Roadhouse Beef Signature Sandwicheez
June W.

Got 2 sandwiches here for lunch, for takeout. The Roadhouse sandwich has pastrami and roast beef. I had it warm, with a sourdough roll. The sandwich was well put together, not messy. The sourdough roll was incredible, with a nice crust on it. The Las Vegas Reuben was also well put together and tasty. We're not usually in this area, so not sure we'd be back soon. But not because of food quality! We also got fountain drinks. Since COVID time started, haven't gotten our own drinks, so, over a year. So weird to do so again! The owner (?) and staff were very pleasant. Nice place, and will be better when more people are downtown again, and can eat in.

This is a hidden gem for sandwiches in Lake Merritt area. It might be tricky to find the place since it's inside the building with US bank. They share the same store with Peets' coffee too so you can grab your coffee if needed. We had Buffalo Chicken, Las Vegas Reuben and Godfather in small size but let me tell you, the sandwich is huge and the price of it doesn't do the justice. I think a small size is already a big lunch for me. All of them were so good and you can choose to either have a picnic table outside in the park across the street or stay inside the store. Totally recommended if you're looking for a convenient yet great breakfast or lunch option.

Supposed to be a Bagel with cream cheese and veggies.

I thought I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and veggies. This is what I got. Perhaps I made a mistake in the details when I ordered (doubtful) but you would think someone would check to see if I meant to order a dry bagel with cucumber and tomato. I won't be back.

The full name for this small soup/sandwich/salad chain is North Beach Sandwicheez. There are 4 locations - 3 in Oakland (Downtown City Center, Kaiser Center and Jack London Square. There's a fourth location - San Ramon. This event was held at the Kaiser Center location. This Yelp Elite event ran from Monday, April 12 through Friday, April 16. My wife and I went at 1 PM on the second day of the week-long event. It was not crowded at all and service was super fast and the staff was really nice and patient with us newbies! Finding the place turned out to be fairly difficult. First, we didn't realize it was housed inside the Kaiser Center Building. We I used our GPS to get us to the street address but there were no signs or indications of the actual location. Therefore, I pulled into the multi-story Kaiser Center Garage, parked and proceeded to find the elevators to get us to the Main Lobby so that we could ask someone. We finally found it and it turned out to be just a short, 50-yard walk from the reception desk. The menu is fairly simple. They offer sandwiches, salads and Wraps. The sandwiches come in 3 categories and 3 sizes (Mini - Small - Regular) - Classic ($6.50/$7.25/$7.95); Signature ($7.95/$8.50/$9.50) and Hot, Oven Toasted Sandwicheez (small - $8.25/ regular - $9.15). "Classic" includes Turkey Breast, Roasted Chicken, Pacific Tuna, Pastrami, Roast Beef and Italian Ham. "Signature" includes Sinatra (ham, salami, Italia Mortadella, Provolone and cheese), Tuna Melt, Monterey Chicken, Roadhouse Beef, Turkey Bacon Club, Hoagie, North Beach Turkey and Godfather. "Hot Sandwicheez" include Turkey Pesto Melt, Chicken Florence, Buffalo Chicken, Super Avocado BLT, Hot Pastrami & Swill, Hot Roast Beef & Cheddar, Texas BBQ and Las Vegas Reuben. And, they do offer vegetarian sandwiches, as well. We brought them home - a 40 minute drive. Mine were still warm but I put them in our air fryer on high for a few minutes and they turned out great! I recommend doing that for any of the hot sandwich items. My wife got the "Sinatra" and I got two Sandwicheez items - a Hot Pastrami and a Las Vegas Reuben (I like Pastrami). My wife reports that she liked her Sinatra. I ate 1/2 of each of my two choices and I also enjoyed both of my sandwicheez items! The bread was very fresh with a nice tender interior and a nice crunchy exterior. Tip - instead of parking in the Kaiser Center, save yourself some money and park out on the street or have your spouse or friend go in to get them. If you do park in the high-rise parking structure, be sure to take note of the parking floor and section and take the ticket with you because you must pay for your parking before returning to you vehicle. And last but not least - THANK YOU SANDWICHEEZ, EMMA AND YELP! It was a fun experience and we enjoyed our interaction with the friendly and efficient staff! Fortunately, there is a store location (San Ramon) within a few miles of our house. There, I will try out other menu items in the near future! Jim

Very good place! Definitely a hidden gem across from Lake Merritt. The food is fresh, they prepare it fast, and the workers are very friendly! I always get the California Turkey Wrap but my coworkers have gotten their hot sandwiches and they love them. The picture does not do it justice.

