I wish I can give no stars!!! I live in Spokane for about 8 years, and every time I go to this location, worst customer service ever!!!!!! I lived in Seattle and my sister works for Nordstrom ( 7 years til current ). Every single time I walk in or try to shop, I never had anyone greet or ask if I need help. This place has a bunch of snobby employees who seemed to not provide any customer service! Especially in the cosmetic / skincare area!! The crazy part is, the employees see me and makes eye contact but no "Hello" or "Can I help you find what you're looking for?" I literally have to go find an employee every time I need to get help! Horrible service. We walked around picking out items for a half hour without anyone speaking to us. When we go to pay we are told we can't purchase half of the items because they are out but for the anniversary sale. We couldn't even pay full price. Go to another level and watch as sales representatives approach to help people around us and walk directly by us. I'd rather fly to Seattle to shop their Nordstrom than shop in Spokane. Well Well. Nordstrom has lost its touch. We can no longer depend on great customer service. Nope, now we might as well shop at Penney's I ordered and paid for two pairs of men shoes. Since we were traveling to Spokane I also paid for express so they would be in the store for pick up. They were not delivered, but my Credit card was charged the almost $300 dollars for the absent shoes. Jezz, Its kinda like the NFL it was good while it lasted! So, a year later I shopped the Spokane, WA Nordstrom (I had been back several times to the Cafe). What a difference! Again, it was the Anniversary Sale, but the end of it. Everyone was incredibly polite and nice in the shoe department and in cosmetics, in particular. The salesperson helping us at cosmetics was very professional and skilled; it was clear she had a lot of training. The Marketplace Cafe was awesome, once again. It is my favorite restaurant in Spokane for lunch. I got a survey after I visited the store, which I filled out. That's pretty normal these days. What was a surprise was that the very next day, the store manager, Alysia Wheeler, wrote me back responding to every comment I made. Wow! Nordstrom really is different than any other department chain out there in terms of customer service. Also, they have the best selection and the Anniversary Sale is the best sale anywhere. I am an author/Editor.. And from time to time I do review places and businesses, I have had experiences with.... I've been in Nordstrom's customer for years.. I stopped shopping because it was not convenient. I had moved. I always paid cash, and have always done so. Now that I'm back on the Upper South Hill, I decided to go downtown and buy a new winter coat, new boots, and just use my Visa card. I was grievously disappointed-at the decreased level of service and kindness, on the part of the clerks at the downtown Nordstrom's! As of a few years have passed, some of favorite brands are no longer offered. It is impossible to buy a winter coat,IF it is not "Puffed! " However I did buy a colored one----with down,a long coat with doubled dippers, and faux fur collar. It did not have warm cuffs like my current coat--But is was a pretty color, instead of black, like all the other rows and rows of Puffer coats. The hood seemed well-made. Zippered pocket seemed to make sense--but The coat didn't seem too weigh much! I wore it to a local music event,had a six minute wait for my ride--nearly froze to death! My old coat ,previously bought at Nordstroms( no longer sold) keeps me warm---I walking fastY warmly, at 35°! I returned the Puffer coat. Two days before coat, I purchased new boots on the first floor. Couldn't find a single person to help me. Seriously. Finally, 1 man in suit and name plate-summoned help. The girl got the kind of boots I showed her, but when she brought them in their boxes--she carefully bought several sizes. I liked the boots they were comfortable, so I took them home---- When I got to a social event, they were clearly too large! I was stumbling around. As a child, they use to measure your feet-- Or at least check the toe box, fit, before you left the store. That never occurred. She never even bent over to tie my shoes, or adjust them. She's just stood there, and watched me put on the boots and adjust laces. I brought the boots back, got a smaller correct size---once again I had to search for help. I like these boots. But a lot of work to get them! There are no attendants on the first floor, unless someone is summoned. So careful attention to customers, is apparently not on the list of priorities now. I also returned a sweater I had tried on-----when I got at home it was back-less, cheaply made, and very thin material. I would've been cold in that sweater on a summer night! Everything's returned. I love my boots--but they're sold elsewhere. I have no idea why Nordstrom's is only selling 'Puffer" coats, with no HAND coverage. I have no idea why they ignore customers. The whole experience was simply bizarre. About two weeks prior to these purchases,I wanted to pair of Clarks shoes which I used to always get, at Nordstroms. I walked in, asked for the brand, & the man said:" I have ZERO." That pretty much sums up my experience! Beware shopping here, in 2018--until they can be more kind helpful and professional-----until their stock improves. I suspect they bought all those rows and rows of Puffer coats, and have to sell them. Well "sell" isn't exactly correct. The clerk passed-- by me a couple of times-- didn't attempt to help me, offer suggestions, or act as advisor in any capacity. In short, steer clear of this business.....until ???? I don't shop at Nordstrom often because the prices are generally too high for my price range which is expected and doesn't bother me much. But when I do decide to go in and look around for something decent, I expect the same Nordstrom Standard customer service that I've experienced at other locations and as a former employee at a location in Lynnwood, I am often disappointed with the service I receive from this location. Most of the employees are more interested in working at the counter or talking to each other which makes me as a customer feel unwelcome to ask for help or come to the counter to purchase items. Unfortunately I had an experience yesterday, I was walking around the store and wandered to the clearance rack (because as I said before most of the items are out of my price range but I love the quality of the product) I had found a cute little t-shirt originally priced at $17 which had been crossed out and written in as $10.20. In my experience in retail if the price is advertised then you should be offering the advertised price regardless if it was mislabeled. I go to the counter to buy the shirt and the associate seemed annoyed that I was only purchasing one thing (not good for her commission I suppose) and threw the hangers and clothes she was working with on the counter and just moved to the next register over where I just followed her lead. She scans the shirt and tells me my total is around $18. I mention that the tag says it's $10.20 and she condescendingly says to me "all these T-shirt's are $17 and it's labeled wrong". Feeling uncomfortable because I felt I was disrupting her work at the counter, she just stares at me, I'm assuming waiting for me to just pay the $18 which is nearly $10 more than I was expecting, considering the tag was labeled $10.20. I tell her never mind I only wanted it because I thought it was $10 and she coldly says to me "okay then" and so I just walk away unsatisfied with my experience and disappointed that I wasn't offered any other suggestions for what I could get instead, why it was mislabeled, or even an apology for the confusion. I love shopping at Nordstrom in stores because I can try things on and see them in person but I might have to steer clear from this location because this isn't the first time I've had a negative experience. read more

