The University location was easy to find as was parking! Love my hygienist who asked probative questions that were not invasive and so friendly. As a new patient: bring it on!! Dr. Anderson was lovely and very funny. Made to feel comfortable without bring pushy. And has 30 years in the industry! Took x-rays and reviewed the findings with me to discuss treatment plan. Going back in 2 weeks to my new dental home focused on patient wellbeing and supreme care. Outer waiting area is spacious with a tv and a snack bar with coffee and water! I had a gum graft done with Dr. Corwin and did not have a good experience. My consultation went…read morewell, but the day of the procedure, neither Dr. Corwin or the nurse, Regina, went over what exactly would happen. I had to ask specific questions to find out the process and what the recovery would be like, which was fine, but I would have appreciated a bit of explanation upfront. During the procedure, my mouth was numb but the numbing wore off towards the end and I could feel one of the stitches being put in. It brought me to tears and was painful. As a word of caution, the procedure is uncomfortable in general, where you can sense the cutting, there is a lot of pressure and stitches are flopped onto your face while they are being put in. If I were to have this procedure done again, I would opt for the anesthesia. I am not one to mind dental cleanings or procedures but this is an uncomfortable one. After the procedure, the nurse offered to bring me Advil, but because I was numb, I wasn't able to swallow the water to take it. The nurse laughed about the situation which really upset me, especially in the state I was in. When it came time for payment, the office staff did not have record of which payment option I had selected, even though I had called after my consultation to schedule my procedure and let them know my payment selection. So I had a bit of scrambling trying to recall what my husband and I had decided on payment wise, as I thought it would be on file and wouldn't be something I needed to worry about the day of the procedure. The doctor and staff were friendly and tried to make the best of the situation, but I will not be returning to Charlotte Perio for the second round of gum grafting, given the experience I had.

UPDATE. 06/24 WELL!…read more The day Dr. Tj Habashi quit along with the blessed office manager Candace, the whole dental practice fell apart as did the Roman Empire. Dr. Engels wife Tiffanie took over. The most miserable woman on the planet. It's very sad. What was once what I described in my former review as "the dental Shangri La" is now the dungeon of hell. I have been very ill. My BP has been running 200/120. THIS is hypertensive critical and death defining. I asked Tiffanie to please provide me with my medical records with attatched afadavit to authenticate them for legal reasons and her reply was, "that's not my job and I'm busy". She was rude, belligerent and unkind actually sub human. Since Engel Dental Institute is not a corporation and has no medical records custodian it is the responsibility of the doctor in charge or the office manager. Since Tiffanie is Engels wife she holds herself up on a pedestal and not subject to anything she does not want to do. Not even to save a life. So as the court suggests that I bypass her and Subpoena Dr. Engel and hold him accountable and file a formal complaint with the North Carolina dental board. Dr. Engel has no choice but to comply with the court. If he does not he will be held in contempt and face jail time with hefty monetary fines. Doctors believe they are above the law and don't have to abide with anything. Wrong! This time that will not happen. Please beware of this medical practice and if u were a satisfied client you will be putting yourself in a dangerous scenario. Consider going elsewhere. What was once a place of hope is now a place of sorrow.

As I await for the person to come take my temperature I wonder if they will have a solution. I am here for a second opinion. I had a implant that had to be removed due to severe bone loss.
