After several calls and a voicemail
Staining the same message I sent

The owner Elwyn is a dispicable human being. He was 20 minutes late to pick us up and we were the only 2 people there for a sold out tour. Tried calling and texting with no response thought we were being stood up. Finally sent a text stating we were leaving and want my $ back or I was filing fraud charges. Showed up as we were pulling out and yes we went Returned to camp and the texts started at 1am see below it was awful. I am not sure why he thought I knew so much about his business or that he was picking us up in a different spot. The only reason he assumed he saved me tome is I told him I was an hour away and they took a left to go back to N. Conway and I went right or North. Never told him where I was staying. Not to mention if he was picking people up in different spots he could have texted to say he was late... We did see moose but drove the same roads up and down for 4 hours... Find a different company!!!!

We had a great time on the tour, but I agree with many of the reviews below about the owner not having the most friendly personality. He could work on his people skills a little bit. We did see moose and the kids enjoyed the tour so all in all, I would recommend it.

We took a photo with our amazing your guide, Elwin!

My friends and I were visiting North Conway for the week and had an open mind when it came to what we wanted to do. I saw on trip advisor the MWV Moose Tours and I was curious! After reading some great reviews, my friends and I decided to go. We called in a reservation and met Elwin and his moose safari bus at the train station. After we got going, Elwin showed us an interesting video on moose in New Hampshire. It was still light out around 8 and he said most moose have been seen after 9pm. To our surprise, we were cruising down the road and came across a moose!! Elwin spotted a yearling and we turned around to get a good look at it. As the yearling ran, Elwin drove BACKWARDS as we followed the moose down the road. It was amazing!!! As the night progressed, we ended up seeing 5 moose. The last one we saw, we got to go outside of the bus and take photos!! It was great! My friends and I loved the dedication Elwin displayed to finding moose. Between the flood lights, spot lights, quick turn around and the action packed ride, we had an amazing time!! We also loved the colored lights and moose songs to jazz up the ride! One thing we would recommend is something lighter for the ride home instead of that very dry moose video. Perhaps some Rocky and Bullwinkle?? If you are interested in seeing a moose, do so on the moose safari. You won't be disappointed!!!

Later light show!

This was my second visit to New Hampshire and I sure wasn't going to miss a moose this time around. Elwin, proprietor of MWV tours was great. He couldn't guarantee us a moose sighting but delivered anyway. A moose was spotted within minutes of our tour. Halfway through our tour, it began to rain hard. Elwin continued to circle around and double back using his hand held flood light, he was able to illuminate another moose for us! We were also given the opportunity to see them close up. Elwin's persistence and keen eye throughout the night had us see a total of about 4 moose. The bus was equipped with flood lights, he made quick turn arounds so both sides of the bus could enjoy the view. He had a laser light show accompanied with stars on the ceiling. Elwin also had an array of DVDs with music and video played on the down time for everyone on board. We stopped for a restroom break at Twin Mountain Trading Post, the store owner opened just for Elwin and his tour! Home made fudge was delicious! The trip was well worth it. Elwin was a great tour guide. He knew just where to look. I highly recommend this trip for young and older people. Thanks Elwin!

Second time going. Great time in 2019 and saw 6 different moose. Does as advertised. Moose movie and dvds are entertaining. The other social media recommendations are terrific. Yelp is Yelp. Don't base your choice of going based on a few complaints here. For us last 2 years have been entertaining, fun, and have always seen moose. Really all went smooth and driver is great. Worth every penny. I will mention new bus this year is first class with huge widows and wicked bright lights. Will go again next year.

DOT approved? I think not.

Conway Scenic Railroad - Gift shop at the station

This is a historic railroad located in the White Mountains and it was built in 1874. The station is…read morein North Conway. We took a 55 minute round trip ride on this train during our visit. It's such a fun activity to do if you have kids, love history, and/or love trains. The employees were friendly, the seats were comfy, and the views were amazing. We went in May so the train was pretty empty; they gave us the option of riding in first class, free of charge. Score! They also told us stories and facts through the intercom. I highly recommend a visit!

I was very disappointed with my experience on the mountaineer train 4 hour ride a few months ago…read more We spent $159 just for two people on the most basic "coach" level seats! It was extremely overpriced and they charge an extra $4.50 per person in fees when booking online. Their lunches are $20 for a sandwich and snacks + drinks are ridiculously expensive. Now as for the ride, it was definitely too long. The first 1.5 hours is literally looking at nothing but the backyards of people's homes and the forest of trees. They have a narrator during the first half of the trip, but you could barely hear him at all. There's no cell service or Wi-Fi so you're really stuck to staring out the window. The train does get some nice mountain views for about an hour, stop at a tourist gift shop for 30 minutes, and come back the exact same way. The coach seats were ok and we got lucky it was a cool day with a nice breeze coming through the open windows. There is no AC in the coach seats, but it's available in first class and dome seats (however it does smell very musty/damp and would've made me cough the whole ride). The coach seats face each other, so leg room is literally impossible for 4 adults. We took up all the leg room with just 2 people. Overall, myself along with many other people on the train were not thrilled with the price we paid and what we got in return.

