If I could put a negative star.. I brought my mother's Emerald ring that was given to me upon her death to Northeastern on Union St. Purchased a new setting for it as hers was 50 years. I was originally very pleased with it/ wore it for 2 1/2 years and looked down and a prong had snapped/ devistated I immediately went to the store and was quoted $250.00+ for a repair to the prong? I felt I really had no choice but was rather disgusted that it had not held up better? I then received a call from the manager Lori, stating that all 4 prongs would have to be completely replaced? I was dumbfounded and said that it was ridiculous that after only a short period of owning this brand new setting that this could be possible. She said she wanted to ask the jeweler on hand more about it. after a day or so I got another call from Lori stating that there had been a mistake and that it was someone else's ring that was almost exactly like mine? with a similar name as mine and she was sorry and the 1 prong was going to be fixed. I then waited ( roughly 10+days) and was then notified it was ready/ I went to retrieve it and she attempted to offer me a gift card for my inconvenience?/ I said no and she then went into the back brought my ring out and said because I was so upset that there was no charge. I said I truly appreciated that and left. not even 3 months later I looked do at my finger and the prong was gone again... I immediately returned to the store and was extremely upset/ They then brought out another gentleman who identified himself as the buyer/ I don't recall his name. He assured me that he was going to be handling this himself and was going to contact the manufacturer of the setting I purchased originally and have them handle this because of the obvious poor workmanship! I was very apprehensive of leaving this beautiful ring that was what my Mother left me upon her death with them again/ He assured me it would only be about 10 days and that he would keep me notified personally with updates. I waited 3 weeks and finally called/ He was sick? I wanted a date of when the ring would be returned to me I was told it was shipping on 6-16-25 and it would be a couple of days ? so on 6-19-25 I called and was transferred to Lori again/ I asked her where it was? she said " oh it's do here any day and we haven't gotten our shipment today. I still have heard nothing about the status of my mothers ring. I would and will never recommend anyone use this Jeweler / the customer service is atrocious and obviously my ring is lost? and or not repaired.... I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and the nys attorney general's office about this situation. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere!!! the stress and heartache this experience has done to my nerves is not fixable. Disgusted doesn't even cover it. Laura Payne. read more

I brought a pearl to the store to ask if a match could be made. The incredibly rude lady at the counter told me I had to take it back to the jeweler that made it. When I explained that the jeweler was long since closed, she said, " we wouldn't make something like that!" in a very dismissive tone. She never offered to show me anything in the case. I went Mayfair Jewelers, they were welcoming, understanding and professional. If you need jewelry, skip the rude folks at Northeast and go straight to Mayfair!!! read more

Wow, were they ever helpful! Not only did they help me find a baptism gift for my great niece, they wrapped it for me and assured me if she got anything else like it they would take it back and order something else for her. They were so friendly and spoke to me the minute I walked in the door. I like that kind of service. She even told me where to go close by to get a card since she knew I was pressed for time. Called up asking about a minor repair to my Breitling, the clasp on the band, and was not happy with how I was treated.

I shopped at this store, and did not purchase anything. The sales staff kept asking me if I wanted help, and I said I would just like to browse if that was ok. The salesman sort of trailed me around, which didn't sit well with me. The pieces were attractive but seemed a little overpriced to me. I don't know anything about the owner or anyone else at the store except that one salesman, but the whole experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. (Note: also I am dismayed by the personal attacks on other Yelpers in the Talk threads by some people claiming to be "customers" of the store and one admitting to be a (former) employee, who come on Yelp and only review that one store, and attack people on the talk threads who apparently had a bad experience at the store, and call them names - This doesn't make me want to frequent a store where those people shop.... if they are really customers and not accounts created for the purpose of boosting the ratings.) read more

My one experience at Northeastern Fine Jewelry was very brief, so my review is based solely on this visit. I had won a necklace and was stopping in to pick it up. A salesperson, Joseph, was quick to help me, and while I waited for a manager to bring the necklace out, I asked about wedding bands. The salesman took me over to the wedding bands and asked to see my engagement ring. After examining it for a minute, he recommended a few styles which would look best with my ring, and had me try some on. I asked about a particular kind of men's rings and he pointed me in the direction of said rings and also made note of the pros and cons of that particular kind. I am fairly certain he knew that I would not be purchasing anything that day as I had mentioned that my wedding is a ways away (over a year), but he was 100% helpful and committed to helping me find the perfect band. A manager came out with my necklace, and after a few more minutes of chit cat with Joseph, I left the store with his business card with the intent of going back when it's time to actually purchase our bands. Fast forward a couple of hours. I was at dinner with my family and was showing them my necklace when someone pointed out that the strand between two of the pearls was down to a single strand, ready to break. I planned to call the store the next day, although I was unsure of how / when I would drop it off or retrieve it seeing as how I don't live in or near Schenectady. Someone offered to take it there on my behalf because of her proximity to the store, though I was unsure if NEFJ would be okay with this. I called the next day and spoke to Jamie. She was very helpful and apologetic about the situation - not a big deal and seeing as how it was a free necklace, I wasn't too torn up about it, but I did appreciate her sincerity. And they said it was fine if someone else returns with it. I'm looking forward to not only receiving and wearing my necklace, but purchasing our wedding bands from Northeastern Fine Jewelry. read more