I have a love-hate thing going on with Nordstrom these days. First of all I miss the old Nordstrom of the 1980s. Where did it go? I used to love it. The selection in the store for clothes in the 50 year age range is sparse. The concentration in the store seems to be towards young people which seems odd because there are not a lot of young people with a great deal of discretionary income, at least in Spokane. The quality isn't there as much anymore in the clothes either, unless you want to buy Eileen Fisher and other high end lines, which for most part are out of reach for the average person. Also, there also seems to be almost a desperation in the air, sales people sometimes seem stressed out, or scared, or something. It makes me wonder if they are being paid a livable wage? In any event, they are still very helpful. I do wish the shoe salespeople would help me with fit, and their opinions more, like they used to. The cafe is great, and I enjoy the gift shop. The shoe department still has a good selection. Also, the store has some fantastic alterations people. I also think Denise in Anastasia is incredible. You don't often find expertise and professionalism like Denise and those alternation ladies have, here in Spokane. Here's my recommendation for Nordstrom: go back to your roots a little. Cultivate your employees - do whatever it takes to develop a long term sales force who is well trained and loyal to your goal of being a premier department store. Right now, the store does not have that feel. Look for well made lines of clothing, or develop your own - that are affordable, and not just for the 30s and under group. Try diversifying your catalog. More curves and age diverse, of all ethnicities, for instance. Your shareholders are important, but in the long run they will be better served by a store that your customers want to continue to visit. read more

This is specifically regarding the Mac makeup counter. We just had the best time, got fantastic service, and wound up with a great bargain by being informed of an upcoming special. We got to put items on hold until the weekend, so we got the Saturday price on Monday. We were helped by Carmen and Isaac. There was no competition, just a genuine spirit of helpfulness - both to us as customers and to one another. I'm older, don't wear much makeup, but came away feeling like it might just be worth it after all! I have a few really nice quality cosmetics to play with and some good suggestions. read more

