We were irritated for leaving messages that were never returned. If you have questions, reach out via the contact us option on their website at least 2 days in advance and you should be good. They are doing a lot with a little and making it enjoyable for the kiddos. Probably won't return but happy we tried it.

Unfortunately, we didn't get to ride because the boys hadn't napped but it was so fun watching the trolleys and electric trains and hearing them go "choo choo" as my boys say. They had reasonable food - hot dogs and root-beer and model railroads to look at. My husband and k agreed that we will definitely bring the boys back next year and look forward to riding the trains! We also want to try the dinner train someday for a date night! How fun does that sound?!

I value the Crystal Lake station for several reasons: * Ample parking spaces, whether adjacent or right across Main Street * Convenient automated payment options: cash, credit, or commuter card * It has an agent who can answer all your questions and sell you the ticket you actually need (plus you pay less if you buy from the agent) * It's close to the end of the line, which means more seat availability inbound to Chicago * It has several convenient scheduling options to and from Chicago * And lastly, there are two coffee shops within 50 feet of the station: Trax, which is in the station itself, and Grounds Coffee Bar, which is immediately north of the station One other note is that the conductors who run these lines have been really friendly, and I have really been on every train in the morning from the 606-636, and outbound from 625-663. If you've been a loyal Pingree user, or if you're thinking about commuting, you should definitely try the Crystal Lake station!

Just a few block walk up to Polk Street (UIC Medical District). Felt very safe on the platform and on the train, well lit at night for the return trip. Trains every 8 to 10 minutes. It deposited us at Washington and Wabash, just a mere block away from the Mag Mile and Millenium Park, dead center of the Lakefront. A mere five bucks a day for unlimited riding. Also a very courteous and informative CTA employee, who was very patient with us out-of-towners.
