Elevation is our go-to place for our annual trips to Mt. Crested Butte. While the obvious appeal of Elevation is that it is ski-in / ski-out at the base of the mountain it is the service of the team here that makes every stay special. From the guys at the valet station who greet you with a smile and get you checked in efficiently, to the crew at Elevate who manage your skis, and the folks at Jose who serve up great food and drink, it is the staff at Elevation that makes differentiates. Elevation could use a face lift but her location and people make the experience. Personal shout out to Marco who has been a fixture at Elevation for years. read more

Not sure where my review went... Elevation Hotel has probably shut down to be rehabbed and rebranded. Which is a good thing. Visited over Memorial Day. It was a ghost town, which is fine however there wasn't many staff around to get service, and the coffee shop and bike shops were closed. Overall, the place was nice but felt "tired". Things seemed a little worn out and there was always a horrible mildew smell at the elevator foyer for our floor. Pool and outdoor hot tubs were in need of some upkeep. There is really nowhere else to park, so we got hit with a $30 a day parking fee to park in the grimy garage. There was also a high resort fee that was unexpected. If Elevation remains the same and doesn't get a makeover - I wouldn't stay there again. read more

Stay Away! This place is a dump. No hot water in the mornings. We were told we need to run the shower for 30 minutes before hot water will get to the room. The entire hotel is old and gross. The carpet in the lobby, in the hallways and in the room are beyond disgusting. We have stayed in several Best Western hotels that are nicer than this place. The slope side location is the only perk, otherwise there is no value for the crazy rates they charge. We will not be staying here again. read more

Visited June 2025 We only stayed one night...but Elevation Hotel & Spa made it count. From the second we pulled up, the team nailed it. The valets were friendly, the front desk was efficient and kind, and the crew at the lobby bar made us feel right at home (and yes, they pour a great drink). You can just feel when a place gets hospitality right. The hotel itself is beautiful--mountain lodge style, but elevated (pun fully intended). Think cozy meets classy, with wood, stone, and those Colorado touches that make you want to light a fire, sip some wine, and cancel your plans. Our room was pristine, quiet, and had the kind of bedding you write home about. The mattress was a little soft, which might not be for everyone, but with those luxe linens? I slept like I had no responsibilities. Bonus: the views from our window were nothing short of postcard-worthy. We're already talking about coming back for a longer stay. So this will be a lengthy review because I have quite a bit to say about this hotel and my stay. So getting there from Denver was super easy and the drive was absolutely stunning. Arriving and check in was NOT easy. I arrived and your GPS will take you to the lower level which is where you drive up and there is what looks like a check in desk. Well it's not and no where does it tell you that check in is somewhere else. It's so confusing. VERY confusing. So for anyone who reads this, check in is ON THE 2nd FLOOR. The lady could tell I was flustered and checked me in down there anyways. Check in process was super easy and the bell hop was super nice and took our luggage immediately to our room. Frustration number two was parking. So they thought my truck would be to tall for their parking garage so they suggested I go to the outside parking which has one sign but after that there is literally no clear signage on where hotel guest can park because most of the parking says either for this establishment or tow away zone. Mind you I drove 5 hours to get here so I was ready to get out of the truck and just go to my room and relax. So after circling for 5 mins and still no clear signage on where hotel parking was I said screw it I'll take the chance on the low clearance on their parking garage because at that point I was getting frustrated. Thank god my truck cleared the height. The parking garage is super tight but it worked. The lobby is super cute. They have a bar with live music and a Mexican restaurant, two outdoor hot tubs along with an indoor pool and an indoor hot tub, a ski shop and a spa that offers so much. They also have games you can play with your family. So I loved that. Cute hotel. Made it to my room, super out dated. Nothing modern but it was still a cute and very spacious and I mean spacious room. The tv was the oldest flat screen I've seen and the remote to get it to work you have to literally smash the buttons super hard to change the channel. Our room also came with a balcony that was a valley view. Loved that. Only suggestion I would suggest is have some chairs out there to enjoy the view. Our room also came with a couch and a kitchenette with minimal supplies but it does the job. Bathroom was very small but I loved the tub. Our toilet had clogged and it took 4 phone calls and an hour and half later before anyone showed up to fix it and the hotel was not busy. When I went to take a bath the plug wouldn't work so I had to use a wash cloth to clog it fill up the bath. I didn't dare call the front desk because I didn't feel like waiting another hour to get that fixed. When I kept asking for the manager the front desk kept telling me they would call me back they never did, only to find out there was no manager on duty so they kept lying and were just so unprofessional. The bed was a king and was super comfy and so was the pillows. They were perfect for me! I did end up eating at the hotel restaurant and 0/10. Food was horrible! I got shrimp tacos they were so chewy and had no flavor, chips and queso, chips were good but the queso was so thick and tasted off and I got the tres leches that was dry and nothing like what I'm use to having. Overall I paid 76 dollars for those three things and was not even worth $10 bucks. The staff at the restaurant were super nice though like super nice! Parking is $30 a day. So keep that in mind. Pros to my stay, bed was comfy, it was literally right behind the snow lift so you can walk to it in less than 2 mins, tons of little shops and some food spots and liquor and convince store and 2 min walk to the shuttle that takes you into town which is free and it runs every 15 mins. Besides the front desk people that weren't that great everyone else that works there is amazing. The day I checked out a manager did call me and she was super nice and made things right. She didn't charge me for my parking and took all the food charges off my account which was just that one. Overall I don't think I would stay here again. Just too many cons for me especially driving 5 hours and I paid $373 for one night. I'm okay with the price I just expect a finer experience. Had I known this I would of stayed with my original stay I had booked for $150 at one of their Inns in town that didn't look to shabby. I'm blown away by how many positive reviews this place has!! I "stayed" here the past sat and it was a complete nightmare - needs an update BADLY, no AC (not a huge deal but for $300?? No) smelled like cigarettes , fan in the room was broken as well as the other bed in the room - WE REFUSED STAY while they refused to give us our money back saying "the room is clean - what else do you want"..hmm I don't know..our money back?? This hotel has two redeeming qualities: location and the ski shop. Do not expect much in the way of service or housekeeping. We saw a lot of trash sitting outside rooms because housekeeping has to be requested (which I don't recall anyone telling us until we asked about it) and I guess no one else bothers to clean up the trash from the rooms or hallways for days. My wife and I stayed here around 12 years ago and it seemed much nicer then. The hotel is right at the base so that's really helpful; the ski shop is excellent and you can store your skis here overnight which is another plus for this place. Besides the location and the ski shop, there's not a lot of positives for me to mention. Also, be prepared for a lot of dogs in the hotel. Another odd observation is the location of the toilet paper fixtures in the hotel rooms; standard is for the toilet paper fixture to be 26" from the floor and 8 to 12 inches from the front of the toilet in the horizontal plane. The toilet paper fixtures here are low (18" from the floor) and located about a foot behind the front of the toilet so it's a little awkward to reach down and behind which is even more uncomfortable when you're bundled up to go ski. read more

