Please be wary of Custom Fit Alterations in Knoxville! What started off as a decent experience quickly went REALLY bad. All I wanted done was two small extentions to my straps. They told me Thursday that it wouldn't be a problem and they would have a plan by Sunday. Fast forward to the FOLLOWING Thursday and I called to get an update. They told me they have no time to look in to finding the extensions. I'm not a seamstress but I offered to assist and send pictures of my ideas. They told me I had to go find the pieces myself and BRING it to them to see if it would even work. I asked what I should look for to which the female on the phone said I needed to TRUST them or come get my dress. Being shocked and no longer trusting them with my dress that I paid a LOT of money for, I chose to pick it up. When I got there and asked nicely for my dress, I was met with "oh, it's YOU. I've documented EVERYTHING and you are not welcome here anymore". I'm not sure how I did ANYTHING to offend her when all I wanted to do was be in the loop and have final say as to what they did to my dress. Also, they wanted to charge me $250 for something that literally takes 20 minutes to alter BY HAND. (according to several other seamstresses that I've talked to) and my dress NOW smells heavily like moth balls because their whole shop has moth balls laying in every corner. Don't make the same mistake I did on trusting these people to have integrity. read more

This guy right here knows what he is doing!!! Took my daughters wedding dress in here along with the bridesmaids dresses, and he was spot on. He was the only one in town that would alternate my daughters wedding dress how she wanted it. He took off the sleeves and made a bustle for the back of her dress to pull up the trane- and also fit it perfect to her body. All I can say is--- FANTASTIC JOB!!!! I love this guy! I have brought many (at least 10) different items for him to fix over the last 3 years--shirts, dresses, pants, bikini tops, a men's leather coat...and he always does excellent work. Tucked in the corner of the Ross/Home Goods/TJ Maxx shopping plaza, right near Bargain Hunt and Payless Optical. Sign only says Alterations. His rates are very fair and he works expediently. During a 20-year career in the military I've been stationed in many places and have gone to many alteration shops and Custom Fit Alterations is by far the BEST tailor I've ever been to! The owner/tailor is the nicest gentleman you'll ever meet! And no matter what the job is, he gets it right each and every time! Trust me, your search for an amazing tailor is over! I rarely need alterations done and tried this place for the first time this past week. I gave them 3 pairs of pants including one of the pairs needed to be hemmed and had a loose button that I asked them to reapply. It took an entire week for them to be ready which seemed like a long time for minor alterations. Then when receiving the pants, I tried them on and they fit well. When I got home I realized one of the buttons had already fallen off the pants. I found the button shoved into one of the pockets. Therefore, the button must have fallen off after I had tried the pants on and the tailor noticed and instead of fixing it, he just threw it in the pocket. Altogether I paid $80 to have 2 pairs of pants hemmed (which only one has a button now) and one pair have a new zipper. And I waited a week? Oh, and they don't accept debit or credit... read more

What a way to make a first impression! Walk into a store where a mom and daughter are walking out smiling and laughing (a good sign), ask if I can get a hem re-stitched (expecting to drop off and pick up later), he says that he can do it while I wait. Two minutes later, a perfectly good hem is in place, he hands it back smiling, declines payment, and just asks that I write a positive review. Call it good a business practice, but you can bet that the next time I need an alteration of some kind I will be giving Custom Fit Alterations a second visit. read more

I'm giving two stars only because the quality work USED to be good from this place. I have been coming here for years getting my pants altered for work. I have had great experiences until recently. I have taken 4 pairs of pants here to be altered in the last two months and all 4 pants have come back problematic. The first two pair I had to bring back because the tailor forgot to take in the waist. When I got them back the second time there was no center belt loop left for my belt to hold them up!! And I later discovered that the right leg of one of the pants was much smaller than the left so now my right pant leg feels tight all day! Then the next two pair I brought a month later... the legs weren't tapered AT ALL as was requested, the center belt loop again was missing and there was a big pouch in the center of the butt where the waist had been taken in and created a pouch!! Overall I have spent over $140 for these alterations and I had to take them elsewhere to be fixed costing another $80. I'm not happy about the quality that's being put out whatsoever. I'm not sure if they've hired a new tailor or what, but they need some lessons on how to create a quality end product. Either be insanely specific with these people or take your business elsewhere is my recommendation. They got all the business they'll ever get from me. I won't be back. read more
