We enjoyed Norma's. This was our first time here and we came with another couple who are local to the area. It was a Wednesday evening at 6 PM. We got the last 4-top but other tables did turnover while we were there. Blanca was our server and she was very kind and took great care of us. We shared a bottle of wine and they brought out a complimentary bread basket. The bread was 'okay'. It was like a dry focaccia bread. I tasted rosemary in it. It was served with butter and there was oil, vinegar and grated Parmesan on the table. My wife and I shared the large wedge salad and beef ravioli with marinara sauce. The wedge was actually cut up romaine. Not a wedge but that was fine. It was dressed properly with dressing, red onion, tomato and bacon crumbles. The ravioli was the star of our meal. Ample serving size and tasty sauce. I really enjoyed the beef ravioli. I saw a nearby table with the chicken Parmesan and it looked fabulous. I'll try that on our next visit to the area. Prices were incredibly reasonable at low $20's for pasta and under $8 for house wine. No reservations are taken but we waited less than 5 minutes for a table on a weeknight. Service was friendly, helpful but seemingly a little short staffed. Ambiance is lively, though decoration is a little stark and lighting is bright. My wife and I went to Norma's with another couple for the first time over the past weekend. Opinion was divided about the quality of the meals. Our friends had the chicken Marsala and ravioli. They both enjoyed their meals and they were committed to at some time in the future. My wife had fettuccine Alfredo, her favorite, but she left half of in the bowl. I had the eggplant Parmesan. The serving size was massive. As I dug in the overall flavor was mush. The meal was tasteless. I added Parmesan in the hope of adding a little flavor, but that didn't happen. The restaurant has been extended from the old La Quintq Bakery, but the ambiance is stark and anything but cozy. Consequently the noise was pretty loud. After the entrees we looked over the desert menu. The list of three items was considerably different from the online menu. I was looking forward to a cannoli that was featured online. The waitress told us that the menus are shared and between the La Quinta and Rancho Mirage location and that they have cannolis at Rancho Mirage. That was no help. No deserts were ordered. So happy Norma's took over the space of the French sandwich place. The food is top notch. Fresh and delicious with a huge menu. House wines for under $8 a glass. My "small" Asian chicken salad was perfect for a full dinner. Eggplant parm with pasta and veggies was delicious! Service was delightful. They have only been open for just over a week and a half, so I am expecting that they will transition slowly from a French sandwich place to a classic Italian restaurant. The lighting was a little bright and harsh, but it was actually really nice because everyone chatted with each other from table to table. My recommendations would be to dim the lighting, and to save the pounding of the chicken breasts for a time when diners are not in the next room enjoying their meals, because it was about a half an hour of loud pounding that did get in the way of the ambience. We visited the La Quinta location on Saturday April 4, 2026, the Saturday before Easter Sunday. We ordered the Caesar salad, I had angel hair pasta with pesto sauce topped with prawns and salmon, my husband had the chicken Marsala. We did not order wine or dessert. Service 5 stars Food, 4 stars for the Marsala, flavor was excellent but pasta was overcooked 3.5 stars for the pesto pasta. I've had this dish in the past, and something was off this day. The first time I had their pesto, it was very flavorful and creamy really outstanding. It tasted freshly made and well prepared. On this day, the pesto was not creamy, tasted like a bottled pesto. It was not creamy at all and the flavor did not resemble a freshly made pesto. I was disappointed with the sauce. The prawns and salmon were cooked well. Normas was busy that evening and maybe the kitchen was lacking fresh ingredients but I've enjoyed other items on their menu in the past. They make a decent pizza, excellent crust and flavors. Outstanding meal at Norma's! The mushroom soup was absolutely delicious and then I enjoyed the cannelloni and my husband the spaghetti and meatballs. We noticed the substantial size of meals being served at other tables, so we will return for a full dinner sometime. Had high hopes for this place. Ordered bread calamari and a wedge salad and chicken marsala, but asked them to hold the main until we finished the salad. Well we waited and waited and finally they brought out the bread calamari and salad all at once. Bread was not warm and the calamari had been sitting on the counter for a long time and it was just barely warm. Then about halfway through the salad, which was very good I will give them that, out came the main course. The server walked up and said..."Ohhhhhhh" surprise surprise...... because she saw we were barely halfway through the salad and calamari...we said we asked that he hold the chicken marsala. She said that she would take it back to keep warm or remake it. It took about 20 minutes to finish up the salad and calamari, and we had to ask someone for the main to be brought out. Our server was no where in sight most of the time and never stopped by to check in if everything was ok. Of course it wasn't remade and was just barely warm on the plate. I could only take a few bites to taste it and it seems it was lacking on marsala abd pretty much tasteless, and the chicken was way over cooked. So that was it for me. Boxes to go please. My GF wants it for lunch tomorrow and will just reheat it. I never complained at all to her because she picked the place out and picked out the dishes to order. So for me i had to give a good review to her. But the truth always comes out. Servers lack basic skill on dish service timing. Bread should have been served immediately. Calamari should have been brought out as soon as it was on the plate, and the salad when ever it was ready. To hold everything to go out all at once was a big mistake. Then serving the main before the appetiser and salad was done and dishes cleared was another big mistake. Lesson I learned is to just order one item at a time. Not all of it at once. Should have just orderd the bread and calamari by itself. The when done, order the salad. Then after it was finished ordering the main. I hate to be rushed and I hate cold food. The tab was over $60. This delightful gem has only been open 2 months and I highly recommend them. The Margarita Pizza was among the best I've ever tasted - and I've eaten pizza throughout Italy. The Chicken Marsala was delicious. It was moist and flavorful, served on a generous bed of pasta with vegetables. The focaccia was amazing and the service outstanding.
