Where do I start. We came during offseason for a weekend getaway. Somehow, the stars aligned and we got the entire common area to ourselves, we booked the treasury suite. I've never seen a house so authentic, welcoming, and warm. Our suite was beautiful, the bed was way too comfy, the service, aka Brenda, was kind, and the breakfast bomb. I finally got a call back but it was when I was on a call for work and couldn't answer. What a mess. If it is this difficult contacting an actual person to make a reservation, how are things handled if there is an issue with the room. No thank you! Stayed at the Inn during wild flower season. Very clean rooms and walking distance from restaurants and shops. There is no air conditioning in the rooms but we had read that before and took a fan with us, so no issues. They also provide a window fan and there is a ceiling fan. Obviously the air conditioning isn't an issue in the cooler months. Would recommend and will definitely be staying again! read more

I'm giving this one star because the rooms themselves were normal hotel rooms. Nothing to write home about either way. However the biggest issue we had was the security and how unsafe we felt. We arrived at 7pm and the desk was already unmanned for the night. The key to the rooms were left unattended out for anyone to grab (there was signage directing anyone who wandered into the lobby to where to find the unattended keys). The keys themselves were actual physical keys that anyone who had stayed there in the last god knows how many years could have made a copy of. But the truly worst part was that the rooms had a deadbolt that had been very intentionally disabled with a note stating they had removed it on purpose. In addition there is no AC in the rooms, despite it being listed as an amenity on one of the third party booking sites. All the rooms were equipped with fans which did cool down the rooms sufficiently by the middle of the night, but it involved leaving a hotel window wide open in ground floor or second floor rooms that overlooked an external walk, which is not something many people would be comfortable with. The breakfast was also pretty underwhelming - frozen Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches you could microwave, etc. read more

So I wanted to leave a review after staying here. I read a lot of reviews before staying and I have some thoughts. We got a dog friendly room during August so we could bike and hike while in CB. I saw some people say rooms were outdated. Maybe we got lucky but ours was a very nice room on the first floor. The bathroom seemed updated. The bed was comfortable enough. I saw people complain about no AC. Most of Colorado didn't need AC until recent heatwaves, especially in the mountains. This is an older inn so no way they would have AC. Our room had a window unit and was perfectly comfortable the whole time. I saw people comment on not being able to shut the window bc of the cooling unit. Crime and theft wasn't really a thought I had while here. It's a quiet ski town. I never thought someone might try to break into my room. Our key was waiting on the front desk because we had a very late check in. I never worried someone might take it. It's a lovely, older place that has all the comforts you need and is close to the mountain. We walked there every morning. If you need something more fancy I do recommend you book a regular hotel. read more

We had two bookings (9/22-9/23 and 9/25-9/26, both for two rooms). Our bank account showed four fully posted charges and two refunds totaling about $100 over what our reservations stated. When I called to resolve it, I was directed to someone named Ryan. Ryan was absurdly unprofessional. From the beginning of our call he repeatedly told me it was "quick/ simple math," and 'it shouldn't be that hard for me to figure out or understand' at points escalated to saying "it's quick f**ing math," and even at one point stating, with a raised voice, "DO NOT TALK OVER ME, IT'S F**ING RUDE" after I had quickly pointed out an inconsistency in some info he was relaying. It was shockingly unprofessional, unnecessarily escalated, and aggravating to try and stay calm through. From here I sent an email including screenshots from our bank statement showing the various payments taken and refunds issued as well as my original confirmation emails showing our expected reservation totals. I then clearly outlined the charges, refunds, and overpayment. Ryan responded by simply attaching 3 folio printouts that did not reflect all the charges shown on our bank statement. In these emails he provided no commentary as to the discrepancy that I had outlined or how his documents provided any proof of the lack of an overcharge. From here I sent a follow up email again clearly outlining the various charges, expected reservation totals and the discrepancy and two weeks later we still have no response or resolution. Payment errors can happen, but being cursed at and treated with belittlement, disrespect, and a clear lack of care is unacceptable. This experience was frustrating and shocking and isn't the type of environment I would want to subject any of my friends and family to. It feels as though Ryan was intent on proving me wrong rather than reviewing all available info and taking the time and due diligence to work through the issue. Ryan could teach a master class in how not to handle any customer service situation. read more

