LESS THAN ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE- Beautiful $550 Marchesa dress ruined, $80 to alter, and I'm out almost $700 - wife/seamstress altered from waist up when was only supposed to be taken in hip area and straps shortened. I write this review to hopefully prevent another customer service disaster like I had there today. If you don't have an issue, you won't know and good for you! The dress was not ready the day the husband promised on 7/25. He knew I wanted to pick up earlier since it's for a very important event. After several calls and attempts to pick up in the days after 7/25, the husband continued telling me that it wasn't ready, that they were working on a wedding dress. I'm sorry, but I don't really care about excuses. Anyway, we were finally able to pick up a week late. The waist up fit perfectly fine when I dropped off, and was NOT supposed to be altered. Now I cannot zip it up. Called to explain the issue and the husband giggles and tells me just come in and they'll see what they can do. Not considering or caring that I'm 1/2 hr away and my schedule is tight. I get there and they talk over each other the whole time making it very difficult to have any sort of conversation, but suffice it to say that they both kept denying that they altered the top of the dress. I saw what appeared to be chalk markings near the zipper and the sides, which is usually how they mark for altering, and pointed that out. They both responded louldy while the wife was wiping it off, denying they marked the dress. It was almost controlled chaos. I had just purchased the dress and brought to them with no markings. THEY THEN TOLD ME I MUST HAVE GAINED WEIGHT. I did not, as proven by the fact that the hip area where wife altered the dress fit perfectly, which they kept telling me. How could that be if I gained weight? It couldn't. I was obviously upset, asking them what they were going to do about it. The man told me that they could take it out on top, but that would be another alteration, ie I would need to pay for that which was ridiculous, like the whole experience. But the wife then told me there was no way to take it out. They continued talking at me, both at the same time, and the husband was laughing and smiling. It was a nightmare, they did nothing for me except lie to me and ruin my dress, cause me a lot of stress and financial distress. I am out a lot of money and need to go find another dress in two days and spend more money. If you have had a similar issue at this business, please contact me. read more

They said it would take 6 days for them to hem my jeans. I came on the 6th day and they said that they weren't ready and I had to come back the next day. They told me that the jeans might be ready that night and they don't do "by time" pickups - that's literally not what a deadline means read more

After being turned away by another local alterations place, I was very pleased that Custom Fit Alterations was happy to alter my unique piece of clothing. They were welcoming, focused on addressing my needs, great communicators, and did a wonderful job tailoring my clothing. Thanks to them, my piece now fits very well and is flattering. I will be back! read more

Please be wary of Custom Fit Alterations in Knoxville! What started off as a decent experience quickly went REALLY bad. All I wanted done was two small extentions to my straps. They told me Thursday that it wouldn't be a problem and they would have a plan by Sunday. Fast forward to the FOLLOWING Thursday and I called to get an update. They told me they have no time to look in to finding the extensions. I'm not a seamstress but I offered to assist and send pictures of my ideas. They told me I had to go find the pieces myself and BRING it to them to see if it would even work. I asked what I should look for to which the female on the phone said I needed to TRUST them or come get my dress. Being shocked and no longer trusting them with my dress that I paid a LOT of money for, I chose to pick it up. When I got there and asked nicely for my dress, I was met with "oh, it's YOU. I've documented EVERYTHING and you are not welcome here anymore". I'm not sure how I did ANYTHING to offend her when all I wanted to do was be in the loop and have final say as to what they did to my dress. Also, they wanted to charge me $250 for something that literally takes 20 minutes to alter BY HAND. (according to several other seamstresses that I've talked to) and my dress NOW smells heavily like moth balls because their whole shop has moth balls laying in every corner. Don't make the same mistake I did on trusting these people to have integrity. read more

This guy right here knows what he is doing!!! Took my daughters wedding dress in here along with the bridesmaids dresses, and he was spot on. He was the only one in town that would alternate my daughters wedding dress how she wanted it. He took off the sleeves and made a bustle for the back of her dress to pull up the trane- and also fit it perfect to her body. All I can say is--- FANTASTIC JOB!!!! IT FIT TO A TEE- come in here folks!!! He knows what he is doing!!! Very nice job. Thank you sir so much for making my daughters dress on her big day more beautiful then it already was!!!! HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR WEDDING DRESSES AND BRIDESMAIDS DRESSES- read more

Amazing!!!! I needed a miracle alteration for my son's wedding and they came through. Well done and the cost was less than quoted.