5 Stars No Doubt! We LOVED staying here. We had stayed here in the summer before... but winter is PRIME. It's literally a step from the lift. You can't get any closer if you tried. It's definitely the best option in CB! The staff was incredible! Shout out to Alex at check in - he was amazing and said he had only been there for 6 weeks?! Would not have guessed - he was awesome! The bar José is open ALL DAY and they were just breaking ground on a lobby bar. It's a bit outdated - but honestly, it's so Crested Butte. It's not for the luxurious it's for the adventurous and that's what makes the town so amazing. I could care less if there was even a TV in the room - we were barely in there. Rooms are so spacious with balconies. We are already planning our next trip here! read more

Love this place for the convenience for skiing. The guys just take your skis right on in and hand them right back to you when you're ready to go back out. Very easy to come down have lunch or meet up with Family and go right back out. Did not enjoy the Mexican restaurant Jose. The last time we were there they had a pretty good upscale bar food with nice burgers. Now it seems to be pretty cheap Mexican food without jalapeños Common areas (bar/lobbies) are nice and relaxing with pool tables and ping pong. Live music after sling was nice but not overwhelming. Dog friendly and was missing mine. There was not enough food, particularly in the mornings. Coffee shop/bar area had very limited pastries, but otherwise had to eat at the Mexican restaurant. Also, On the base of the mountain, very minimal restaurants. Best to take the bus into town. The bus was easy and on time (every 15 min). The hotel felt understaffed. It seems that they were under staff and did not offer room cleaning on a daily basis without request. The TV is dated. And very poor internet. For what's worth, we had good time but I can't stay there again without a major upgrade in internet speed Can't stream anything with .3-.5 mps. The biggest problem we had was very poor Internet service. We were getting less than one mbs which is good for some things, but not for the work I was trying to do while my family were out. Would not stay here again with the simply being the only issue which was incapacitating for me trying to still work a bit while on vacation read more