I've grown up shopping in Nordstrom since I was a little girl. We'd shop twice a year at the Stanford Shopping Center Nordstrom in Palo Alto... the gold standard. I am a Nordstrom credit card holder and rewards shopper. When our local Santa Barbara Nordstrom closed I was happy to be able to go to one in Spokane where my son attends University. My first visit there as last Friday, March 12, 2021. It was by far and away the worst Nordstrom experience I've ever had. I was followed on each level by a blonde woman who wanted to make sure I slipped my mask up between sips of my cappuccino.(I was one of 5 shoppers in the entire store) Selection was sparse but the vibe was horrific. I walked out without spending a dime...simply because the blonde in womenswear was so horrific. I doubt if this store makes it. I know they need the local dollars to keep it going but with that sort of customer service...good luck. I think another reviewer said it best...pathetic. read more

I've been to numerous Nordstrom locations and even worked for one in Las Vegas. This is probably the worst location I've been too. The selection is poor especially the woman's shoe department. I went in on a Saturday, the store was pretty quiet. I was trying to find some new sandals for the summer. I guess the sales associates here don't want to make any money. They were either conversing amongst themselves or playing on their cellphones. I'll stick to just shopping online. read more

My last three experiences with Nordstrom have really changed my mind. The service and selection in store is sad. Had I been shopping with visitors from out of town, I would have apologized for the paltry selections and styles not to mention absent customer service. My online experiences have been worse. Horrible quality at high prices, backordered items I waited weeks for after repeatedly being told they were "on their way" and then finding the exact merchandise on a different website (yay Zappos!). My daughter in Seattle has also had horrible experiences as of late with their return policy (again, yay Zappos!). I won't even bother with Nordstrom any longer. Coming from Seattle, I thought the Spokane Nordstrom would not live up to what I was used to experiencing at their flagship store. Just the opposite. Same level of customer service and expertise but with the friendly, "know your name" welcome when you visit departments. This store has very low turn-over so the staff knows you, your sizes, your child's name, etc. The selection is great and if they do not have a certain brand, they will bring it in from another store for you to try. I've never had anything less than a stellar experience every time I shop here. read more

I was at the Mac counter trying to find the eyeliner. I circled three times and nobody was paying attention to me. All of a sudden, "Jessie" from the Kiehl's counter came over and asked if she could help. She told me it wasn't her area, but she would help me if she could. She looked for a good ten minutes before she finally offered to ship it to my house for free, because she couldn't find it. She is exactly what you want in customer service! I would give this place 0 stars if I could for stealing over 100 dollars! I got a dress that I desperately needed to be altered. I didn't buy the dress from Nordstrom but since I am a resident physician I have zero time other than about one day off in the week in which I can get as much done as I can. That happened to be only Sundays and a lot of tailor shops aren't open on Sunday in Spokane. So I went to Nordstrom's they told me that they would alter my dress for an expensive price because it wasn't a Nordstrom dress. I reluctantly said okay because I was in a time crunch. They then charged me over $100 and all they did was take scissors and cut my dress. They didn't hem it, they didn't sew it, they only cut it. You could see that it was obviously cut. I called and asked for a refund saying this was not clear that all they were going to do was cut it and I would have done that myself if I had known that. They refused over and over again. So much for customer service. I will never shop at this place again. And I'll tell other people about this. It was straight up robbery. I spend over 80 hours a week caring for patients and gett paid basically minimum wage. So this one hit hard. read more