WHEN: Thursday @ 11:40am I was in the area and decided to stop by to grab a quick lunch. I went to their yelp elite event recently and I remember their sandwiches are so fresh and delicious. WHAT I ORDERED Turkey pesto on white bread Buffalo chicken on sourdough Total : $19 Each sandwich costs around $9. The sandwiches are freshly prepared, the bags felt hot when we got it. It was a very quick service, I was in and out within 5min.

This is a great lunch spot. Quick and delicious! Love the variety of sizes and ability to customize. Clean and friendly staff. Definitely recommend!

I visited this spot one day during lunch around noon. It wasn't bustling, but a small line and a couple of people were waiting for their food. There was parking along Lake Meritt, which means you'll walk maybe 2-3 min which isn't bad. The nice thing is you can take your lunch to a bench or picnic super easily without worrying about your car or finding additional parking. The parking around the spot is 2 hours and there is a parking garage nearby as well. The sandwich shop is tucked into the corner of the building and very easy to miss. There is construction going on around the building, which makes it look like the place is not accessible, but it is. For example, there are signs on the outside lobby doors that say 'doors temporary out of order,' but they totally work. I built my own sandwich with provolone cheese, pesto, chicken, bacon, and salt-n-pepper. I got it on white bread. It was perfect. The ingredients tasted fresh, and they didn't skimp me on the chicken or bacon. The bacon was super crispy, just the way I like it. The white bread was hearty and thick. Next time I'll ask them to toast it because the bread was a bit overpowering. I also got a chocolate chip brownie, which was SUPER rich and yummy. It was moist and cake-y and not chewy. The flavor profiles were all there. I also got a fountain drink. There were assorted chips available as well. The menu is extensive and some of their sandwiches looked really good. They have both toasted and cold sandwiches. I liked my build-your-own. For a sandwich, drink, and brownie it was about $15 which isn't too bad. The sandwich could've been two meals honestly. I saw someone who ordered a salad and it's also quite large. They don't skimp you which is really nice. I look forward to coming back.

This is North Beach Cafe but not in San Francisco but in Oakland by Lake Merritt. The white mocha with almond milk was tasty. By no comparison to the fine coffees and expressos of the legendary North Beach.

Bagel with cream cheese, cucumber and tomato..... hmmmm you really have to slice the tomato that way???? Common sense please.
lai c.

I went to get a breakfast veggie bagel.... i cant believe that the person who made my bagel is the laziest ever.... lack of common sense. Who ever slices tomoatoes for a sandwich cutting them like in salads?????? Ruined my morning!!!!!

The bread was super fresh--soft on the inside with just the right amount of crunch on the outside. You can tell they don't cut corners with quality. Nothing was overpowering, and everything tasted clean and well-made. What really stood out to me was how fresh everything tasted. It didn't feel like a rushed sandwich--it felt like it was made with care. If you're looking for a solid Italian sub with fresh bread and high-quality meat, Brothers Deli is definitely the spot. I really shouldn't single them out because I've noticed that a lot of the east bay delis have the same type of bread, but I will say that it just wasn't my taste. The rolls (I got the Dutch Crunch, sourdough roll, and the soft roll) were not that great and --like I said-- maybe it's the same vendors everyone uses in the east bay. For the cost, I'm not too enthused to try the other options. Every time I passed by their spot, it's busy, so I figured I'd try it. It's just not for me, but people seem to like it. ‍