Kinda grungy-service was terrible. Beds will leave you with a sore back. Only thing good about this place is the Ski-in-Ski-out. Don't even think about checking in early bc they have a strict "we will not help you out" policy. Needs updated and parking is a JOKE. They will make you pay for a space they don't have. 4.5/5 - honestly loved this place! It is not cheap, plus there's a "resort fee" and you have to pay to park. We visited for Christmas so we were ok with spending the extra money for a special occasion. Our room was beautiful and clean and came stocked with everything we needed. The hotel is cozy and just steps away from the ski lift! They had a beautiful spa/fitness area and we loved the two outdoor hot tubs overlooking the mountains. Really everything was perfect. Rooms could use an upgraded tv, but luckily we were busy skiing and barely used it. The long has a ski rental shop for anything you forgot/need and they have a cool bar outside you can ski right up to. read more

First time visiting Crested Butte, CO and we stayed at Elevation Hotel and Spa. We have received amazing service from the moment we arrived. Our room was upgraded to our pleasant surprise. Beautiful and clean room and no pet smell considering it's a pet friendly hotel. We had dinner at Jose's and 2 of our dishes were delayed. The waitress comped our meals without us bringing up any issues. We decided to extend our stay a few days and Alexis was amazing to work with. She had worked a very long shift the day before and still took the time to add in some perks for us extending our stay. read more

We stayed at Elevation hotel and Spa last week. The hotel is beautiful, and the staff is amazing. However, It would have been nice to know that the hotel has no air conditioning when I booked. I was told by the front desk, that air conditioning was not needed in the mountains and there was a box fan in the closet. We only had a sliding door, so we placed the fan in front of the door. It was very warm in our room during the day at night it did cool down, but trying to get dressed for a wedding in a very warm room was unpleasant to say the least. We were charged $30.00 a night for parking. Unfortunately, there is not always enough space in the garage to park so we ended up parking down the street. The garage is very low so if you have a large vehicle, you may have issues. read more

If you want a ski-in/ski-out resort in Crested Butte, this is the best hotel for it. I'm 99% sure they're the closet to the ski lift above all the other hotels in the area. From the check-in desk to the ski lift is about 100 meters. On site is a clothing store, cafe spot, indoor pool and spa, outdoor spa, cornhole, and a kids game area. Upon check-in I was also given a complimentary beer! That's how you start a vacation! the room was also very spacious and offered a full kitchenette (half-size refrigerator, microwave, and toaster) stocked with plates, bowls, and utensils. I did have an issue with the indoor spa. The chlorine level was sooooo high my entire family started coughing within 5 minutes from sitting in the spa. We had to run out coughing and felt itchy throat for a few minutes afterwards. The chlorine even changed the color of my wife's shorts! I left a review with the hotel and the manager contacted me a few days later and resolved the issue for me. Hey, stuff happens and me and the fam are okay. Aside from that, I'll definitely be back next season! read more

this place is a joke. I have never seen a more incompetent food and beverage program. It is all based on QR codes eliminating interaction between the customer and the waiter. Essentially a glorified McDonald's. You order from a picture on your phone and a delivery boy brings it, except no one has the same tables - the right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing. It took six waiters and 30 minutes to get one drink and the tables next to me has the same issue. You cant order a specific drink you can order Only what they have in their manifest on your phone. If you want something special you may get a waiter to take your order but somebody else might deliver it to a different table, which is what happened to me six waiters in a half an hour to get one drink - no kidding Room service is no better you have to go on your phone to order something and every time you have to put your credit card in despite the fact that they have it at the front desk. You can't tip anybody except with cash which is ironic since they trying to be so digital with the QR c idea but force you to use cash that nobody carries anymore The pool is the size of most resorts hot tubs and was so cold when I was there I could not go in it. The hot tub inside is stuck in a corner and wasn't working, the two outside overlook a parking lot iand are standard small four person hot tubs The balconies are horrible and a V-shaped which enhances conversation to the uncomfortable stage as it echo's around. They don't even put furniture out there - you have to drag your furniture from inside the room if you want to sit on the balcony they are so poorly run there was nobody at the bell stand because I saw our Bellman from check in painting the lobby. They can't hire a contractor? The lobby areas look like the Westin O'Hare very corporate yellow mustard and gold colors and no Sense of being in the mountains. We've been here almost a week, $300+ per night. That cost comes with certain expectations. Paying $4 for a tiny box of cereal, $1 for a black banana, and $3 for a tiny milk is the only option for breakfast on site. Internet has hardly worked, TVs on our one night in from the beautiful scenery was out in the whole hotel. We were given 1 plate, 1 bowl, and a pair of knives and forks. Nothing to wash them with though, and room service will only change the sheets (not do the dishes)- for $7. They left our pillows on top of a lamp and remade the bed with the same sheets. The "restaurant" on site is awful. The croquette madam was literally a piece of toast smothered in cheese with some indeterminate mess under the toast. I was curious if this was covid related staff shortages, so I asked the front desk to help me understand. She said they were fully staffed and had upped their cleaning procedures, so I really don't understand what's going on at this hotel. It certainly did not meet any expectations, as the stay at a Comfort Inn in Amarillo Texas on our way here was significantly better. The town and the location is amazing, and everywhere we ate in town was top notch. It has been a disappointing surprise that Elevation Hotel was so terrible. Do not stay at this hotel! read more

