Scheduling my pre-OP appointment/evaluation was easy. After seeing my regular eye doctor they referred me to PCLI. I received a call from the scheduling company within a day or two. She worked around my schedule and I got an appointment on the calender. A week before my evaluation, I received a message that they needed to reschedule and they gave me a time that didn't work with my kids drop-off schedule for camp. I left a few messages and an email to say I couldn't make the time they rescheduled me for. I finally got a call back ther morning of my appointment. That was frustrating but we got things figured out. My evaluation was fast. I waited 2 minutes before being taken back. The doctor stayed as long as I had questions and I never felt rushed. After that they let me consider and think about the risks and told me to just give the scheduler a call when I was ready if I wanted to move forward. Never any assumptions that I would but left it in my hands to make the best choice for me. I really appreciated that. They never held back or diminished the possible risks flit such a surgery. Scheduling my lasik appointment was again really simple. I called the lady I worked with before. A week before my surgery the scheduler called to tell me a few things to do or not do that week in preparation. She also answers my last few questions and really put my anxiety at ease. I really appreciated her. The morning of the surgery I had my husband drop me off before taking children to school which meant I was there 20 minutes early. No big deal. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the place and the company of the ladies at the front. At 8:30 they took me back to the prep area. They had a locked locker for me to store my belongings of which they gave me a key so only I could access it. They were so very nice. They even gave me a gift for choosing them (a fleece vest). My husband was allowed to come back with me and watch the procedure. Before the procedure the doctor came to introduce himself and to answer any concerns. Wow! Impressive and shows great patient care. Once I'd been numbed to a degree they took me back to a sterile surgery room. Before they started the doctor asked if he could pray ( he would have skipped this if had asked). I said of course but I also wanted to pray for them. It was a very special moment and the feeling in the room was one of sweetness. The doctor told me everything that was happening as it was happening. I knew what to expect. It was a fast procedure. All in all from being brought to the prep area to walking out the door I was there an hour. It never felt rushed either and I never had pain or discomfort. I highly recommend this facility. Professional, speedy, thorough, customer oriented, beautiful facility. Can't go wrong.

Went back recently and the process was excellent and he explained everything they could do for me and what they couldn't do for me. The lens replacement has been a game changer and its now been just over two months and I haven't picked up a pair of glasses yet. Thanks Dr. Blaylock and the team at Valley Laser Eye Center!

They each go beyond the call of duty day in, day out, every day without fail. I'm from Denver yet decided to fly all the way out to Vancouver then commute from there to Abbotsford. I heard Dr. Blaylock was the best ophthalmologist in the world, and I settle for nothing less than the best. He lives up to the hype. Prior to surgery, I had 20/300 vision; now I have 20/20 on the verge of 20/15, as confirmed by my local optometrist. Part of the reason I made the trip to Abbotsford is because I have really thin corneas (under 500 microns), so I was not a good candidate for LASIK or PRK. My only alternative was an implantable collamer lens (ICL), but I had astigmatism that was until recently just over the maximum threshold in the US and consequently needed toric ICL, the kind for astigmatism. Even though toric ICL is now approved in the US, as of this writing it still requires an iridotomy, which is a hole in your eye instead of the lens to relieve pressure. In Canada, the hole is in the lens, not your eye. I'll admit I don't entirely understand it all...I just know I don't want the hole in my eye. I also have "freakishly big eyes" as diagnosed by Dr. Blaylock himself, but fortunately I fell just within the maximum lens size for toric ICL. And I am 100% satisfied with the result. Initially I had bad halos, floaters, and flashes, all of which are normal, but now they're barely noticeable. I very much love being able to see clearly without glasses or contacts! By the way, my first surgery was successful for the right eye but not the left (my left eye was okay, but the left ICL tore). I am only the second patient this has happened to out of almost a thousand surgeries. Another doctor may have still put the torn lens in my eye and hoped I didn't notice, but this is what separates Dr. Blaylock from other doctors, for he refused to do that. Instead he insisted on ordering me a brand-new lens as well as flying me back out on his own dime (literally all travel expenses paid for by him, from the private jet to the helicopter to the limousine to the penthouse suite...okay, so it was actually from the public bus to the coach flight to the Budget rental car to the Travelodge by Wyndham, but same difference), for which I am forever grateful! Thank you, Dr. Blaylock and team, for taking such great care of me and helping me see clearly!

