I had an okay eye exam at North Park, and I was satisfied with that part, and with the glasses I got. However, they wasted two hours of my time, I guess so that they could get me in front of a doctor to tell me I had a problem with dry eyes and then do a test with which they tried to give me a chiropractor-style sales pitch to say that I needed a care plan for some sort of chronic dry eye problem. Like they said the veins in my eyelid weren't long enough. Yeah, right. No thanks. As if that wasn't enough, they asked for my actual health insurance info, which I thought was weird. Then at the end, they said my insurance didn't cover the exam, so I paid the full amount, as adjusted by my *vision insurance*. Well, yesterday, 6 months after my appointment, I got a letter from my health insurance about benefits received that they aren't covering. Yeah, North Park billed my HEALTH INSURANCE, so now I'm going to have to pay them, probably. They double dipped. On top of that, I noticed they have posters all around their offices targeted at parents, where they're trying to exploit their worries about their childrens' performance in school and suggest that some kind of eye operations will solve their learning problems. Yeah, this place is running every kind of scam they can. Skip it. read more

I am a patient with the Veterans Administration. They were over 45 mins late with my appointment, the room was dirty, the staff untrained and unprofessional. They took my original glasses to read them, returned them to me with some kind of smudgy Vaseline on them. They quoted me $850 for a 2nd pair of glasses and did not give me my prescription when I asked for it. They said "The doctor has not approved it yet"... whatever that means. The told me I had Macular degeneration and Glaucoma. I went back into the VA and nothing was found. The prescription they gave me was wrong, but a big margin. The "optician" told me I had to wear them for awhile to get used to them. Two pair of glasses were sent back for being wrong. I had to go to 2 other eye doctors to get a good prescription and get tested for AMD and glaucoma. Other than all this, it's a great place! lol. The licensing board needs to shut these people down. read more

I don't believe I will be returning. I've been going here for over 15 years, but things have changed. First off in the past six or seven years I don't recall ever seeing a certified Doctor. They have all been students. I'm glad she takes these students on for their field placement, but it doesn't change the fact that I paid to see a doctor, my insurance was billed as seeing a doctor, but in actuality all the exams I received were from students. On my last visit a few days ago I saw Dr. Marcy for about 60 seconds after my exam. I think it's required that she takes a quick peek at your eyes before she signs off on the student's exam. My other issue is they push you to buy their glasses which are extremely expensive. I requested just the script so I can go to Target, but the front desk girl was reluctant. She told me "You will get you pay for there". I'm 60 years old. I do not need designer frames; I just want to see. I don't believe asking for my script should be questioned. I even had to ask them to remove the glasses billing portion from my insurance so I could go somewhere else. I am questioning their business practices as something seems fishy about Noth Park Vision Center. read more

I had my examination today at North Park Vision Center. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. They take the CDC guidelines for Covid very seriously, I felt very comfortable the entire time. They all wore masks and sanitized everything before and after use. Dr. Rose was very professional and answered all my questions and concerns. She even made some great recommendations for new glasses, sizes and, told me about all the other great options I need to take advantage of I.E. blue light reflective, glare reduction. Etc. read more

This place is the worst, they will try to scam you by frightening people into buying their expensive eye supplements that only "they sell", literally told me I was going to go blind if I didn't spend hundreds on their "snake oil" supplements. They apparently have no office manager so the front desk has zero clue whats going on when you call. Had my appointment months ago but no-one will follow up or return calls, the front desk is dismissive of you, probably because you've already paid. This group does not seem able or understand how to order computer glasses. I have given them three opportunities to get my new computer-specific glasses correct, they failed each time. I requested a refund after the third pair of glasses failed to support my vision and was told NO refund but they'll try again. I have zero confidence that they will be able to make thing right the fourth time. read more

They are horrible!! First, the people at the front have no idea what they are doing. In addition to many other things, they gave me the wrong prescription. Then, I got Sclera lenses which didn't work. I paid $700 for each contact, so $1400 total. They told me that I would get a refund for them because I returned them. They are now lying about it and only giving me half of my money back and trying to scam us for the other $700. Do NOT go here unless you want them to take your money. When my daughter first arrived at North Park Vision, she couldn't trace letters like a normal child would do, we had to hold her back at Pre-K because she wouldn't recognize letters or numbers. She was not able to catch a ball or walk without being on her tip toes. She had depth and spacial perception problems and cognitive learning issues. It has been a long way for our little girl but with the help of Dr. Rose and her team she finally graduated and she can read, write and do problem solving without getting overly frustrated. My daughter finally enjoys school, reading and writing! I would highly recommend vision therapy with North Park Vision! read more

HORRIBLE place! I went there to get scleral contacts because "my insurance will cover them" base on what they initially told me. All my visits I had medical students (instead of the actual doctor) look at my vision. At the end, my contacts came in and I was amazed of how off my prescription was. After that day, I tried reaching to the doctor multiple times, never called me back. I had to drive into the office to talk to them about a refund for all my waisted time and their unprofessional service that lead me to: NO insurance coverage and worthless contacts that cost $700. I literally gave them back to them and in return, I was charge me $400 (a "discount " for what?!). I never write reviews but this place however is the worst experience I've had so far in the professional industry. I wish I could give them a zero. read more

I hadn't been to an eye doctor since I was last on my dad's insurance, and that was ages ago. My vision has been 20/20 for my whole adult life, though it was starting to get a little fuzzy at times so it was time to have it checked. The North Park Vision Center is very close to my house so that's what I picked. My dermatologist and orthodonist were both in the same building, which is handy. I saw Christine Best and she was very nice as she explained everything to me. I had loads of questions! I left there a lot smarter than I was when I came in. Everything was very easy. Everyone who works at the office is so friendly and happy. It's a great experience just going in there. They even have a shop next to the office where they have lots of eyeglasses and a few sunglasses on display. The glasses are pretty high end, especially compared to places like Lens Crafters. I found a cool pair of Gucci reading glasses and I was on my way. I really recommend this place. read more

