Pool/Hot tub: Is there truly a better way to end the day than to soak in a hot tub with palm trees and cabanas? I think not. Part of the deal was a beverage tray and floating food tray. First, Jana knew that my sweetheart and I don't drink alcohol, so Jana prepared non-alcoholic champagne! This was a special treat for us, as normally, we simply deny the alcohol and swallow the cost (that's already included in the deal). It was incredibly thoughtful of Jana to have something else prepared for us to enjoy. Along with the non-alcoholic champagne, she prepared clarifying mint tea, coffee, and sparkling mineral water. So refreshing as we floated in bliss. Then came the food tray. Oh. My. Droooooool. Tiramisu birthday cake, the biggest raspberry macaron, a quarter pineapple artfully displayed in the shell, crisp green grapes, literally the best turkey/bacon sandwich, and a delectable grilled chicken salad. Y'all, literally every single bite was top-tier. To top off the surprise, turns out Jana is the masterchef behind this amazing spread! That night's event was at a dance studio, & the open floor felt like a zen yoga space. The presence of huge crystal bowls & drums & a harp in the center of the room definitely added to that vibe! After everyone arrived & our individual yoga mats were spread out, Guy explained the process for newbies like me in attendance. There would be a period of collective breathwork, followed by an opportunity to scream out your own stresses/fears/sadness/basically anything that you'd like to release. Then the gongs & drums & bowls would sing, & that night, an extra treat of harp music. I had no idea what to expect, but it ended up being one of the most moving experiences I've ever had. A lot of people audibly had emotional responses, so it felt like a safe-feeling space to express it, & then let it go instead of hanging on to it. At the beginning of the event, it felt like there was a lot of anticipation in the air, & at the end, the room felt calmer, happer, brighter somehow. Nice! It's hard to explain exactly what you'll feel if you go, and impossible to predict how anyone will respond. So I say, just go with an open mind & experience it for yourself! Wear comfy clothes & shoes you can easily remove, & bring water, a yoga mat to lie on, a blankie of some sort to snuggle up underneath, someone to share in the experience with (optional!), and an eye cover if you think you'll be more relaxed with that on. When we went, it was $25/person, & lasted about 2 hours.

I first tried a free class one Saturday and then signed up for a two week trial which included an orientation with a coach to understand my baseline fitness and goals and help answer any questions. After the two weeks, had a check-in with a coach to see our progress and chat through future plans for our fitness journey. The coaches and staff at TruFit are awesome and have cultivated a great community. The equipment is great (especially if you're training for HYROX, they have all the stations), the gym is clean and spacious and has an outdoor space which I appreciate so it's never stinky. I love seeing the workouts before class so I know what to expect walking in. And as someone who has zero upper body strength, I appreciate the coaches for being able to help modify the workout to my level when I struggle but also push me to get stronger.
