Fast forward to now, knots are even worse and take up most of my back and neck. She used a hot stone which was seriously amazing. I have some really rough spots on my back and my neck, and although discomfort is inevitable, she did a phenomenal job not making me want to cry. It was still super relaxing and felt really good. I saw Jaye for the first time yesterday and I couldn't be more pleased. She is a true master of massage. I have had at least 50+ massages from private therapists, wellness centers and doctors offices most often paid for by my insurance. I have rarely encountered a therapist with Jaye's skill set and understanding. She took the time to diagnose and explore what was happening to my body and causing me pain. Jaye is a remarkable and knowledgeable massage therapist, and totally lived up to the billing. I'd been suffering from chronic shoulder and neck pain for a long time, and Jaye was able to help about 80% after the first session. Subsequent sessions have helped me identify other problems and start to work on reprogramming how my nerves move my muscles which affect my bones. So I'd been working 12-16 hour days for weeks straight, sometimes with weekends off, but other times not. Mama's don't let your babies grow up to be advertising producers. But I digress... ANYWAY, my back and neck were so knotted up on top that I'd had a severe headache for days that only opiates could combat. Because I didn't want to have to develop a habit and find myself checking into Betty Ford, I checked in with BodyTrippin' simply because it was a few minutes from my house and had good Yelp reviews. This is easily of the best massages I've ever had and I've had a lot (hundreds, probably): everything from ashiatsu (where the therapist walks on your back) at an solid old school Korean spa to the more laid back types you get at places like Burke Williams or other higher end spas. Jaye worked out all of the knots that had been making me nuts for days (maybe even a week), and even found a few more and knocked those out too. Her bodywork was strong and solid without feeling rough. Strength in massage therapy is really important to me because wussier massages do absolutely nothing for my pain; the great part is when I told Jaye that, she listened, and the massage was perfect. I did take a look at her site in advance and figured out what I needed... apparently Trigger Point Therapy is the trick. Typically I'll grab whatever specials or deals ( ie Groupon, Yelp ) and get massage therapy from people with ok results. Getting one from Yelp with Jaye at BodyTrippin' was one of the best ones I've had so far where now I am a repeat client. Jaye really knows and understands the body. Like any expert, you tell them what ails you and they know exactly how to remedy the situation efficiently and effectively. She's also flexible with her schedule, really friendly and always gives good deals occasionally. Jaye was fabulous! I've had chronic pain in my upper back for years and I've never been to a massage therapist who was able to relieve the pain after only 1 session. I just got back from my massage with Jaye and felt compelled to write a review. I work as a waitress, which takes quite the toll on my body and often my back and legs are just masses of tangled knots. During the massage it felt like a fairly routine, relaxing massage experience with a few moments of "ow" when she worked out my knots but afterwards was when it hit me. I have no idea what she did to my body but I have never felt more relaxed and comfortable in my life. The baseline feeling of tension and discomfort that I always carry around in my shoulders and legs was just melted away. Amazing. I've had plenty of therapeutic massages at well known spas and from excellent CMTs in the Chicago Land area, and after seeing Jaye about a half dozen times, I feel qualified to write a review. Here's my experience: First: What enticed me to schedule with BodyTrippin were the flexible hours, evenings and weekends in particular, which work well with my crazy schedule. At first I was wary booking online, but it was simple and fast through the Web site. Reliability is essential because my time is valuable. No hassles. Second: The business is located in a safe and quiet neighborhood, in which parking seems available. I bicycled to the sessions and left my bike in the facility's garage. Convenient. Third: I took advantage of the shower once after biking there on a super hot day. The session room is clean and quiet. The music is appropriate. Good ambiance. Lastly: My ninety minute sessions were remarkable. I felt that Jaye had almost super intuition because she dug into the knots in my back and calves and provided all around awesome deep tissue/Swedish massages that put me in the zone and left me feeling that the weight of the world dropped from my shoulders. I received a massage from Jaye last December for the first time as she offered an introductory special of 90 minutes for $75. It was close to my house and it was a great massage. I've received many massages and this one was good, although not the best I've ever received. But it's so dependent on preference and communication. Jaye was great and listened to my lifestyle/habits to understand where I hold stress, and she was able to detect where I was sore throughout my body. I haven't been back but it has nothing to do with my rating of the Jaye, and more to do with my schedule and finances. The name change closely reflects her philosophy about her clients' needs and its exciting, I plan on coming back. And about Jaye... this girl is definitely a trip! With the soothing reggae beats in the background, I could feel myself relaxing away.. much cheaper than a vacation. As a teacher and marathoner, my body and sanity takes a beating on a regular basis. I've been a regular client for a couple of years and she helped me out on numerous occasions. I've been seeing Jaye for my massages before she ventured out on her own. Before she did, there was some lag time on response and her availability was limited. Now her response time is very quick. I contacted Jaye about a possible massage and she responded the same day and I got a massage scheduled the very next day. No waiting in discomfort!! The environment is very calm and peaceful and the background music is very relaxing as well. I have been to the office to see Celia and she is outstanding for prenatal massage. I highly recommend her there for general and prenatal. I just had my little girl 3 1/2 weeks ago and could not get to the office for a massage. I checked the site and found that Jaye did mobil massage and what a life saver.
