Wow !! Wow wow , this is well worth the 65 dollars to drive up. You have to do this. I'm going to let the pictures speak for themselves but I felt so free and alive ! If you're here , do this. You will not be disappointed

Earth Day continues suckas! Listen this is a once in a lifetime thing. Not because you'll never make it to NH again, but because it's scary, your partner who insists on backseat driving will drive you crazy, and it's scary. Oh did I say that already? Oh well. When we did this the price started with a 3. I see now the price starts with a 4. Harumph! They give you a guided audio tour when you're driving up but it was lowkey nerve wracking to listen to it and not fly off the mountain. Also I drive a manual so I really did feel at risk of falling off or sliding back down the mountain at any and all times. That said it's beautiful! Crossing into the alpine zone and watching the vegetation change is wild. The temps at the bottom versus the temps at the top - also wild. Watching hikers reach the summit - incredible! 360 degree views? Loved them! I'm determined to take the Cog up once and get up the mountain with my own two legs eventually. But if I never do either of those things, the drive was good enough!

George back up from hitting the van.

Visited 8/7 and parked my van at the top. George in van 15 with Mt Washington Auto Road tour rear ended my van while parked. He tried to drive away. First photo is him back up from hitting my van. But, somebody was in the van and came out. George Valliere in tour van 15 hit the rear of my van and there was damage to the rear. Talked Tim Godin and Tobey Reichert at the office at the bottom. They apologized for George hitting the rear of my van and would get it taken care of. They asked to provide them with an estimate and they would either pay out of pocket or file with their insurance. I did so when I got back and they decided to go through insurance. Filed with their insurance and they are now denying they hit my van. If you want to go with an unethical tour company that lies and cheats. This is the one. Think twice when you book with them. Your safety could be at risk with drivers that are negligent.

Fun Fact: this road was actually first opened to the public in 1861 (hard to believe but it's true) Fun Fact 2: It is also the site of the oldest auto race in the United States Mount Washington is the tallest peak east of the Mississippi and has been a popular tourist destination for people like us for more than a century. there are numerous ways to reach the top (unfortunately we did not get the ticket for the cog railway) but never mind, this is equally adventurous. drive up it on a fall-colorful day to see the fantastic colors of New Hampshire's White Mountains and the windy clouds blowing past you as you climb to more than 6,000 feet in the air. We had Jeep Compass (4WD) but I have seen cars like Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic in the parking lot - so you are good. at someplace, There are no shoulders to use, though there are ample pull-off spots to allow slower drivers to allow others to pass. Auto Road is simply a spectacular place to view fall foliage in New Hampshire due to the fact that you start in the valley and then can look down and see it from above. IMP..!! IMP.. !! IMP..!! As you come down the mountain, make sure to pay attention to the signs about putting the car into low gear and pulling off periodically to cool the brakes. though our rental car was new, the brake was smelling so we had to stop periodically. it is truly one of the most amazing drives in the country. The road is only 7.6 miles, but you can expect it to take anywhere from 30 -45 minutes to ascend Fee: Car+driver- $ 45 (Oct-2022) Extra person: $20 PP children- $9 PP

Vacationing from Newport RI. Our guides were Lee and Jeff !! Amazing team . Great history lesson . So friendly .I hope they see this ! I think my grandson Joseph made an impression as well ! I'm sure Jeff and Lee will always remember our family due to Joseph's presidential knowledge at 8! What a fun day . MT Washington did not disappoint . Thank you so much. The Deasley Almeida family

If you get a chance to do mount Washington and are unsure if you want to drive? DO THE 2 HOUR GUIDED TOUR! I learned so much about the history of the mountain and surrounding mountains. Honestly so worth the money our tour guide Bill was awesome so informational. Got to spend an hour at the summit. It hands down best part of my trip. 2 hour guided tour.. DO IT!

