capable hands and that if I have any other questions they will get answered satisfactorily and I feel much better about having NW Vets as a partner in my cat's health now. read more

My partner and I treat our animals as family members and are very selective about their care, and we have always been pleased with NVH. We have both a dog and cat we bring here for annuals, and NVH put one of our pets to rest last year in a very gentle and compassionate manner. I've been told they may also come to your home for this as well. They do tend to be a bit pricey, but in my experience it has been worth it! I've never had a vet spend less than a half and hour with us during a visit, all of the tech staff are warm and kind, and everyone is very, very thorough, even the front desk staff. My cat is due to have dental work this spring and I wouldn't trust anyone else to put her under anesthesia. The facility itself is clean and spacious -- I don't know what the people who have complained about the size of the rooms are talking about. The waiting room comfortably seats about a dozen guests, plus animals in carriers, and I've never had to wait there anyway -- I'm normally escorted straight to an exam room, where my pets are calmed and offered treats and cuddles. I came here on a friend's recommendation when I first moved to Seattle. Dr. Donovan and Dr. Whereat have been treating my Bulldog, Lucy for about 5 years. Both of them are wonderful caring and professional doctors who I trust very much. I can't say enough great things about Northwest Vet. The staff is amazing, kind and accommodating. As Lucy gets older we have more frequent unplanned visits, and we are always able to get in to see the doctor in a timely manner. The office is clean, and in a convenient location with ample parking. We never have to wait more than a few minutes to get into an exam room. It's one of the best recommendations I've ever received. read more

The service at this vet has gone down hill from when we first started using their services 3 years ago. If you want to wait hours for your animal to be seen and have meetings cancelled because your 5 minutes late then this is the vet for you. read more