One of best sandwich shops in the Bay Area with a MUST-TRY roast lamb sandwich…read more Domenicos is an unsuspecting sandwich shop at the end of Webster. Honestly I would miss it otherwise. However, an acquaintance raved about it, so we had to try. Once inside, you sense the warm, family-run feel, and regulars and staff know each other. You also get the sense that people know where it's at when it comes to great sandwiches. The sandwiches are amazing. Ok, I'll be honest -- I went like three times in two weeos, but have only tried one sandwich. Because it's so dang amazing. The roast lamb sandwich. My girlfriend agrees, and that's also the only thing she gets. It's borderline life-changing. We like it with: dutch crunch, pepperjack, lettuce, tomato, red onion, mayo, and a bit of Dijon. I also tried their fantastic tiramisu, one of the best I've had. They carry delicious chips; I've enjoyed the pesto and truffle flavors. They also carry the delicious, local Alameda Soda Co sodas. Just an awesome way to enjoy delicious food and support local businesses. Other notes: For two people, a large should be fine! They wrap it as two sandwiches. Works perfectly for me and my gf, with chips and drinks. The have a dining area at both the front and back of the shop. Lines can form, but nothing extreme. Absolutely worth it. They take phone orders! I haven't tried yet. I don't mind waiting and it's nice to chat with the staff (if they're not too busy).

I ordered a tuna sandwich with everything on Dutch crunch bread, along with some Harvest Cheddar SunChips and a Strawberry Kiwi Snapple. Let me tell you--the sandwich was excellent. The tuna tasted fresh, the lettuce and tomatoes were crisp, and that Dutch crunch bread brought it all together. Every bite was on point. Easily one of the best deli sandwiches I've had, especially from an independently owned spot. The place itself has a great old-school vibe. Lots of photos on the walls and even some Raiders memorabilia, which gives it a real local feel. When I got there, there were a few people ahead of me, so I waited about 10-15 minutes, but it was worth it. You can tell they're making everything fresh. There were about 4-5 people working behind the counter, and even though they were busy, they were still friendly, engaging, and interacting with customers, which I liked. The lady at the register was also very nice and welcoming. They've got a wide variety of sandwiches to choose from. I've tried a few over the years, but next time I might go for something like the Chicago-style meatball sandwich. If you're in Alameda on Webster Street and want a fresh, high-quality sandwich, this is the spot. Perfect for grabbing something to go and heading over to the park or the beach on a nice day. Two thumbs up from me.

They have a modest but solid selection of Italian deli meats (Serrano ham, prosciutto, pancetta, etc), pasta, olive oil, vinegars, and a couple specialty jams (calabrian chile orange, etc) - basically all you'd need for a gourmet charcuterie board meal or snack. Last time I was here, picked ip a bottle of nicely aged balsamic vinegar from Italy, which has lasted me for a couple years. Today, decided to try one of their specialty Italian sandwiches with a shot of expresso on the side... and Mama Mia was the sandwich absolutely amazing! I highly recommend the Jamon Serrano & Manchego sandwich ($14.50). It comes with shaved ribbons of serrano ham, 1/5 inch thick slice of aged manchego cheese, a creamy spread of chevre goat cheese, chopped/marinated artichokes and arugula greens on a crusty/crunchy baguette (between half to a full foot long). I practically finished this within 10 minutes - it was so good! The expresso shot ($3.25) was also a good pairing for me. Loved the aroma, made from nicely dark roasted beans. Inside the venue there's shelves on the back wall, with Italian dry goods, oils, vinegars, jams, etc for sale. Seating indoors is about 5ish tables for 2 or more. Outside sidewalk has a couple tables too. Located on the corner of 9th & Washington St, mostly metered street parking in this area and a small hourly parking lot across the street.

