She was excited to try Snowflake Club last winter and it was a disaster. It was impossible to get on any trips and it was so disorganized. The majority of the ski day was her facetiming me in tears that she couldn't find her skis among other issues. After that I swore off local ski clubs, but decided to give Avalanche Club a try after hearing such good things. My daughter has been on 2 trip so far and absolutely loves it. I do think it helps that she's a year older to manage a ski trip on her own, but I've been really impressed with Jordan (the owner) and the rest of the staff. It's easy to get trips (even the week of), the communication is great and my daughter even said the lessons are better. The lessons are taught from resort ski instructors instead of their own staff,which seems to help with quality. The best part about is that they are gone ALL day (the early morning wake-up isn't so fun) and come back exhausted after a long day of skiing. She's looking forward to more trips this year...and in future years too!

There are several adjacent, straight runs (apparently 22, but not all utilized on our warm February day) which provide a decent and safe velocity for young and old alike. There's a conveyor/escalator type of tow that allows tubers to stand and hold their tube to get up the hill. Here's the downside... $55 for 2 hours is steep! Especially for the lack of variety in slope. The food and souvenirs are also way overpriced and it feels unreasonable for a large family to pay to go tubing here. Based on the prices online, it would be better to get a lift ticket and ski rental and have the day to ski, than to pay for 2 hours of tubing. I still recommend Wilmot for the experience. For my neighbors in the Chicago suburbs, it is a nice change of pace for a winter activity.

The biggest draw to this place is the proximity to downtown Chicago about 1.5 hours. Day trips are doable. You can't buy tickets online at Alpine you have to make that trip only to be told it's sold out. Grand Geneva allows you both online or in person. I learned to ski here 39 years ago. It looks almost the same. There are now 2 bunny hills and three lifts for beginner, intermediate and double black diamond. The runs are short but did I mention it's only 90 minutes from millennium Park Chicago. In addition, your really close to charming Lake Geneva. The Lift tickets are a whole 5 dollars cheaper than Alpine Valley- what more can you ask for?

I would say the runs are softer than other resorts, so you can feel good going down Midwest black diamonds. They have ski and snowboard rentals including the shoes. Rental fees are separate. Decent amount of runs and lifts. Their food is great wait staff is helpful and friendly and the wait for food doesn't take too long. The lodge cafe offers hot drinks, bar food, bar, and sometimes live music! It's a nice nearby getaway for folks from the Milwaukee and Illinois area. Parking is also decent. They also have lockers for small and big sizes. Small ones cost 75cents each time you open the locker. $20 for all day. I'd definitely come back for a nice nearby drive away.

They have a TON of lifeguards and it is not at all chaotic like some places can be. Front desk check in was smooth and easy. Express checkout as well thru text and you can leave your keys in the room. The arcade is also nice and they have some mini golf and small bowling as well. They run a shuttle bus to the main resort too and you can do activities at either location for free. I only wish they ran a trolley to downtown!
