I've read that they will be closing for good soon. Hopefully that changes somehow. We have started calling and emailing Cal Trans and our Yuba City officials about keeping this park open, as no City funded parks with fenced dog areas exist. We had wanted to take our dog to a dog park and so thought we would check out the Woodland Dog…read morePark. He loves lots of grass and meeting other small dogs. It is part of a large sports complex and there is plenty of parking with a lot covered. The park is separated into a small dog area (dogs under 20 pounds) and large dogs. There is a large grassy area with chairs for owners and a picnic table to sit at. There is also a water spigot to give your dog some water. There were also some toys for them to play but you can bring your own of course. When we entered several small dogs came over to greet us and our pup. He was happy to see others his size and went crazy with all the smells. Many of the other owners introduced themselves and their dogs. Most of the dogs played together and all got along. We will definitely be back to let our little guy have some fun off the leash. (Forgot to take pictures because I was so busy with the dogs and owners so will take some next time.)

We also had a nice long walk at Bidwell the following day, so it could have been picked up anywhere. That said, maybe put up a park notice that either a dog that was potentially exposed prior to going to the park, or picked it up at the park? There were a couple of puppies there who weren't yet fully vaccinated, so hopes they're all OK! Park gets a solid 4-stars (Bidwell is steep competition!) but please keep water buckets clean, just in case... and maybe the notice. Thanks!

Compared to some other parks I've been to in Chico, this one is on the safer side. I've yet to have a negative experience here. Normally my reviews are a little longer, but it's a public park. You can come bask in the sun, unwind a little, play a sport, meet a friend, chat a little and have a pleasant time, sit on a bench while staring into the distance for no other reason other than it's calming. That's what I do when I go to any park.

Lots of open parking, part of the newly developed homes for sale. Really thoughtful with the dog-height water fountain. I like to take warly morning walks through the park, getting my steps in. There are often many joggers, walkers, bikers and kids playing and families picnicing. Bidwell is the heart of Chico, spanning over 3,600 acres. Through the different seasons, the leaves change and provide a really beautiful park to explore. It's an older park, which you can see in the details - the outdoor swimming pool, bridges and layout. It was established in 1905, but has a long history of incorporating new areas to the park. I highly recommend checking out Bidwell Park, it's a natural treasure.

We frequented this dog park when we were vacationing in the Clearlake area this summer. It looked…read morequite different from the photos that were previously on yelp but I guess the area gets quite dry in the warm season. On our first visit, there was a group of adorable small dogs there and we were excited to have them to play with our girl. Unfortunately as we exited out vehicle, three of them rushed up to the fence and actually pushed under and got out. I was really worried as the entrance is on the corner of two streets with vehicle traffic but the owner did not seem to care. I was able to get all the dogs back inside the park by bringing my girl in...they were all boys so they happily followed. If you use this park, please beware that the dogs are able to get out under the chain length fence in they push hard enough. The park was really dry but there was some shade and toys to play on. They also had potty bags available at one of the stations on a further end of the park. I did not see any of the other dog owners pick up after their dogs which was discouraging but there isn't much else in the area so this did fine. If you watch where you step and are careful not to let your dog escape through the fence, you should be ok.

I have a young dog who is learning her manners, and is often mistaken for a Pit Bull. Many of the small dog owners were nice and understanding that puppies must make mistakes to learn, but on more than one occasion, we'd had a run in. It got to the point we'd end up getting verbally assulted by the end of each visit. Our dog was a pup and still working out her rude behaviors when we would go. The small dog owners had no tolerance for this, and I had to stop a couple of old Women from taking swings at my dog when she'd go by. It was insane. A couple of times a womn as able to land some kicks to my dog's head. So we don't go back. It makes for a miserable situation for everyone and leads to dog fights becuase they pick up on the negativity. I heard that they opened another dog park on the other side of town. I hope they put in a security guard to moderate the aggressive, fight-picking owners.

If you have a dog there freaking pick up it's poops, and KEEP IT ON A LEASE!
