Melrose Oriental Rug Co - Merry Christmas

Melrose Oriental Rug Co

Back in April, my wife "tasked" me with finding a new oriental rug for our living room. Based on…read moretheir outstanding reviews, I went to MOR and met David Mouradian, the face and, dare I say, personality of this family-owned business. After showing him pictures of our living room and explaining what we seemed to like, David showed me about 10-12 rugs and was very helpful explaining the differences between the styles/patterns, manufacture and quality, as well as appropriate sizing. With his guidance, I boiled it down to four and arranged to have them delivered to the house so we could see what they looked like with our furniture & colors (btw, I highly recommend doing this). My wife and I were so blown away, by how the rugs transformed the room, that we decided to buy one for our dining room as well. Both are hand-woven, tribal patterns from Afghanistan. Since then, I've taken four older rugs in for cleaning and one fringe repair....they look great! David and his team are exceptional at what they do. I could not be happier to have found and worked with a business like this - great experience all around!!

If you are simply buying a rug Melrose Oriental is fine. Nice selection to choose from…read more I brought a rug in to be cleaned and it was returned to me damaged. I understand you sign a waiver that states they can't guarantee spots will be removed but in my case they removed the dye from the rug, briefly mentioned it to me when I picked up my rug, never showed me what happened, and still charged me for the full cleaning despite damaging my rug. It seems like whoever was doing the cleaning didn't have enough expertise to know how to treat or clean my rug and irreparably damaged it. The fact that I was still charged the full amount for the cleaning felt disingenuous. They clearly knew they had damaged the rug as they mentioned it to me upon pick up. Not showing me the area affected when I was there felt like they were trying to hide their mistake. Be very cautious when you bring rugs here to be cleaned.

Fantastic. One of the BEST experiences I have ever had. Easy to work with, no pressure,…read moreknowledgeable, professional, and super quick delivery. Walked into their showroom on Saturday 11/1. I was warmly greeted by both Mikes. Very pleasant, friendly, and easy to communicate with. Told them what we were looking for and they pointed out some options and then let us wonder without being hawked. I was also impressed that they started out by showing us the lowest cost items first (vs. trying to sell me the most expensive stuff they had). After wondering for a few minutes we picked out the carpet we wanted. Checkout was quick and painless. We were in the store for maybe 30 minutes total. They also delivered and installed the carpet runner just 4 days later. The install crew showed up on time, they were very friendly, and they got right to work. They installed the runner in just under an hour and did an excellent job on clean up (not a single piece of clean up was left). Again, one of the best experiences I have ever had. Strongly recommend. PS: I must mention that I had tried one of there competitors first (AJ Rose) it was a complete disaster. Spent over 3 months, 4-5 calls, 3 return trips to the store trying to get this same simple carpet runner installed. After multiple delays, mix ups, and failure to return a simple phone call ... I gave up, got my money back, and went straight to Village Carpet. If you are considering flooring I would stay away from AJ Rose and head straight to Village carpet. Oh ... and Village Carpet was cheaper than AJ Rose.

Great service. Very accommodating! Would highly recommend. Great working with a local business!read more

Koko Boodakian is the only place I would ever buy rugs from. I have been to the store many times…read moreand have always been welcomed by the owner and other staff. They have an amazing selection of rugs from different parts of Iran and other countries as well. They also have a vast collection of vintage rugs. The owner has immense knowledge about each rug and is a trusted rug appraiser. I have bought few rugs from this place. Each rug is a unique piece and represents a different design and culture. All handmade and from wool, cotton and other organic materials. I got my last rug when I was in Ohio. The owner sent me images of a collection all with very affordable prices. He shipped the rug to my address with no hassles. I received the rug and immediately saw an upgrade to my apartment and everyday life. Feels great to walk on a piece of art made from organic wool material. Of course these rugs last hundred of years and are sustainable with no plastic in them.

They "cleaned" and held the rug for months, didn't repair anything, and then told me it was beyond repair but they could spray paint the badly damaged areas. I picked up the rug and brought it straight to Koko Boodakian, where they not only thoroughly and properly cleaned the rug, but hand-repaired the rug in-house, all in much less time than it took the other place. Color and pattern matching is excellent. And Sager, my main contact, was fantastic. The rug may not be perfect but it's pretty close. Thank you Sager and Koko for saving a very special carpet for me! I know who to trust with my carpets.

Bradford Floor & Home

Bradford Floor & Home

A couple years go we used Bradfords for a carpet installation. This time we needed hardwood…read moreinstalled in a new home office. We had such a wonderful experience previously and hoped we would be as lucky the second time around. The floors came out absolutely perfect! They helped choose the best flooring based on the look we were after. Ultimately, we choose a new type of flooring that is waterproof and scratch proof and looks like real hardwood. The only downside is, now I wish we had that throughout the entire house because our dog's nails have done a real number on the original house floors and water stains in the kitchen. Alas, that larger project will have to be for another day when the penny jar is full. The installers worked quickly and flawlessly and were very helpful with the best options on how to blend the new floor with the floor that is in the rest of the home at the doorway for a seamless transition. We are perfectionists and are never thrilled to have to delegate home work to strangers, but thankfully we've found a company we trust with our floors. Highly recommend them and will let you know if we use them again in the future.

If anyone is in the market for a new floor it might be best to patronize the superstores in Danvers. They always call and ask how the workers performed. Pam was our sales director and it didn't seem to be disturbed about the awful condition of our place. Stan is a direct representative of sorts and I had complained about tiles not installed properly. He agreed because in one section I felt I was walking on a trampoline. When I didn't hear from Stan for a few weeks , we returned to the Bradford store on Newbury street only to find out he didn't remember me. That was our last interaction with Bradford. My wife was very upset; she saved up thousands. We only wanted to make things easier for our daughter (trustee) to sell our place when we are no more. James Dennehy
