I had such great memories camping here as a kid, and it was so nice to relive them as an adult. It was just how I remember it, too. Very friendly staff, comfortable and clean sites and restrooms, and lots of things to do! The app that replaced paper schedules is easy to use and has all sorts of information on it that's helpful. There are so many activities. We didn't participate in very many but we did do the hayless hayride and tie-dye T-shirt making, and I made a beautiful spiral shirt with the help of Connor! During our week, the Grateful Campout event with Grateful Dead tribute bands was happening, and though we didn't purchase tickets we heard the music and it was awesome! The campground was nearly full, but was still very comfortable and relaxing. Camp store has everything you need during your vacation. I went in each morning to buy muffins, one of my favorite parts of camping here. They also sell homemade bread, whoopie pies and brownies (which I also snacked on), cookies, and creme horns, all homemade. Delicious! We also had a large pizza and mocktails from the Chub Pub Restaurant, and they were so good! We cooked the leftover pizza over the fire and enjoyed it all. The newly rebuilt Snack Shack serves breakfast, lunch, snacks, ice cream, and provides a huge interior picnic/activity area if the weather isn't great Staff are very friendly and willing to help, and they greet you like family. Amenities are plentiful as well. Restrooms throughout the campground, and two with full rows of showers. My only little nitpicks are that Restroom 2 was removed by the beach, and replaced with a few tiny private toilets and two small showers, which feel more temporary than permanent, and Restroom 1 also no longer has showers, meaning that side of the campground is nearest to Restroom 6, which is far from Otter Road and the outer areas. The shower heads in Restroom 4 take some getting used to, as they are just pipes that spray a stream of water, and may be better if they were replaced. We've already planned our next year's trip to AOW for two weeks, whereas this year we only did one week, which was not enough! Love it here.

(Quiet hours and driving cart hours are clearly just a suggestion disappointed that security doesn't circle the campground at night and Enforce.) Won't be back unfortunately. Went here as a kid and loved it. Sad to see it go so downhill. We were here for the first weekend in August, no special events going on this weekend.

We kayaked, rented a pontoon boat from the campground for an afternoon (very reasonably priced) saw loon & a bald eagle. The campsite was a bit small (Site 113. 30ft trailer 1 slide) but we don't spend much time at the site so that was fine & not a prerequisite for us. Most sites were decent size. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The snack shack( great fried dough), beach house, camp store were all very updated. Very nice horse shoe pits, bocce, playground & field if you have kids. The tent sites on the water were gorgeous with their platforms. A lot of seasonal campers who seem very friendly. Lots of golf carts around but relatively quiet. Lots to do in surrounding area as well. Only downs I saw was the bathroom near us was bit outdated but not unclean, (we use the RV anyways) and the WiFi was spotty and slow. But you're on vacation right? Already looked into booking for next year for a longer stay. Definitely recommend.

The bed is comfortable and the shower is better than expected. Great water pressure and lots of hot water. There are no TV's, but who needs one here. The resort has a great game room housing both a pool table and ping pong table. It's the perfect place to bring your family. Donna, the innkeeper, understands how to manage this expansive property. It has a wonderful cooked to order breakfast and Friday night Lobster Dinner. Dan, the owner is very hands on working the property from dawn to dusk. We can't wait to come back!

Dan and Roseana, and really the whole staff, were so welcoming, warm, and accommodating to our every need. No request went unanswered. If you go you must stay for the weekend, or at least until Friday if you're staying during the week. Their lobster bake by the water is so enjoyable; it's a true Maine experience. In fact, it's more than that. It's a Tarry A While experience. You can't get that kind of community with delicious food anywhere else in Maine. Way strict on check in time. Even though they let us check in early eventually, we had to hear…read moreseveral times how that really put them out, not sure why. Our site was about a 20x20ft patch of sand that was ready for us to park but for Some reason we needed schooled on check in times. Be ready to show ID, dog vaccinations, sign paperwork, and be read a list of rules. Then sacrifice your first born (kidding, but seriously the strictest campground ever) The campground is packed tight and a lot of sites without shade. Lots of seasonal live in trailers/campers with tons of junk laying around. I feel like for $80/night you might get more than a tiny patch of dusty ground. Anyway.. probably wouldn't go again but it was the closest to Portland with availability. There are about 200+ signs posted around the camp with rules, it's so excessive. Oh yeah, this is not their fault but it's in the direct line of the airports takeoff runway so hundreds of loud very low planes all day and night. "Sign, sign Everywhere a sign Blockin' out the scenery Breakin' my mind Do this, don't do that Can't you read the sign?"