The Nordic Inn needs some updating. We stayed one night in June. The mgr. was very friendly while we checked in. Our room looked nice. Sink area was chic and updated. Tiles in the bathroom needed repair, and it took an effort to pull the shower handle out. The king sized bed was very hard, and the soft topper did not help. Linens were nice; plenty of towels. Ceiling was very pretty, all knotty pine. Door needed a new lock. Exterior needs repairs and paint. Hot tub was clean. Free breakfast was good. There was no night clerk. We were the only guests in the hotel that night, so it was kind of eery. Our experience was average. It could have been extraordinary. The Nordic Inn just needs some TLC and it will provide a wonderful experience. read more

We are filing a complaint with the Colorado Attorney General because of the Nordic Inn's deceptive business practices. On August 19, 2022 I booked a Premium Room, 1 King Bed for Check-in September 30 and Check-out October 2. The Website stated "Free Cancellation" and that we would not be billed until check-in. On our August Visa bill came a few weeks later, we were billed the entire $633.45 for a 2-night stay. We discovered when I tried to cancel our reservation directly through Customer Service at Nordic Inn that a third party actually handled the reservation: Expedia. The C S rep at Nordic Inn told me to contact Expedia for the refund. I called Expedia's Customer Service number only to be directed back to the Nordic Inn to obtain a refund. My only recourse now is to go to the Colorado Attorney General's Consumer Division, which I have done. read more

Had a great stay in Crested Butte at the Nordic Lodge. For the Pros: Attractively priced, great location, recently remodeled rooms were nice and we loved the big plank hardwood floors, the staff was very friendly and accommodating, decent amenities such as the fire pit and hot tub. For the Cons: we wish there was a mini fridge in the room. We had to get ice on the second floor just to cool our drinks. Also- wish you could control the temp in the room and also they left the lights on outside of our room all night - would be nice if they could be turned off since it kept me awake and shined into the room. Also- it would be nice if they had the fire pit on a control with auto shut off so you didn't have to hunt down someone for a key in the middle of the night since the place closes early at 5pm. read more

My family and friends had a wonderful time staying at the Nordic Inn this past weekend. We stayed in the chalet just above the main building, and it was perfect for our little group. With comfy beds, a gas fireplace on both floors, a huge balcony to take in the scenery, and tasteful artwork - it really did feel like a little home away from home. The main building serves an included continental breakfast, as well as snacks and beverages for apres ski. The complex itself is a medium walk to the lifts, just as far to walk as the on base day skiing lot. The staff here is friendly and accommodating, and helped make my family's trip a memorable one. read more