The 1785 Inn - water damage and leak in kitchen

The 1785 Inn

Highlights of review: bed sizes not all as advertised, serious plumbing issues, but lovely outdoor…read moreand common spaces and great location. We stayed at the 1785 Inn in North Conway NH in August of 2025. We booked the entire inn for our family reunion. The Inn is quite large and had enough bedrooms for even our large group, which is hard to find. Many but not all of the rooms had private bathrooms. The listing claimed that all the bedrooms on the top floor (rooms 11, 12, 13, 14) had queen beds or a combination of queen and twin beds. The four rooms on that floor all had double sized beds only. We had serious issues with the plumbing. The water in many of the showers would not stay an even temperature, and would go between ice cold and scalding hot regardless of the temperature adjustment on the faucets. This was especially the case in room 11 on the top floor and rooms 9 and 10 on the second floor. More concerning was water dripping from the kitchen ceiling. The ceiling had obviously sustained previous water damage, but when we reported it to the owner we were told that they had no knowledge of previous issues and suggested that it was because people were not putting the shower curtains inside the tubs. We checked all bathrooms and none had water on the floor. The leak continued to worsen over the course of the week, eventually dripping through the light fixture in the ceiling. We asked the owner to come inspect it and a plumber was dispatched. He did not fix it while we were there and also suggested it was due to misuse of shower curtains. We were left to simply turn the light fixture off and keep pots on the floor to collect the dripping water. These (concerning) issues aside, the Inn's gathering spaces inside and out are lovely. The view is amazing, and it sits right next to a scenic view pull off area. The pool had a few cracks in the steps and an unsteady railing but was enjoyable in the August heat. The hot tub worked early in the week but by the end was stuck in sleep mode. There was a great fire pit with plenty of seating. Inside, a beautiful sunroom and dining area lined with tables made large dinner gatherings easy. The pub area was also a hit with our group, and had coolers for beer and wine and a full set of glasses and bar tools behind the bar. The kitchen was set up like a restaurant kitchen, and there were enough dishes/utensils for our very large group. Please note that there is only one dishwasher, and it is actually a restaurant style sanitizer, so we had to hand wash a lot of dishes or do a lot of sanitizing loads. The takeaway: If you do not need to use all the bedrooms, or you do not mind double beds, then the sleeping spaces may be sufficient for your group. The plumbing needs a serious upgrade, but if you are not using all the showers you could find some that are usable.

The restaurant was a beautiful and lovely meal, real maple syrup, home baked goods, fresh…read morepreserves. I enjoyed complimentary breakfast here since I stayed at the Inn. The Inn however was one of the most "adventurous" stays on my trip out to the East side of the country. The bed was horribly uncomfortable and the water temperature was both freezing and scalding at the same time. Children running in the halls at all hours of the day. Dragging luggage up all those stairs. The guests staying on the road side of the Inn said it was pretty noisy. I was in awe of the amazing age of the structure, the view of the valley surrounding the property and the character all around. And the neat bar on the first floor was a taste of New England.

DO NOT STAY HERE. We…read morebooked a non refundable room for another family member on our trip who then didn't come. Because it was non refundable and I was already charged, we had no choice but to suck it up and stay. The night employee, Megan, was the only decent thing about this hotel. She was polite and friendly and assisted us with checking in. When we got up to our room, the door was propped open. We went into the room only to discover it was DISGUSTING. The tables weren't wiped down, there was mold on the AC unit, that didn't even work. Our room never dropped below 72. The shower was all rusty, the blankets were stained and there was hair in one of the beds that clearly wasn't from us. Being 2 hours from home, it was 930 at night, we didn't have a choice but suck it up and stay, I was already out $300. The following morning we went to speak with a manager and met the "assistant general manager" who was nothing but an absolute BITCH. I've never met someone with so much attitude and disrespect. She wouldn't listen to our complaints, despite having pictures for proof, only stated she could comp us $50. She accused us of asking for a free night when that's not even what we asked for. We weren't asking for a free night, but more than just $50. She refused to provide us with the manager of the hotel's information. Only stated the manager was in Florida with a family funeral. She wouldn't answer any questions just stated that nothing was her fault. I told her that the room conditions certainly weren't our fault and that is on the hotel. She rolled her eyes. Would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone. I've already filed a complaint with corporate, who provided me with the email for the manager and I will be following up with them as well.

The breakfast had a nice variety of selections and the guy working at breakfast was very friendly. However, the whole hotel (room, common areas, pool) seemed a little worn out and almost dingy. They seem to have a very long renovation process going. Also, all of the online resources and communications indicate that check-in is at 3:00, but the hotel states it is at 4:00, which I was very curtly informed of when I called to check in on our room around 2:45. You'd think that this would be an easy thing to fix. Overall, our stay was fine for one night, but for the price we paid, I would expect a little more and will likely look around at other options if we return to the area.

When we noticed an opening, we asked nearby drivers if we could squeeze in, and they had no issue with it. We apologized and explained that we were not from the area and had not seen any signs. We were told that the rule was "well known to locals" and that a sign existed at the front of the line--more than 25 cars ahead, making it impossible for us to see. Despite the surrounding drivers having no objection, the employee demanded we leave and became increasingly hostile when we asked questions or requested a manager. At that point, the interaction escalated unnecessarily, and we decided it wasn't worth the confrontation and left. I've never experienced such a level of rudeness from a staff member over an honest misunderstanding. Clear signage and more professional communication would have avoided the entire situation. Someone even yelled out "stop being a parking nazi". I would have otherwise liked to review the venue itself, but we were unable to do so as we never made it inside.