I had the most horrible experience here today, 11/20/17, at about 3:15pm. First, I have to say that I am shop at Nordstrom quite frequently. As most of my orders are placed online and shipped to me, I often return items that don't fit, are never worn or have quality issues. I'm very familiar with Nordstrom's approach to returns and until today, have NEVER had an issue returning an item for any reason. I entered the store on the third floor and was assisted by a woman who said that she was the department manager for the floor, which appeared to include athletic and loungewear. Before getting any information about the two items I was returning, she told me I was in the wrong department. I was a bit surprised, because I have never been told that I needed to go to a different department for a return unless it was a pair of shoes or cosmetics. She then began to inspect my items, again, before getting any information from me. She was inspecting them embarrassingly thoroughly, and asked me if they had been worn. I explained that they hadn't, and I offered to show her my proof of purchase at that time, but she ignored me. She continued inspecting the pair of leggings I was trying to return. She told me they had been worn. I explained again that they hadn't and I don't know why they appear to be, and also that I couldn't visually see any signs of wear (because they hadn't been worn!) and she replied that she couldn't resell the leggings so I couldn't return them. She also told me, very embarrassingly, that the clothes smelled badly. At this point, I was appalled,l and embarrassed. I have no idea how or why they would smell bad (i couldn't smell anything!) but the smell certainly couldn't have come from me, as the clothing was unworn. Regardless, it was quite humiliating to have a Nordstrom employee explain to me that I was lying about wearing the clothes and that they smelled badly. Sadly, it only gets worse. I decided to turn my attention to the second item I wanted to return, accepting that this employee was not going to allow me to return the leggings. Again, she refused to accept the return. The dress was completely pristine, but without even looking up my order, the employee told me she would not return the dress. I was completely confused, and asked if I could simply visit another counter to find someone willing to help me. She said that if I chose to do that she would call the department and tell them not to accept the returns. Beginning to feel extremely singled out and discriminated against, I left her counter and tried a counter on the second floor, wishing the entire time that I could simply finish my return and leave the store, and move on from the humiliating situation I was in. However, still, it got worse! When I approached the next counter, that employee was talking on the phone, clearly being warned about me, and an older woman who I assume was a manager was quickly summoned. They took one look at the dress I was returning (I gave up on the unworn leggings) and could see that it was new. It took them three minutes to complete my return without any issues or accusations. I left as quickly as I could, feeling the whole time like I was completely unwelcome and never want to return to that store. It's unfortunate because i shop at Nordstrom's very regularly. I did call and speak to the store manager, who listened carefully and was very kind. However, I feel this issue needs more attention. I truly don't know what caused the employee to treat me the way that she did, but I do know that she humiliated me and gave me the worst customer service experience I have ever had, anywhere. It was completely unexpected and unfortunate. I truly don't know when, or if, I will feel comfortable returning to Nordstrom spokane. read more

Not only did she make my experience great, she took the time to locate several items that I would have never thought to try on. This Nordstrom is pretty bad, most of the employees usually stand around, chatting, and ignoring the customers. Hence why the store always seems empty, even on the weekends. Customer service is definitely not their strong suit. Went to pick up a few items at the La Mer counter earlier today, was supposed to get a free gift with purchase, but didn't. At first, the two girls who were helping me said they didn't have it. Then when I pointed out to them that they do in fact have it, they start saying that they can't give it to me because a manager need to overwrite it. So which is it girls? And they asked me to come back some other day, when the manager is present. Funny enough, my bestfriend, who's a Caucasian female, bought a few things at La Mer a few hours before me, and got the gift with purchase. If I don't know any better, I'd think I'm being discriminated. However, I do plan to go back to the store to speak to the counter manager(s). I went to Nordstroms Café and was very disappointed with the customer service. I left my 40oz hydroflask worth about 55 dollars and called two days later to make sure it was there. The lady I talked to said it was and I told her I would be there later in the week to retrieve it. When I went in only a week after I had left it there and five days after I called, the lady who I talked to was very rude and told me my water bottle was gone. She didn't help assist me in finding it or explain what had happened or apologize for the issue. Very upsetting considering a lost about $55 dollars. read more

I came into Spokane on a late flight on Friday night for a wedding. My luggage did not. On Saturday morning the airline let me know that my suitcase was not going to arrive until 15 minutes after the service was going to start! I am 6' 9" so finding clothes that fit me is very difficult. Enter Lauren Johnson and the Nordstrom team. We called before they were open and I told them my situation. Not only did they answer the phone before the opened, they started pulling stuff based on how I answered their questions. I walked in and I was wearing jeans, sneakers and a t-shirt; same clothes for over 24 hours, this was all I had! Lauren, two others and an in-house tailor helped me find a suit, dress shirt, socks, a tie, and shoes! The suit needed to be altered. I have a long narrow foot. After looking all over Spokane, I went to where I should have started. Nordstroms carries my shoe size and width. I bought shoes, including walking shoes. I am a regular Nordstrom shopper, and have actually worked for Nordstrom in Seattle before. Having been an employee, I know that employees are supposed to greet and help you; however, I have had very different experiences over the last 3 or 4 times I've been there. I walked through the entire store for about an hour, and wasn't greeted even once by a single employee. I could understand if the departments were busy and couldn't get to greeting me, but many of the employees decided to talk to each other rather than even noticing that I was on the floor. I walked into a dressing room where no one even talked to me again. In the end I put everything back and left the store. I'll be purchasing those things at a different location or even online. Also, I have been wanting to buy a Rebecca Minkoff purse, but having not been recognized as a person, I decided to wait until I go back to Seattle and purchase it there where I feel like I am treated better. I love Nordstrom and still buy from the Spokane location, I just have been pretty disappointed time after time. read more