I love this place. I don't know why it seems to fly below the radar..... The location is prime: The Nordic Inn is 1/2 mile from lifts; ¼ mile from Mountaineer Square shuttle into town (shuttles ever 15 min between 7:10 AM- 11:40PM) . You can actually ski /ride down to the hotel parking lot, which is located near the Homeowner Skiway/Columbine Hill. When you are there, you'll notice an upstairs interior hallway - this has ski storage and boot dryers/warmers, which guests are welcome to use. There are vending machines also. Downstairs, there is a comfortable lounge with chairs, board games, and a gas fireplace. They also have an automated bar - an RFID fob on your room key (yep, real metal keys. Remember those???) allows you to get a serving of 8 or so different wines (tilted toward local wineries) and about the same number of liquors. Prices were reasonable, in the $6.00-$10.00 range. Continental breakfast plus cereals are served adjacent to the lounge. They have wineglasses, plates, etc for guests to use, as well as a microwave. Very nice people - I felt like a guest in someone's home. ***IMPORTANT*** - Make arrangements if you're going to arrive after 7:00 PM, and they will leave the keys in your room and ask you to complete the check-in the following morning. They have good wifi and a hot tub, which they ask guests not to use after 10:00 out of respect for people trying to sleep. The rooms themselves have been nicely updated, with very comfortable beds (though, honestly...after a good day of skiing, I could sleep on a bed of nails). Some, but not all, of the rooms have a mini fridge. Ask for a room with one if you want it. My sons and I did....bringing your own sandwich supplies for the mountain can save a LOT of cash. I loved the privacy of the rooms and the quaint main area where breakfast and coffee is served daily. The hot tub was just what the doctor ordered after a long day of skiing. As a visitor of Crested Butte for over 25 years it pains me to write this but it must be said, The Nordic, has a lovely staff but they are grossly negligent. We stayed for our wedding and were charged for 65% of our stay a month before the event. Due to their incredibly poor book keeping, even asking me on multiple occasions to help sort out room reservations, we were over charged by $2500. We called for a week asking them to refund the bogus charges. They said they would but after a week nothing changed. We had to report them for fraudulent charges. Please be aware that they may overcharge you then promise to reverse the charge but never actually do it. We had to report it to the fraud department at our credit card company. Please be aware of these business practices. TLDR: poor book keeping leading to being grossly overcharged and then inability / lack of desire to refund the $2500 in over billing. One of the worst "hotels" I've ever stayed at. This is essentially a motel. Very thin walls. Staff only available during day hours. if you are unlucky and get a back of the motel, first floor room you will hear everything going on above you as well as ppl running up and down the stairs all night. Additionally the parking lot is right outside your window (which in the summer you have to keep open cause no AC/hot rooms). Ppl were so loud and disrespectful in the parking area all night, hanging out, in and out their cars all night, as well as smoking. I reached out after the first night to request a room change and was told the guests that were loud in my first night had checked out... night two was significantly worse. Dog fees are almost $40 per night... for nothing mote than a few towels on the ground... The room itself is worth only $40 a night. Not having staff or security around to help with issues overnight is absurd. would save $600 and sleep in my car over staying here again. read more

I have stayed at The Nordic three times now and would definitely book again. The rooms are clean, the view is amazing, and the staff is both friendly and helpful. Personally, when booking a place in the mountains, I prefer a homey, cabin-like feel...The Nordic delivers just that. Members of the staff helped direct me to good places to hike, ski, and eat within Crested Butte. Overall The Nordic made my experience here a 10/10! read more

Pros: Close to the lifts and the pickup/dropoff for the town shuttle. The room was clean. The bed was fine. The sheets were nice. The breakfast is fine: cereal, yogurt, granola, fruit, bagels, waffles, English muffins, coffee, milk, and juices. About what you would expect from an average continental breakfast. The room was warm even with it being -5 at night. Employees were nice and welcoming. Cons: It's an old building and the walls are paper-thin. You can hear anything going on next to you even if it's conversation level. We stayed next to a couple who obviously need couples counseling, though we did pick up some new insults. The shower pressure is awful and the temp fluctuates +-10 degrees when you're taking one. It goes from scalding hot to ice cold without even touching the dial. The only way to get to the hot tub is to walk over a path of 8-inch thick ice around the building. Overall it was fine. Our Airbnb canceled on us last minute so we had to find a place fast. The location is the best thing about it. read more