If there is one thing I've done many times from childhood on up at least a dozen times and once recently is this. I have driven here on a day in July with it 85 degrees at the bottom and 34 at the top with snow at the peak. It is that crazy. Record of 231 mph wind recorded on this peak. The drive up is a piece of cake but the drive down your brakes heat up and you need to stop a number of times to let them cool. I would not drive an older car up here. Newer cars only with new brakes to be safe because there are no guardrails. You go over and your done.

"You can plan a pretty picnic but you can't predict the weather" - summed up this trip to this spot. Of all the days for it to be rainy, foggy, and cloudy - it had to be this one. It was supposed to be somewhat of a surprise but ended up being a wash overall. I will say - I would highly recommend this on a sunny day, and the staff does a great job letting you know upon pulling up whether it is foggy or the sightlines. I was hoping we would get lucky - we didn't. I was nerve racking and I couldn't wait to come back down - at some points it was really scary but hey - you have to live sooner or later. We made it to the top and couldn't really see much - but I really enjyed being able to say we got 6200 ft up and did it. ************PUT YOUR CAR IN LOW GEAR ON THE WAY DOWN********* Some moron behind me came barreling down - I got out of the way, started smelling brakes, and then coming upon the moron outside his car with smoke pouring from the front of his car.

We got there 10minutes early and were informed some guidelines to follow. Got myself a hat since I forgot to bring one was pretty cold. Since it was during offseason we were only ones there. We were escorted to the gear house and equipped with helmet, safety harness and a latch. The staff gave us a ride to the zip line course and took a truck up the hill. They did tell us to make sure to keep helmet on and seatbelt because it was going to be rough ride up due to it being mud season. It sure was a rough ride up and probably was in the air quite a few times during the ride. I looked at one of the staff and used my foot to secure myself like he was doing to keep myself stable which helped. It was definitely the toughest part of the experience. Once we got to the zip line area we were given a brief instructions for safety and we buckled up and started our zip line session. In the beginning it was a bit intimidating but the staffs were all very nice and made us feel safe during the experience. Once we got going it was very enjoyable and thrilling. It was cold but we were mostly prepared and dressed warm and the hat I purchased helped. The views were also beautiful. At the end we got to go in a treehouse and take some picture at the end. After we finished we were escorted back to the truck and took the van to the main facility which was a mild ride compared to on the way. We dropped off our equipments and left the facility. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and had a great time. Everyone was nice and accommodating made us feel safe. It was also nice that we were only ones there because we got a private session and full attention during the experience. Definitely would recommend for those that enjoy or beginner who would like to try zip lining. My partner who can be la little anxious about these experience enjoyed it and was perfectly fine throughout the experience. The experience was a bit on pricier side but I think it was worth it.

The car ride is very bumpy, and it for the faint of heart. If you have back problems, this is not the car ride for you~ apparently during the summer, guests have to hike up rather than use the trucks which seems like a moderate level walk in my opinion. We were the only guest since it was spring off season~ plenty of mud but it was great! We prepped with our hiking boots, layers, and hats are a must. Gloves helped our hands stay warm. The staff seem close and look like they enjoy what they do~ really great experience filled with views and good happy adrenaline screams!

My husband found it while looking for something unique to do, and what I expected to be a fun winter activity turned into an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we could tell this wasn't just a business -- it's a passion. We loved interacting with both the puppies and the seasoned sled dogs who quite literally do much of the heavy lifting. During our sled ride through the White Mountains forest, we enjoyed the sights and learning. The dogs are treated like family, and are happy, affectionate, and genuinely excited to run. One of the most meaningful parts was talking with the mushers and learning how they came to Muddy Paw and how the dogs begin training. We also learned that when the dogs retire around 8-10 years old, many are adopted by families who've taken the tour. I'd be lying if I said my husband, kids, and I don't already have a list of dogs we hope to adopt someday -- we've even reached out to express interest! This is more than an excursion -- it's an experience filled with heart, care, and joy. I can't recommend it enough.

I would definitely come back simply to spend more time with the dogs! It was a cool experience and even better that we got to have some snow on the ground while doing so.