He is a big proponent of blue light filter lenses for people who use computers for many hours each day and he has spoken to me many times about the importance of having children's eyes checked early in life so as to detect potential problems. He always seems at ease and comfortable as he explains various technical terms in a way that is easy to understand and retain. Jill, the optician, is friendly and personable. When I picked out my frames she took a lot of time to help me find ones that I truly liked and that flattered my bone structure. I don't think that most opticians would be so thorough and honest with their customers when it comes to picking out their frames. I didn't feel rushed through the process at all and I love the way my glasses turned out! Tina is kind and has a very calm manner about her. She is certainly a pro with all the various eye testing machines around the office. But what stands out about her is the rapport that she builds with her customers. I hadn't been in to the office in many months but she remembered details that we had talked about during my previous visits. She knows how to make a customer feel valued. Jackie is always sweet and efficient and seems to enjoy her job and her coworkers. It is always a pleasure to come into the office for my appointments. I highly recommend Advanced Vision to anyone who is in the market for an optometrist!

When I picked up my glasses, asked again if I owed anything more - again 'no'. A month later, I'm told 'you have an outstanding balance of $128 - When I asked why, the response literally was 'I don't know, you just have a balance.' Now it turns out that the amount my insurance covered was 'less than we assumed.' None of that was ever explained throughout the process, until after I got my past due notice. Fact is, the cost is now as much as it would be for new frame and lenses anywhere else - Had I known that, I wouldn't have agreed to the transaction. Add to that the whole 'insurance paid less than we thought' thing - I've bough many a pair of glasses under the same insurance I have no - Never had an outfit pull that one on my before. When I complained, the office manager paid lip service to waiving the $128, but literally when I got home, my wife said she'd paid the bill - When I emailed that fact to the store, twice, I received zero response or acknowledgment, and still have not a few weeks later. Me burned is a lesson learned - NEVER again will I do business here, and I'll make a point of letting anyone and everyone know that when the subject comes up.

It means Dr Kirzner has extensive experience in the field because he's done over 80000 procedures!! My first contact with them was through email. I had asked how long in advance I was to book for an appointment in July. They replied and told me to contact them in May for a July appointment. I called their office to book my appointment then and they took my credit card number for the $300 deposit to secure my spot. Shortly after, I received their information package in the mail. The week of the surgery, I flew in from Calgary the day of my pre-operative exams to see if I was a good candidate for PRK or LASIK. Because of my read up on their very informative website I knew that I was probably going to go with PRK. (Long spiel about the different procedures explained on their website if you're so inclined to know.) It was a bit of a wait to see someone; from the time I got there until the time I left took almost 2 hours. Next day, I am going in for my laser procedure! I get there an hour before the scheduled time to to prep and redo my eye exams two more times. First up, they explain the eye drop medication schedule to you and place them all into the blue pouch along with some really awesome sunnies for after. (Actually, the sunnies are kind of hideous.) Payment is processed and another little eye test again. Dr Kirzner was the first to do my actual eye exam again and then Jeff (?) did the second. Once that was finished, onto the waiting room in the surgical section... When they're ready for you they'll get you to don an awesome surgical cap and booties! You lay down right under the laser and try your best to get comfortable. You'll get numbing eye drops which sort of sting when they're first administered. (Hey, where was the Valium I was hoping to get?) My heart was beating pretty heavily at this point but they explain every step of the way what's expected of you and what they're doing to you. Left eye gets covered first and your right eye gets clamped open. You concentrate on a red blinking light. The assistant announces "30 seconds," at which point Dr Kirzner starts to apply the solution to wipe away the epithelial layer of your eye. Laser starts up and he warns you that you'll smell something like burning hair. I don't feel a thing. I just hear the laser beams doing their thing and my eyes can literally see the patterns that are being burned away. So cool!!! And then it's done within seconds and he covers my eyeball really quickly, then blasts a cold cold liquid solution into my eye. He says, "brain freeze!" to warn me beforehand. A number of different eye drops are administered, then the bandage lens is put in which is basically a contact lens. The eye patch is removed and placed on the opposite eye and all is repeated. Done! I was escorted to the recovery room and laid on a chaise to relax. I was given eye drops to put in 10 minutes later on my own. There was a patient's husband waiting for her in there as well and at one point I started to sit up and chat with him. I was promptly told to lay back and close my eyes by one of the assistants. Oops! It just goes to show how uncomplicated the procedure can be. I felt like I could see pretty well at this point. About 45 minutes later Dr Kirzner came out of the surgical suite to quickly take a close look at my eyes, put in more eye drops, and then let me go. I have my follow up the next morning to check how they're healing and to look for signs of infection. I truly feel that this practice is wonderful and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Not just for their incredible pricing, but for how I felt I was treated by all the staff there. It is a busy practice and it is expected that there will be waits, but never did I feel that I was just another number. I paid $2090 for both eyes for uncomplicated PRK plus $200 for medications as of July 2016. Just a side note: I did overhear that they're moving their office in August so people can probably expect a longer wait for an appointment while they get settled in and move.