Well this ended up being kind of a bummer today. Not a very attractive place, but we chose it…read moreknowing it was a diner, so expectations of decor were limited. The waitress looked comfortable wearing her pajamas and the cook in his shorts and t-shirt.... Odd, but whatever. Some standard tables and chairs and a cooler in the dining area for drinks. Handy, I suppose. Or, maybe that was the only outlet available? Who knows? Added character! Haha I'll share some positive notes: The French fries were great! Perfectly crisp outside and tender in! We ordered the pulled pork fries as an appetizer. It was okay. The pork tasted a little off, but not quite sure why. My daughter's cheeseburger was fine. My friends sandwich, BLT was also fine. Things went south from here. My sandwich was the brisket and the waitress said it was her favorite. Well... everybody has different tastes I guess because I felt like it was gross. The meat tasted old and it was absolutely the messiest sandwich in the Kingdom of Messy Sandwiches. I'm OK, in general, with messy sandwiches, but in this case it was extreme. I needed a bib and wet wipes in abundance. It came with a salad, which would have been great, except they absolutely DROWNED it in an apple cider vinegar dressing. The thing is, the dressing had a wonderful flavor, and it would have been quite lovely had it not been so cloying and gooped on so massively. It was literally inedible. So after three bites of the sandwich and one bite of the salad, I decided to send it back. The whole plate was just nasty. And this is where my rating went from a 3 or 4 stars to a two. First the waitress was extremely confused. Okaaay.... So she went to talk to the cook who then came out to argue with me. I was trying hard not to be rude. I just wanted to let them know that I didn't want the sandwich and they needed to take it back. I told him that I didn't like it. He proceeds to tell me that it is everyone's favorite, their most popular sandwich. That all of their sandwiches are messy. ( The BLT and the hamburger were not. They were normal) so I tell them that despite other people liking it apparently I did not. I explained how there was too much salad dressing and that the meat tasted old to me. They acted like they had no idea what to do with this feedback. I said please just take this plate away from our table. I was not paying the bill so I do not know for sure if they charged for it or not. But yuck. Who argues with a customer? Especially when it's about taste and perceived quality, as we all have different taste buds that's why there's a menu of different options available at restaurants! I worked in restaurants for many years of my life. I hate sending things back and I don't do it unless it is really bad or really not what I ordered. It's very uncomfortable to be confrontational at all with anyone at any time, but the reality is when we are paying for something we want it to be good and if it is not good we need to be able to speak up about it and hold them accountable to an inferior quality product. They made that very difficult.

My only question is....WHY haven't I been here sooner?! I…read morewas craving pastrami, so I looked on yelp for pastrami in the area. My mom and I came in around 2pm on Monday (8/11). It's a cute delicatessen/restaurant. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Immediately the staff was so friendly and welcoming. The woman at the register was very nice and asked if we had any questions. My mom and I shared a pastrami sandwich, Brussels sprouts, fries, and slaw. It was reasonably priced for the Bay Area. When they brought the food to the table I was shocked. Everything looked amazing and very appetizing, and the portions were much bigger than expected. Before she brought the sandwich over, she asked if we were sharing it and was so nice to split it into 2 plates for us. That was very kind for her to do. Let's start with the French fries. Omg they were perfectly crisp but still fluffy on the inside. They had so much flavor probably because of the beef tallow and had just the right amount of salt on them. There was a side of mayonnaise with the fries, and it tasted homemade. I meant to ask them if it was. It was very good lol I couldn't get enough. The poppyseed slaw was very refreshing and it was tangy and sweet. We loved that the cabbage remained crispy and it was great for a warm day. The fried Brussels sprouts were full of flavor. They were a nice balance of sweet and salty. I loved the bacon on them. The hot pastrami sandwich definitely satisfied my pastrami craving! There was just the right ratio of meat-cheese-sauerkraut-mustard-dressing. The bread tasted freshly baked as well. It was full of flavor. And the side salad that came with the sandwich was excellent. We loved the tanginess of the dressing. We were shocked that there wasn't more people inside, but also for 2pm on a Monday, it probably was just an off hour. We had so many leftovers as we both don't eat very much, but lol as soon as I got home I started eating some more of the slaw and salad. Can't wait to eat the rest for lunch tomorrow. We are already planning on coming back to try the meatballs next time and definitely trying their Indian cuisine! I'll have to bring my husband here next. Thank you guys for an amazing lunch!
