I stopped in a cleaners that offered alterations, only to find they didn't mark your clothes for you, and expected you to know where they should be hemmed. Luckily, I found Northshore Alterations right across the street from the Food City in Bearden and they were excellent. The owner measured, and pinned all of my pants and got to the alterations quickly and did an excellent job. I had lost my previous alterations store so to a move out of state and was thrilled to find Northshore Alterations. They have dozens of different colors of thread to match your item perfectly and she was very pleasant to deal with and the alterations were done when expected. This lady is an absolute idiot! I asked her to replace the elastic in a draped blouse. I even brought her an exact replica for an example. I picked up the two blouses, trusting that she had replaced the elastic. She did not. I tried them when I got home to determine, that absolutely nothing was done. I 100% do not understand the negative reviews on here. I bought a bridesmaids dress based on measurements and had to have it taken in BIG TIME! The lady here was more than kind and courteous! She was able to pin it quickly and I left knowing it would be in good hands. It was a big project in my opinion. The dress was almost two sizes too big. It took her about a week. As a previous reviewer said, I also don't understand the negative reviews I've seen online. The work done by this place is exceptional in quality. I bring all my clothes here and have done for many years, because I know the end result will look good and hold up well. My mother also brings all her designer clothes here for tailoring - Chanel, Armani, etc - which speaks for itself! If you come in requesting something that they think won't work or won't look good, they'll tell you and recommend against it. Perhaps that annoys some people, but I appreciate a tailor who is knowledgeable about fabrics and clothing. Furthermore, I appreciate the honesty of someone who will give up the chance to charge money for something if it's not in the customer's best interest. I have come here a couple times and have been treated poorly each time as if I am a bother to the person working the desk. My last and final visit I was told they don't have buttons for shirts and I'd need to supply my own. What alteration place does not have buttons? Only went here once to alter suit pants. I asked to taper the legs and the ankle of the pants. Measurements were taken a lot quicker than I thought and the price was about 22-25$ which is reasonable for taper suits. I went in on Wednesday and got it back on Friday right when they opened at 9. read more

This is an exceptional business. I was in Knoxville for a quick family visit during cool and rainy weather and discovered that the only coat I brought was torn on the sleeve. I found the business in a Google search, came right in, explained the situation and was thrilled that they could fix it quickly. Later when I called to find out if the coat was ready, they remembered me, the piece, and the situation and said my coat was ready. I wish I had this tailor back home! Great service! Have been here twice and the owner was incredibly rude both times. Most recently, she hemmed a pair of pants and the hem came out after washing them once. I took them back for her to repair the shoddy job she had done and she had the gall to tell me that I should have brought them back within a week (it had been 3 weeks). Really? A hem should last the lifetime of the pants; not come out after one washing. She agreed to fix them THIS TIME. She made me feel as if I had done something wrong by expecting her to stand behind her work. I don't recommend Northshore Alterations unless you like to be abused by a business owner who doesn't stand behind her work or appreciate her customers. read more