My family was hit by a drunk driver in 2020. We almost died. My husband was significantly injured and is now handicapped for life. And Elevation does not want our business. For all you handicapped skiiers/snowboarders out there, cross this off your list of accessible destinations if you happen to have an oversized car. They can't accommodate large vehicles. In fact during our last stay, it was suggested we leave our van in the front of their hotel enterance. No problem for 2 days. However on the 3rd day, the property manager asked for our keys and held them, despite not actually providing valet services, in case he needed to move our van for other guests. When we left our side mirror was smashed. Most likely another guest who decided hit and run was a victimless crime, but we decided to call the hotel to see if they could help us figure out the situation. 5 calls over 20 days, and not a single call back. Apparently, it's not their problem. Apparently, because it's "park at risk," despite employees asking for and receiving access to our private vehicle keys that was then damaged, we don't even deserve a call back. Not even a simple, "I'm sorry, but we can't help you" was was warranted. Not even for repeat customers. Don't think that this is anything other than a mediocre hotel in an excellent location - food is garbage, accommodations are average, but access to ski resort is unparalleled - as long as you aren't disabled and driving an oversized vehicle. read more

We stayed here recently while attending the Crested Butte Wildflower Festival. This was the recommended hotel for the event. There was no air conditioning in the rooms and it made for some very hot and stuffy nights even with the slider opened. They do provide a floor fan but it was noisy and as someone who claims to state they are a resort??? Our room was on the 4th floor, there was often no hot water especially in the mornings. I went to the desk to speak to someone twice about the issue. The Second Gentleman let me know it was a known issue. He said to let the shower run for 30 minutes before getting in. I did this and still the water only went from icy to lukewarm. As someone from a state with limited water resources this felt so wasteful and crazy as their solution. Lastly, the hotel charges for parking which is $30 per day. We often found ourselves scrambling to find a very tight fitting parking spot and some evenings there were no parking spots. This hotel definitely did not meet or exceed our expectations considering what we paid. It definitely needs so upgrades and refreshing. read more

Room keys don't work, have a $30/ night resort fee(it's not a resort) and the bars/restaurants ere closed at 9pm on Saturday because the manager on duty decided it was a slow night supported by a bartender with a bad attitude. Not the greatest stay or handling of a situation regarding missing valuables. I rarely write reviews. On day of check out (check out time is 11 am), I had exited the room around 10:20 am to go grab food, leaving a do not disturb sign on the door. I re-entered the room around 10:50 am, and to my disbelief, the do not disturb sign had been taken off the door (thrown on the ground) and my personal valuables were missing (the only changes to the room). I had not yet checked out. The room had not been cleaned (towels were still on the floor, bed was unmade, trash was not taken out, etc.) and everything else still looked the same. I went to the front desk and management about the issue. About an hour later, the personal items returned to the room. I had been promised by management that they were going to be put in the lost and found and that it was only a misunderstanding. I have a tough time believing this. When I had complained, there was no note on file that these items had been found in my room (keep in mind this had all happened before check out time and there was a do not disturb on the door). Management told me there was nothing else they could do as the items had been returned and it was a mistake. Something about the entire situation feels really off and management did nothing to make my suspicions feel less this way, if anything they made them way worse. The only thing they could tell me is that "they would relay my complaint on". I do not like how the entire situation was handled by management (front desk handled the situation very well). I want to provide a beware warning as this worked out in my favor that my personal items were returned because I noticed right away but I am not sure this would happen in all cases. read more