So disappointed with my visit that I got up and left before the exam was even finished. The owner reached out, but I told her that the confidence wasn't there to come back. The front office told me they had an Optomap machine and even relayed the copay, but they don't have the device. A "student doctor" did the exam and he wasn't ready for prime time. After an hour it wasn't worth staying to see if things improved. My advice: don't go here. read more

My daughter recently graduated from vision therapy at North Park Vision Center. I was initially hesitant about the therapy, but after the first month I was convinced that she was making progress because her reading scores were going up at school and significantly reducing her level of frustration. After 8 months of therapy, her reading level increased by almost 2 grade levels, going from below to above grade level. read more

Annual eye exam. I do wear contacts. The Dr was training a couple of girls, which was absolutely fine. It also meant the exam was very long. But that being said, that was fine. The staff is incredible. Girls at the front desk were super sweet. I'd had my eyes dilated, and couldn't write s check, and they were so nice. Not sure I have the correct contact lenses yet. They said I have an astigmatism, so they fit me with contact lenses for this. The first one wasn't correct, so they put me in another one. The one eye, with the astigmatism still doesn't feel right, and they are so accommodating. Going back in Monday, to try different lenses. With the exception of the appointment bring long, the experience was good. read more

I've been going here for ages but my recent experience today was quite frankly worrying. I was seen to by an intern who had one of those mesh masks on--not effective at all for covid, and her mask wasn't even covering her nose. I felt incredibly unsafe and uncomfortable and I no longer trust them If they think a mesh mask is adequate protection for someone whose face is a mere six inches away from yours for minutes at a time. Additionally, I decided to simply purchase the same frames but with different lenses as the last time I'd purchased glasses there. The lady who rang me up did not take any of my measurements to see if anything changed, nor did she express whether the other modifications I usually get with my glasses (progressive lenses, transition lenses, blue light defense) were still going to be included in my purchase. This experience has damaged my trust with them immensely. read more

Every time I schedule an appointment with this office I come in for my appointment only to be told the appointment was never scheduled. The people are kind but I cannot continue booking appointments and taking time off of work only to be told I don't have an appointment. This is the only place that has ever done this to me. I have never worked with a more incompetent medical office in my life, and I work in healthcare. First, Dr. Rose said our youngest daughter needed glasses and vision therapy. We started spending significant amounts of money with them until our daughter finally told us that the glasses hurt her eyes, and she could see fine without them. She stopped wearing the glasses, and has not had any vision issues for 3 years. We wasted time and money on a useless, shady diagnosis. Our other daughter has eye issues, and, since this office is one of only a few that offers any sort of vision therapy, we had to go there. We were repeatedly over charged and they repeatedly screwed up billing our insurance, to which their response is 'we will only bill insurance once, then it is your problem'. They ended up firing someone in their front office for embezzlement, so we hoped it would all end, but no, the incompetence continued. Over and over we have tried to give them a chance, but finally we have to leave. read more

I've never been so inconvenienced with a vision center in my life. I've been wearing contacts and glasses for over 20 years and this was my first experience where I felt pressured to have my pupils dilated. I was told it was mandatory for all new patients which is b.s. I could barely drive home and had to reschedule all my afternoon appointments. To add I was also required to come back the following week for a contact fitting before they'd release my contact prescription. I've been wearing the same contacts for 10 years why the unnecessary return? My eye exam was $275.00 which is ridiculously for an eye exam! This place will add extra work, for a simple eye exam, to make an extra buck. read more

The doctor was friendly and welcoming, as were many of the staff members. However, the front desk vision workers either were grossly incompetent or extremely deceitful in helping me understand my insurance benefits. They told me my insurance didn't cover my contact exam, made me pay up front and told me I couldn't use the max of my insurance benefits unless I bought contacts from THEM on the SAME day as my appointment. All of this was confirmed to untrue when I made a call to my insurance carrier the next day. In fact, in addition to charging me for my contact exam, they also were trying to bill my carrier as if I hadn't paid for it. I won't be returning. read more

Dr Best is well, the best. She very nice and takes time to explain things to me. I wanted contacts, for the first time. she explained the good and bad with them. I decided to get them. i love them. Never had an eye exam before and I went in yesterday to get my first one. The nurse and doctor where super nice and understood I had no idea what was going on. My insurance covered the entire visit. Went to North Park with my wife for an eye exam and glasses for both of us. While making appointments, my wife tried to make our appointments separately due to our schedules. We were told by the receptionists that she would be making the appointments together. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a tech who took us both back to our exam room. Turns out the receptionist duplicated my file in the system, so it appeared as I had never been there. Once straightened out, the doc came in to see us. The doc is great, she knows her stuff and gets our prescriptions right. Once we were finished, we got shuffled over to the frame area. If you are looking for something different things tend to be on the pricey side, even with insurance. The individual helping us seemed preoccupied, annoyed with our presence and acted like a used car salesman. She did not seem to understand our insurance benefit and misinformed us on our copay and coverage. Both my wife and I looked up our insurance to rebut this, but the sales person still debated with us. When it was all said and done we got this printout, itemizing our charges and what our charges would have been without insurance which did not make us feel warm and fuzzy. Moral of the story, know your benefits, bring a print out of you benefits, do not let the sales-person up-charge you for every lens add on in the book.
