We received a text message with a link saying that the payment for said barcode was successfull but no ticket. We waited overnight and called. The customer service representative said there is NOTHING he can do. No ticket in the system. And WE HAVE THE SCREENSHOTS TO PROVE IT.

And I am not kidding about the number of times I traveled by Bus (and even more times than I listed above if you count the Trailways Bus Lines, plus Megabus, BoltBus, Lux Bus America, Vamoose, and RedCoach. Founded in 1914, Greyhound Lines, Inc. is the largest provider of intercity bus transportation, serving 2400 destinations across North America with a modern, environmentally friendly fleet. It has become an American icon, providing safe, enjoyable and affordable travel to nearly 16 million passengers each year in the United States and Canada. The Greyhound running dog is one of the most-recognized brands in the world. Greyhound is now the biggest bus company out of all of them, at least in the United States. They cover all states except Alaska and Hawaii, which both have their own State initiated long-haul bus services. Amenities on all Greyhound bus routes include Wi-Fi, power outlets, restrooms, air conditioning, and reclining seats; with some bus routes including video monitors for movies and tourism/travel videos. In 1987 Greyhound Lines came under new ownership. Greyhound Lines later acquired the former Continental Trailways company, the largest member of the Trailways system, effectively eliminating a large portion of Greyhound's bus competition, which included the other Main bus companies in the US, such as Megabus, BoltBus, Lux Bus America, Vamoose, and RedCoach. COVID-19 caused a 95 percent drop in ridership. Thus, Greyhound reduced service on March 25, 2020 and suspended six routes on April 5, 2020. On May 6, 2020, Greyhound Canada announced it would permanently shut down all its remaining bus services which it did on May 13, 2021. One of the reasons that I traveled so often on Greyhound's Bus Lines is because Greyhound offered Weekly, Monthly, Bi-Monthly and Tri-Monthly Bus-Passes at a substantial discount. This allowed me to actually "Travel" and even Tour different parts of North America including most of southern and central Canada, Northern Mexico, and nearly every State in the United States. This was a Great way for me to travel... at least when I was younger.

The station is decent considering how some Metra stations can be. The buses go here, though I decided to take a Lyft to my final destination and the pick up was a breeze from their large accessible parking lot. According to the Metra website, there are no ticket machines here either (I forgot to verify). Plus it doesn't run on weekends which is a big bummer, and sometimes the trains only run to Waukegan instead of all the way to Kenosha so you have to carefully check schedules.

Since it's the end of the line it has a small yard that stores the trains when not in service. As far as action goes it's pretty boring but since it's the end of the line but you can catch them stacking up or leaving the pool as they start up and shut sown for the day. You can check the Metra schedule for arrival and departure times for photos or videos. Since the Metra station is not super active on the weekends the bonus is that the Kenosha street car stops here plenty of times and will take you to the lake, museum, harbor and through a sliver of the down town for you to ride of for pictures and videos. There is plenty of public viewing access with out trespassing and you can walk in the station for platform viewing. The station was useful to me when I lived in Kenosha for people to visit me from Chicago but those days are over since I moved, now it's the Amtrak intermodal station for my needs.

It's fine; it's a train station. There's a coffee shop inside, Brew Coffee Lab, which is fantastic…read more(try the croffle). The interior is not a bad size so that's nice for when it's cold outside (or super hot, I suppose). There's also a bathroom so that's a great plus. They have anti-homeless seating in here--the benches have little metal dividers along them so that you can't lie down on the benches. I didn't know that Des Plaines was a hotbed for homelessness, but also am disgusted by any operation that uses anti-homeless architecture. I don't know if it's Metra or Des Plaines that's responsible for it but just not a good look.

You almost always get a seat, and the cars are properly heated in the winter and cooled in the summer. I highly recommend riding Metra if you can. Anyway, onto the Des Plaines Metra Station itself. This station is also a Pace bus depot, so it's convenient if you use both forms of transit. I've been to a couple Metra stations, and this one is pretty nice by comparison. It's a decent size with about four large benches inside for seating. There's also a convenience stand that sells coffee, drinks and snacks, and there are two restrooms. There is an attendant on duty to sell Metra tickets, but she is a little hit or miss. Sometimes she's really nice and friendly, and other times she's cranky and seems annoyed when you want to buy a ticket. It also seems like she takes a lot of breaks. She'll put up the "back in 10 minutes" sign and not be back in 10 minutes. Metra has finally started excepting credit cards at some of its stations, but not yet in Des Plaines, which is super annoying. You either have to pay in cash or write a check. Considering the moody ticket attendant and Metra's inability to adapt to technology, I highly recommend ordering your tickets online. Overall, I think riding Metra is a great value. The Des Plaines Metra station is clean and has a nice waiting area and snack stand inside.