I love this guy! I have brought many (at least 10) different items for him to fix over the last 3 years--shirts, dresses, pants, bikini tops, a men's leather coat...and he always does excellent work. Tucked in the corner of the Ross/Home Goods/TJ Maxx shopping plaza, right near Bargain Hunt and Payless Optical. Sign only says Alterations. His rates are very fair and he works expediently. Same day service available for certain items upon request. Occasionally has his son helping out--this is a nice small family business that I will continue to recommend and support. read more

Excellent tailor. He knows what he's doing for sure. I didn't need my blazer back very soon, but he had it taken care of in a week and it was in need of extensive alterations. He took in the chest, shortened the sleeves, took in the sleeve diameters and everything. It fits perfectly now. Absolutely amazing work and very professional and helpful read more

Y'all I never really take time to right reviews. But this guy is amazing. He has turned a dress of mine into shorts and a top, fixed anything I've needed, and is so reasonably price. Not to mention just a sweet sweet person to interact with. I will never go anywhere else! read more

He did an AMAZING job on my wedding dress!! It now fits me to a T! Would 100% recommend him to alter anything and everything!

During a 20-year career in the military I've been stationed in many places and have gone to many alteration shops and Custom Fit Alterations is by far the BEST tailor I've ever been to! The owner/tailor is the nicest gentleman you'll ever meet! And no matter what the job is, he gets it right each and every time! Trust me, your search for an amazing tailor is over! On top of that, his prices cannot be beat! But I assure you, I'd pay double for the quality of work that he does. It's THAT good! Can't rave enough about Custom Fit Alternations! I highly recommend this place! read more

I rarely need alterations done and tried this place for the first time this past week. I gave them 3 pairs of pants including one of the pairs needed to be hemmed and had a loose button that I asked them to reapply. It took an entire week for them to be ready which seemed like a long time for minor alterations. Then when receiving the pants, I tried them on and they fit well. When I got home I realized one of the buttons had already fallen off the pants. I found the button shoved into one of the pockets. Therefore, the button must have fallen off after I had tried the pants on and the tailor noticed and instead of fixing it, he just threw it in the pocket. Altogether I paid $80 to have 2 pairs of pants hemmed (which only one has a button now) and one pair have a new zipper. And I waited a week? Oh, and they don't accept debit or credit... read more

Kalip makes Custom Fit Alterations the best spot for alterations and tailoring in Knoxville. I went in needing a simple stitch along the seam of my dress pants and Kalip repaired on the same day at no cost. Absolute class act and will continue having my business. I strongly recommend Kalip and Custom Fit to anyone in the Knoxville area. read more

Arrived in to Knoxville from Los Angeles for a funeral and needed a rush alteration on a pair of suit pants. The owner of the business Kalip was AMAZING. We expected to have to come back in a few hours but not only did he stop what he was doing, but did the alteration on the spot with no hesitation. His work was first class and we expected it to be expensive because of the rush and it was NOT expensive at all. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND Custom Fit Alterations and Suit Retail. read more

The owner was so friendly and did a great job with my alterations. He was very meticulous and made sure I got exactly what I asked for. I will definitely be going here again if I need alterations. read more

What a way to make a first impression! Walk into a store where a mom and daughter are walking out smiling and laughing (a good sign), ask if I can get a hem re-stitched (expecting to drop off and pick up later), he says that he can do it while I wait. Two minutes later, a perfectly good hem is in place, he hands it back smiling, declines payment, and just asks that I write a positive review. Call it good a business practice, but you can bet that the next time I need an alteration of some kind I will be giving Custom Fit Alterations a second visit. read more

I'm giving two stars only because the quality work USED to be good from this place. I have been coming here for years getting my pants altered for work. I have had great experiences until recently. I have taken 4 pairs of pants here to be altered in the last two months and all 4 pants have come back problematic. The first two pair I had to bring back because the tailor forgot to take in the waist. When I got them back the second time there was no center belt loop left for my belt to hold them up!! And I later discovered that the right leg of one of the pants was much smaller than the left so now my right pant leg feels tight all day! Then the next two pair I brought a month later... the legs weren't tapered AT ALL as was requested, the center belt loop again was missing and there was a big pouch in the center of the butt where the waist had been taken in and created a pouch!! Overall I have spent over $140 for these alterations and I had to take them elsewhere to be fixed costing another $80. I'm not happy about the quality that's being put out whatsoever. I'm not sure if they've hired a new tailor or what, but they need some lessons on how to create a quality end product. Either be insanely specific with these people or take your business elsewhere is my recommendation. They got all the business they'll ever get from me. I won't be back. read more