I had a short and sweet experience. I knew exactly what I wanted, and was quickly given my item and left. I was kind of excited that I got such nice customer service considering I just came from zoom flume and looked pretty trashy to be in a fine jewelry store, but apparently as noted by other comments they REALLY like to help you. Anyway, they were friendly, they weren't overly pushy. Everything was pretty, but ultimately, more than I wanted to spend . I didn't have the experience of being followed, actually, when my husband and I went in, apparently we didn't look important enough to be considered valuable customers, because the salesperson ignored us completely. A few months ago I began planning to propose to my girlfriend. After going to a few different jewelers I made my way to Northeastern Fine Jewelry. Right off the bat my experience with Northeastern was very different than any other jeweler. I went to Northeastern around Christmas and they were very busy. Even with how busy they were, when I said that I was looking for an engagement ring I was taken aside and had a private consultation with one of their sales managers, Brittany. We first spoke in great depth about what I was looking for and talked about my girlfriend and her taste in jewelry. After talking, I was then presented with many different options from numerous designers. I wasn't only shown an array of rings, rather, each ring was explained to me, the diamonds cut, clarity, carat and color (All of which needed to be explained) and the settings style, design and the manufacturers reputation and quality of product. This process took a long time, as it should, however at no point did I ever feel rushed or pressured into making any decision. Throughout the consultation a number of different sales associates came by and were used as hand models to see what each ring would look like when worn. When they would try the ring on they would give their opinions and thoughts on the different rings and the specific designer. Also, the owner came by and we spoke about how long me and my girlfriend had been together, where we had met and where we were from. All of their employees and the owner were courteous, helpful and very easy to talk to. After two such visits, both with equally phenomenal customer service, I finally chose a ring setting. (My situation was unique in that I had the diamond already, it had been passed down from my great grandmother and I was going to use it in the ring. As such, the setting had to be ordered and the diamond fitted into the setting). The sales manager who I had been working with all along ordered the setting as I was at the store and a time frame was given to me as far as when it would come in. However at this point they didn't just take my card and swipe it and send me on my way, rather they talked me through the financing process and put me in contact with the credit institution. Further, they arranged for me to meet with an gem appraiser to look at the ring and assess its value for insurance purposes. While the ring setting was on order, I had the diamond assessed and then Northeastern was kind enough to put the diamond in their vault so I did not have to worry about losing it or damaging it. Right in line with the time frame I was given, the ring came in and I was immediately contacted to come pick it up. I went to their shop and all I had to do was sign and the ring was ready to go. Overall, my experience with Northeastern Fine Jewelry was exceptional. The customer service from all of their employees and genuine care they all put into each customer made my experience purchasing the engagement ring most enjoyable. 10/10 5 Stars P.S.: She said yes! read more

Everything went smoothly, with great communication throughout the process detailing when things would be available to view as well as solid timelines to make sure I would have the ring at the right time. I shopped several stores and online retailers for a diamond engagement ring and bought one at Northeastern because I found their prices competitive and their staff cooperative. Upon picking out and buying a ring, we later found that the inclusion in the diamond became much more noticeable than it was at the time in the store. When I returned to the store to discuss the options, the staff was receptive to my concerns and offered to search for a comparable alternative diamond. Ultimately, they offered to re-set another diamond that was more to our liking at no additional charge. I found the prices competitive and the staff patient, cooperative, and serious about maintaining a good customer relationship, even when the transaction did not go as originally planned. Have used them to purchase a Panerai for myself and several pieces of jewelry for my girlfriend. Also, have referred multiple friends to them who have all had extremely positive experiences as well. Their prices are competitive if not better than anyone else in the area, and while you might be able to find a slightly cheaper price for a watch online -- well, you're going to get a piece with the serial number scratched out (read: stolen, likely in transit from europe) and nobody to call for customer service or to get it looked at if it's running slow. Great customer service all around, could not recommend them more highly. read more

Have an old watch that needs repair and don't know where to take it, well this is the place. My dad's gold watch, which he received in 1967 had not worked in ages. A friend suggested Northeast Jewelers and I couldn't be happier. The watch was cleaned and repaired in a timely fashion. Nick Michetti, one of their watchmakers did a fabulous job. I am from the Capital district but now live in CA. I couldn't find anyone I trusted to do the work so on my trip to Schenectady I brought my watch and went to Northeast. They kept me apprised of the work being done, and when finished shipped it to me. They called to let me know it was on the way and also to make sure it got here. I have purchased jewelry here and have had other items repaired. I have nothing but good words for this business. So remember if you have an old watch needing repair this is the place. read more

I recently brought in a ring that was handed down to me from my dad. As it was "manly" I knew that I wanted to make it into something else but wasn't sure what would work. Deborah was fabulous! She gave me a few ideas and when we settled on a ring she talked to the jeweler about what would be best. After that we looked at two different options, and I decided on one. I was even able to see a graphic of what the custom piece would look like before they went ahead with the design. The best part, is I was able to sell some old gold I had and put the money towards the ring. When I picked it up I couldn't have been more happy, I was shocked and it was more beautiful than I ever expected. There is not another jewelry store you'd ever find me in. Decided to head to another place and there I was offered 20% more and cautioned not to sell as the item would cost me 4x to replace it. Friday Nov.30,2012 My son and I went to the Union Street Store this morning because they advertise that they buy gold and diamonds. The advertisement DOES NOT tell you that they only buy diamonds that are one carat or larger and ONLY the round or princess cut. The sales people treated us like we where a couple of vagrants and sent us on our way.I'am a 58 year old disabled woman who worked hard all my life and felt that I was treated badly.