It's such a fun activity to do if you have kids, love history, and/or love trains. The employees were friendly, the seats were comfy, and the views were amazing. We went in May so the train was pretty empty; they gave us the option of riding in first class, free of charge. Score! They also told us stories and facts through the intercom. I highly recommend a visit!

I was very disappointed with my experience on the mountaineer train 4 hour ride a few months ago…read more We spent $159 just for two people on the most basic "coach" level seats! It was extremely overpriced and they charge an extra $4.50 per person in fees when booking online. Their lunches are $20 for a sandwich and snacks + drinks are ridiculously expensive. Now as for the ride, it was definitely too long. The first 1.5 hours is literally looking at nothing but the backyards of people's homes and the forest of trees. They have a narrator during the first half of the trip, but you could barely hear him at all. There's no cell service or Wi-Fi so you're really stuck to staring out the window. The train does get some nice mountain views for about an hour, stop at a tourist gift shop for 30 minutes, and come back the exact same way. The coach seats were ok and we got lucky it was a cool day with a nice breeze coming through the open windows. There is no AC in the coach seats, but it's available in first class and dome seats (however it does smell very musty/damp and would've made me cough the whole ride). The coach seats face each other, so leg room is literally impossible for 4 adults. We took up all the leg room with just 2 people. Overall, myself along with many other people on the train were not thrilled with the price we paid and what we got in return.

When we noticed an opening, we asked nearby drivers if we could squeeze in, and they had no issue with it. As we were parking, an employee approached us in a very aggressive and unprofessional manner and told us we could not park there. We apologized and explained that we were not from the area and had not seen any signs. We were told that the rule was "well known to locals" and that a sign existed at the front of the line--more than 25 cars ahead, making it impossible for us to see. Despite the surrounding drivers having no objection, the employee demanded we leave and became increasingly hostile when we asked questions or requested a manager. At that point, the interaction escalated unnecessarily, and we decided it wasn't worth the confrontation and left. I've never experienced such a level of rudeness from a staff member over an honest misunderstanding. Clear signage and more professional communication would have avoided the entire situation. Someone even yelled out "stop being a parking nazi". I would have otherwise liked to review the venue itself, but we were unable to do so as we never made it inside.

I had heard there were gorges & caves to explore different from other trails nearby along with beautiful pines and waterfalls. It exceeded all my expectations! It says this is a 1 mile loop hike but be prepared- I walk a 5k daily & this trail kicked my butt in a good way. It was moderately challenging- I went in the rain so it was a bit cooler too. The best advice I could offer is to take a backpack with snacks, another jacket just in case (although i layered up), pack rain pants to help keep me warm in the rain, and shoes with good traction. And plenty of water. Beanies may also be a good option to keep your head warm from the cold. And a portable battery. Also, if you haven't traveled with a car like me..then the Shuttle Connection is a life saver to travel in town. Way cheaper than Uber and fairly quick to transport you wherever you want to go. Also for travelers go back and forth to other states travel by bus is the perfect and most affordable way to travel. This trail offered amazing views, great photo ops, and plenty of additional trails to explore. They also make sure to keep everything maintained and safe for hikers exploring. Everything is well labeled and easy to follow. They do say and I can attest- travelers who have difficulty walking or have walkers etc..this may not be an ideal trail. Also, for younger children this may not be an kdela hike because of how extensive the elevation is. You are climbing a mountain and waterfall elevation. The boardwalk is not only a great help to get through the gorge, its craftsmanship is amazing. The hand railings are rounded and smooth, and we were even able to chat with one of the carpenters on our visit as he installed a new section of boardwalk. The caves themselves are not really caves in the traditional sense, rather the negative space between boulders and the earth & other boulders. That didn't detract from their awesomeness as it's amazing to think that these giant boulders were moved by ice. We spent about 2 hours going through the caves and doing the extra loop through the suspension bridge. My boys tried a few caves more than once and even made it through the Lemon Squeeze! The main building looks newer, is very clean and comfortable. There isn't somewhere to sit in the shade, but we weren't there long enough to really miss that's however, if you brought a lunch or had someone in your party who needed to wait this one out, there are some picnic tables surrounding the main building.
