I haven't ordered delivery for forever from anywhere. Wasn't feeling good last night so I decided to order pizza for delivery. Out of the 7 things I ordered 3 was actually was delivered. They forgot the other 4 items including soda at the store. They went ahead and cancelled those things off the order but refused to remove the tip. Restaurants wonder why people don't want to tip. The pizza was hard. The chicken wings were literally burnt black. I hate burnt food. They offered to go back to the store to get what they forgot but since they moved to north Ankeny it would have taken an hour to get the food delivered. So the food that I got was bad and they refused to reimburse the tip for the bad service. Their quality has really gone down. I won't be picking up or having it delivered again. May they close like the other restaurants that have forgotten how to make edible food and deliver the full order. read more

The inside of this location was very dirty. I know making pizzas is a messy process but this was dirty not messy. When I went in to pick up my order it had gotten put into the delivery pile in the drivers car. The employee had to go out and get it, luckily he had not yet taken off. I ordered a special pizza without cheese and the execution was disappointing compared to other pizza restaurants I have ordered the same thing from. Lazy to leave home today to get lunch so I ordered pizza, I chose Northern Lights because I wanted something other than Pizza Hut or PaPa Johns. I've heard good things about them but wanted to see for myself what they had to offer. I won't discuss the delivery time because there was a small issue and the order was delayed, I'm sure the delivery time is fine when there are no issues. Looking at their menu I was like a kid in a candy store. There were so many items that looked delicious. I decided to go with a more premium pizza, a Chicken Alfredo Supreme and Cheesy Sticks. The food came and the pizza was very unique and amazing! It is definitely not your huge chain pizza store. The taste is hard to describe, I would say it tastes REAL and well prepared. The price is a bit pricer than your normal chain places, but it is worth it. I cannot wait to try their other pizzas and items. I hear their grinders are supposed to be really good read more

Ordered from NPL. Was very disappointed got a gluten free pizza wings and a large pizza. I placed my order at 5:51 was told it would be 50 mins till delivery I didn't get my pizza till 7:40 almost 2 hours for delivery. I wanted bone in wings and revived boneless wings which looked like something you get from a box in the freezer aisle. The gluten free pizza was way under cooked and very doughy. Absolutely terrible. Ordered a taco pizza and a "deep dish" pepperoni and sausage. The lettuce for the taco pizza was brown and gross. The deep dish was salty and so greasy you could barely hold onto it. The delivery time was great but the best part was the orange crush which they couldn't have messed up... chewy gross pizza. Tried it for the first (and likely last) time tonight. I ordered it an hour ahead for a future time delivery. Pizza came when it was supposed to but was cold. If you can actually get the pizza it's good..however, this can be difficult. A few weeks ago, I placed an online order, after 1.5 hours of waiting, I called. I was told they were out of beef and they'd deliver when they had it again, someone was out to get it. The pizza did eventually turn up but it was barely still warm. More recently, I tried to call to place an order to pick up, I was driving home from 30 mins away. I was repeatedly put on hold, and was unable to place an order in those 30 mins. Called again when I got to Ankeny and asked for the manager to complain, the guy told me he was the owner, accused me of telling lies about my attempts to call and told me I had a bad attitude then hung up on me. I always order the Chicken Alfredo which comes with mushrooms, tomatoes, and chicken. I asked them to please leave off the mushrooms and tomatoes. They added onions and more chicken..it was the best. from the moment they answer the the phone and the delivery person is at my door, they are happy and friendly, and cheerful. Super bummed. Boneless chicken looked like mushy breaded blobs & was tasteless. The pizza was supposed to be "deep dish" and was definitely thin or at the very best hand tossed (not thick). The crust was supposed to be garlic/butter and was plain & bland without any butter or seasonings. We tried the specialty pizza (Frisco) and it was horrible. What very little cheese it had was burned and it had ZERO taste. The bread sticks were the only thing that were good. I ended up eating a can of tuna and a banana for dinner which tasted a whole lot better than what I paid $35.00 for. The $20 tip to the delivery driver is the ONLY thing I don't regret. He was very personable and it was a very cold night tonight. We decided to try a different pizza place tonight, but from now on we'll stick to the rivers and streams we're familiar with. YUCK! With lots of choices for takeout pizza, Northern Lights Ankeny stands out with good pizza and great service. We've liked Northern Lights for their tangy sauce, generous toppings and a crust crispy on the outside and still chewy on the inside. We recently used Northern Lights Ankeny for a large catered event for 60 people at a construction site. The owner provided great service and assured we didn't run out. The variety of pizzas provided answered all dietary needs, including vegetarian and religious exclusions. Contractors are notoriously hungry eaters at lunch and this was still an affordable and easy meal to celebrate a progress milestone. We'll use Ankeny's Northern Lights Pizza for future events and for family pizza takeout. Good value for really good pizza and excellent service. read more

I have eaten here at least ten times in the last year and a half and I honestly don't know what's up with the two bad reviews. They always have orders out quickly and if they don't they've given me a courtesy call. I worked front desk at a hotel and always suggested these guys first. The pizzas great, especially the thin crust and the service, while slow (reasonable considering how busy they get) has always been super friendly. I am angry and writing this review. Northern lights got new management and the whole operation stinks to say the least. The new manager isn't even allowing reviews on google... if that says anything. I am pregnant and all I want constantly is pizza from northern lights, but no. They stuck an ad under my door and I was unable to call to order because their phone line was down, talk about poor advertisement. That isn't all either... I went to the store last night at 9pm to order carry out and i couldn't even do that because their WEEKEND hours are 4pm-9pm! Really?! YOU SELL PIZZA. If they want to even think about competing with the other pizza places they should learn about business hours and customer service.
