Wow! What a great experience, start to finish.....I highly recommend Northern Extremes....Great Value for the price.....staff and guide are great....definitely coming back.
We opted for amid day 2 hour guided tour. 1 single snowmobile for my son who is 25 years old and a double for myself & wife who are in a late 50's. The GPS got us to within 1/2 mile traveling east on route 302. 1 call to the shop and he guided us right in. Could have just stayed on 302 and would not have missed it.
We arrived 1/2 hour early on a mostly cloudy day with temps in the mid 20's with no wind. Their shop was small but tidy and will organized with a staff of 3 and plenty of equipment and cold weather gear. We completed the necessary paperwork and adorned the appropriate safety gear and clothing. Their staffed fitted ud with helmets even showing me how to get it on with my eyeglasses and check our that our cold weather clothes were appropriate. This was not an upsell, they were totally concerned about our comfort. My son got boots, my wife pants, glove & boots, I was good with my own long johns, ski cote ski pants and winter boots.
We were joined by another family, boarded a small shuttle bus for a 2 minute ride across the street to where they keep the snowmobiles which is right next to the trails. There we found 20-30 relatively new, in good condition, 4 stroke machine in various configuration of single, double and triple rider versions. Our tour guide Ken, took roughly 10 minutes for orientation. He explained and demonstrated all the controls and proper operation of the machine, how to lean into turns and what to expect on the ride. He made eye contact and spoke to each and every on of us making sure we were comfortable and secure with our abilities and to answer any questions. Ken assigned the order of the 5 machine line, we fired up our engines and were off.
Kudos to Ken our guide. He is upbeat, conscientious, fun-loving, experienced and fun guide. Through-out the ride he oversees the team providing wonderful instructions, making eye contact and conversation with every one of his of his group, ensuring their safety comfort and good time. He even had an extra pair of gloves for a chilled rider. He allows you to go at your pace but is never far away slowing the group at each trail interchange to allow the team to re-group.
The ride was spectacular, having something for everyone. WE rode some great woodland trails that wind and curve up the mountain, a snow covered road closed for the winter that was wide and fairly straight for those wanting some speed. We got to stop at some great overlooks for beautiful photo ops and to stretch our legs. Ken our guide snapped the family shots. I won't steal all of Ken's thunder suffice it to say there are other pleasant surprises along the way. The 2 hours flew by, gone before you know it.
My family left having a great experience and wanting more. We were PUMPED! read more