We were met with a huge smile and welcome and situated in our room in minutes, with all types of local information and recommendations. Our room was immaculate and comfortable, and the breakfasts were fresh and plentiful. The stay is walking distance to the ski lifts and to the restaurants, pubs and shops in Mount Crested Butte. This place does Not deserve even 2 1/2 Stars. Wow! They call themselves a Bed&Breakfast. It's about as far from that as can be. A B&B serves up a wonderful homemade breakfast. A Continental breakfast does not cut it In the least. Nothing but cheap carbs. Oh sorry hard boiled eggs, yuck. The rooms are fairly clean except windows so dirty you can't see out. Not that there's anything to look at. The black mold in tub should be taken care of. The place needs a lot of care. Railing falling down by the hot-tub is not very comforting. Why the web-site said there were several spas is beyond us. Unless you like run down old rustic I'd stay away. Very very disappointing. We shortened our time there and lost a bit of money. This ski season was our 3rd stay and I feel bad that I didn't write a review when I could give it 5 stars. The past two years we would've given five stars because of the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff and the cute and clean common spaces. The rooms have been fine. We've been lucky enough to stay on the end rooms all three times. Bathrooms could use an update, the in room coffee maker flooded and we didn't get another one and the TV never worked but these are not huge issues. This time, it felt like the staff didn't care much, and just weren't around. The common area was much more dirty and dingy than in the past. I also felt uncomfortable when I witnessed a guest call the "after hours"number at around 6:30-7pm because they locked themself out of their room and the employee on the other line told them where the key was to the closet where all of extra room keys were kept. The guest got in and got his key but had access to everyones keys. One thing I love about CB is that it feels so friendly and safe but this was a little much. It simply felt like the employees were not around. One really positive thing is how hard the employee taking care of the grounds worked at snow removal. It was so appreciated considering how much snow fell! I have to wonder if the owners have lost interest in making The Nordic Inn the unique, friendly place it was meant to be. If I could give 100 stars, I would. My husband and I stayed for three nights during Christmas weekend 2022. It was our first time staying at an "Inn". We usually stay at larger chain hotels when we travel, but were unable to find one in the area. Let me tell you, I was nervous leading up to our trip because we have a dog with separation anxiety who will bark when left alone and at strange noises at night. The intimacy of an "Inn" made me think we would be stuck in the room for the whole vacation babysitting our pup so he wouldn't disturb other guests. I was very wrong! It seemed as if every guest had a dog, but you couldn't hear them. "Pet Friendly" is an understatement. The dogs were allowed to play together in the common areas and outside. There were cookies for the guests at night, and biscuits for the pups. They even provided potty bags to clean up after your dog. My overly anxious doggy was able to safely meet other dogs and had the time of his life...and he didn't bark AT ALL!!!! Aside from how amazing this place was for our furr baby, the staff was great in other ways too. They really mingled with the guests, lit the fire in the lobby, offered advice about the area and told us which attractions and restaurants to visit in the area. They actually got out from behind the front desk and hung out with the guests as if we all knew each other for years. The location of Nordic Inn is great. We were within walking distance from the ski lift and all the shops/restaurants at the base of the mountain. There is also a free bus to take into town for shopping and dining. The scenery from our room was absolutely beautiful. My husband and I don't ski, but love the snow. They gave us sleds to borrow so we could have fun in the snow and even came outside to watch us sled down one of the hills on the property. We had a blast. We also enjoyed the hot tub and fire pit in the evening and the fireplace in the lobby with our breakfast each morning. We will definitely be back! read more

A hidden gem in Crested Butte! For starters, they allow dogs (designated rooms), which is amazing, since our dogs might as well be our children and go everywhere with us. Kim is very knowledgeable about any outdoor activity in CB and was able to provide great recommendations for us for snowshoeing and winter hiking (we were there over Thanksgiving weekend, before the downhill skiing was great). She gave us great restaurant recommendations and we had an absolutely fabulous time on the trails and in town. The inn is newly renovated and is so convenient to the lifts as well as the trails and close to Gothic, which give a great and easy variety of outdoor activities nearby. The main lobby has a cozy fireplace and seating area that is perfect for lounging, playing games, or watching the fire if you're in more of a lazy mood. We will definitely be returning (and, in fact, have booked our next 2 trips already) and are excited to spend more time at the Nordic Inn! read more

The Nordic Inn is wonderful little inn at the base of the mountain. The rooms are well-appointed and clean. Rooms on the bottom floor are pet friendly which our dogs appreciated. There is a common area with games and drinks for purchase and a continental breakfast is included. That said, it was Linda who made our stay here so special. She truly understands customer service and went above and beyond with everyone we watched her interact with. She was a wealth of information on local trails and we took her advice each day. I hope she'll still be working here when we come back next year. read more