Wednesday I worked my last shift, and Friday I had my LASIK surgery done. I certainly am happy with the decision to go through with it. The entire process was smooth and easy, and the people at this location were absolutely excellent. As a 57 year-old, I was a little concerned that these old eyes could cause issues, but it seems like my age was not a major concern. I dealt mostly with Alyssa and Adriana (hope that's how they are spelled) and they were professional, but also caring and supportive. The time spent with Dr. Nagy was very brief, but he, and everyone else, was careful to make sure that I had no unanswered questions or concerns. The procedure itself was a little stressful for me - I get a little squeamish - but I was provided a gentle sedative, which helped out. There was some mild discomfort during the procedure, but it was brief. The rest of the day there was only a very mild level of dryness and very slight stinging in my eyes. The next day (today) there is no pain at all, and my vision is 20/20! I am only 30 hours into my new correction-free life, and looking forward to things like backpacking and sailing without having to worry about either glasses or contact lenses!

I am so happy I had upgraded lens replacement surgery on both eyes! I am writing this review…read morewithout my glasses, which makes me smile. Overall, a very good experience with NW eye. The surgeon is just delightful and I am still healing/getting used to my eyes (only been 1 week since the second eye) but I can tell already that this was a great decision for me. I'm only 62, but I had the beginning of cataracts (I am told this is very common at my age) and my vision was getting worse. I was so sick and tired of readers on-and-off, and it was a nuisance for teaching--had to perch glasses on the end of my nose. No more--I can read my lessons and talk to the students without any correction now. Upgraded lenses are expensive, but insurance paid for half of the total due to the cataracts, which are covered--I just had to pay for the special lens. My lesson learned to pass on is to get the second eye done as soon as comfortable. I think I had a harder time adjusting to and recovering from the first one because the upgraded lens are meant to work with each other. Once I had the second one done, the first felt instantly better. The second eye recovery was so much quicker! They tell me each eye is individual in how it recovers. OK--so why not 5 stars? I had to dock them one for the often frustrating lack of cohesion between the BHam clinic and the Mt. Vernon surgery center. I LOVE the way Mt. Vernon runs, and the staff are so nice and friendly. Not the same vibe in BHam. They are nice, but not as customer-service oriented. Just getting through to a human on the phone is a challenge, and you might get different versions/opinions from different doctors and staff in BHam. They all seem a little green. The call center doesn't always have accurate information. My only note about Mt. Vernon is that the discharge person is a bit abrupt and physically rough--which is a bit disconcerting when you are still a bit disorientated and feeling vulnerable right after surgery. (Both times so I know he wasn't just having a bad day).) It would be nice to have some of the more compassionate care you get before surgery. A last impression is just as important as a first one.
