This was the weirdest massage experience ever.
I asked for a 60 minute hot stone massage.
The masseuse used hot stones for about 5 total minutes of the 60.
The massage was INCREDIBLY rough and indelicate. It was not relaxing at all...it felt like a brute was performing the massage. Example, with the hot stones, the masseuse put one stone in each of my shoulder blades and then put his hand over them and *raced* them up and down my back as fast as he could for a few minutes, then that was the end of the hot stones.
The masseuse kept leaving the room for several minutes at a time. Sometimes a DIFFERENT masseuse would come in and massage me while the other was out...but also sometimes nobody came in.
My massage room door kept opening while other employees came to talk to my masseuse.
I was in INCREDIBLE pain about 8 hours after the massage. When I say incredible, I mean excruciating. My husband tried to caress my shoulder (just lightly brushing my skin, no pressure) and I jumped and yelped (no pun intended). It was that bad.
The facility itself is also weird. When we arrived the open sign was on and we were on time for our appointments. But the door was locked. There was a "ring bell" thing with a doorbell taped haphazardly to the door glass, but it took about 5 minutes before they finally answered.
There were cleaning implements all over - several brooms, a mop, some Lysol, a rag, squeegee, etc, but the place was also kind of dirty. The inversion table was covered in dust, there was an abandoned (?) fish tank with old water and scum in it, the windows had lots of buildup, to where I actually thought there was privacy film on them but no they were just dirty.
And the weirdest thing is that it looks like someone might live there? There was a single unopened box of Irish Spring tucked behind some random teacups on a shelf. There were gym shoes next to the hallway. There was a scale (for weighing humans) under a cabinet. And the very first room in the hallway is someone's personal space that certainly looks like a studio apartment, complete with a bed (with linens and pillows and blankets), clothes on the floor, a table with cooking appliances, a dresser, etc.
It was weird, man. read more