Welp, the room was clean. And that is about the nicest thing I can say about the Nordic Inn. Just incredibly disappointed with our stay there. I fully understand that in the time of COVID staffing is a real problem. And especially in a mountain town where all the housing is being bought up by rich folks who live there 2 months out of the year. I fully get that, but this was such a let down. We drove all day to get to Crested Butte and checked in at 3pm. The woman checking us in was nice enough. Not the "treating our guests like family" nice that the website boasts, but no complaints. Then it was all downhill from there. She informed us the hot tub was broken. I get it, it's not their fault, hot tubs break. But there was no apology or offer of a rate adjustment or any other attempt to make up for the fact that their main amenity, one of the reasons we booked that hotel, was broken. We get to our room and it's hot and stuffy. Turns out there is no air conditioning in the hotel. So the room is stuffy and the only fix is a window fan. These are two things I would love to have been informed of before I checked in. The other thing the front desk woman tells us is that after 7pm, there are no employees at the hotel. No front desk person or anything. There's a phone number if you need something. Weird, I think, to have a hotel full of guests and zero employees around but cool, staffing is tough. Until we realize after coming home from dinner around 7:30 that we can't get a drink from their newly installed booze dispensers in the lobby because they didn't set us up with some kind of swipe card when we checked in. And we can't use the fire pit on the deck because you have to get a key from the desk to use it and, as I said, there is no one at the desk. And we can't use the hot tub because it's broken. So we were unable to use ANY of the amenities at the Nordic Inn that we paid for. I was so angry. At 7am the next morning, construction started up at the hotel across the street. Also not the Nordic Inn's fault but when the only way to cool the room is to keep all the windows open and now you have to wake up to diesel fumes and idling engines running for hours, it really sucks. The website claims that the Nordic Inn is a "bed and breakfast". It is not. It has a decent continental breakfast but cold cereal, a bucket of hard boiled eggs, and frozen toaster waffles does not make a bed and breakfast. They won't even let you take the dishes up to your room. I hate Yelp reviews, I've worked in hospitality for 20 years and I think 80% of yelp reviews are entitled people whining so I normally try to talk to someone at the business first, but when I checked out the person at the desk did not ask how my stay was and there is no email address on the website. Now I know why. If the owner wants to get in touch I'm happy to chat. I can't believe I spent $250 to stay here. read more

A decent place to stay. Robert F and George's reviews are spot-on. Carpet could be updated, but overall we had a clean & cozy room. It was warm in our room with the heat wave, so we put the provided fan in the window which helped. Our biggest issue was breakfast. The coffee was bad. The second day we were there and the coffee had been brewed in the percolator and tasted better. We love our coffee, and it was just a damper on an already mediocre breakfast. There is nothing hot (unless you count toast or frozen waffles). If you are OK with a cold breakfast, the rest makes up for it. Up on the hill, so you have to drive into town for shops & food. read more

BE AWARE. Check their cancellation policy carefully. If you miss the deadline, they will not work with you at all. They kept 100% of our payment even though we learned that they are fully booked (meaning they already booked our room for the day we intended to stay) and they won't even work with us to reschedule to another day. Not even a partial refund? I get the policy but I also get that there are other hotels in the area. I'd rather pick one that tries to accommodate, if I have a choice. read more

I got a great deal on a room for my parents last weekend, and they had an awesome experience. The Nordic Inn is really cute with a European, cozy mountain vibe. Kim is an exceptionally gracious host (as is the entire staff) and made sure my parents had a wonderful time. They loved the honeymoon suite, which felt a bit like a treehouse, and raved that the bed was super comfortable. The Nordic Inn will definitely become a regular abode when my family is in town. Great Inn with world class customer service. My wife and I stayed here in August after hiking from Aspen through West Maroon Pass. Kim was wonderful on arrival and had fresh baked cookies (take that DoubleTree). She went out of her way to make sure we had an enjoyable stay and we appreciated it. Our room was cozy and the bed was VERY comfortable, exactly what we needed after 7 hours of hiking. The hot tub also helped out with those sore muscles. Within sight of the city bus and base of the mountain. This will be our new go-to lodgings in Crested Butte. read more