I met my Aunt and Uncle at Elevation Hotel & Spa to enjoy the beautiful wildflowers in the Crested Butte area. We had a great time at the hotel and it was also perfect season for wild flowers, there we so many and so many areas to view them. The hotel was clean with spacious rooms. Hot tubs were quiet and relaxing. The staff was extremely friendly from front desk, to maintenance and the restaurant. We ate at the restaurant both nights and it was delicious. We also were able to enjoy mountain music on Wed night at the restaurant, which happens every Wednesday through the summer. Overall great stay and cant wait to come back! read more

This place has no air conditioning and I called and talked to someone personally who assured me their was ac in the guest rooms. Two ladies with asthma and this is totally unacceptable and they only offered to refit me the $20 parking fee for tonight. With the unusual heat this July they should be very careful when giving out info that could cause a health problem. NOT HAPPY!!!!! read more

I've stayed here on 3 separate occasions. Each time, in a double queen, a king, and a large one bedroom suite. The customer service has always been consistent with an attentive front desk staff regardless of if you stay on-season or off-season. Some highlights I enjoyed: The ability to mobile order from their restaurant right from your phone, the option to enjoy an indoor or outdoor hot tub, cleanliness and comfort of the rooms, incredible views for being at the base of Mount Crested Butte, and finally a temperature controlled smart microwave. It surprises me the value of the costs per night here, especially when you are staying at a full service resort. Staying here is a sure safe way to be comfortable and accommodated for a weekend in Crested Butte. read more

The room I was in could use a lot of maintenance. Sliding screen door was barely hanging on and did not close. That's a problem when you want to sleep at night with the glass sliding door open for the cool air. Half the outlets did not work consistently. They'd work for a little and then suddenly stop? The room setup was just weird. I walked a small distance to park my car in a free lot... their $20 per day parking charge just seemed ridiculous. Elevation review I haven't stayed at elevation in a few years because our last experience was so terrible. We decided to give it a try since it's under new ownership. The service is still terrible & the rooms are even more tired/in need of updates than before. We arrived & were looking forward to watching a baseball playoff game. Our circa 1997 first generation flat screen tv wasn't working. We went to the bar at Jose's to watch the game, but after waiting 5 minutes to get someone's attention at the bar (despite there being no other customers there), we were told they closed at 8 pm, but we could change rooms. We looked at another room, but the channel we needed wasn't working in that room either. So, the next day, we returned to our uncleaned room after working all day. I called the front desk to request service. After waiting 12 minutes on hold, I walked down to the front desk. I mentioned that our room wasn't cleaned, & we were asked "did you request service?" I explained that we weren't told that we had to request it when we checked in. The front desk employee was "so sorry about that as well as the hold, but they were so busy." I explained that it would go a long way to reduce frustration if callers were offered a return call instead of being told there would be a "brief hold." I got the same response - "so sorry, but we've been so busy." That's really not the point. It's now you handle being busy, not the fact that you're busy. Also, the hot tub blower doesn't work . . . of course. Staying here is an exercise in frustration. I think the new owners should consider a new motto that would be fitting under past and current ownership: "Elevation . . . where service (& any amenities you expected) go to die." read more

Stayed here Friday 8-11-23. Booked a room on there website for $199. Looked at my bank statement to find out they billed me $300.50 for the room and an additional $250 for what was supposed to be the refundable $50 deposit. Called them to clarify the charges and was told the extra $100 they billed for the room was for a $50 a night parking pass in there garage and a spa fee that we were never informed of or used. After arguing with them was told the best they could do on the room was $238 "because of tax" even though I have a picture of my confirmation that shows a total of $199. When asked what the $250 charge was they told me the concierge must of "accidentally" billed me $250 instead of the refundable $50 deposit. Was told they would try to reverse that charge and to call back in 10 days if it hasn't. ‍ Same thing happened to several of my friends who stayed there the same weekend. Find it pretty hard to believe it's accidental. What should of been a $199 night turned into $500.50 in charges. Highly recommend staying away from elevation and there hidden fees. We will be staying at the grand lodge for future trips. read more

A "glass" of wine is a 2 oz. pour, smallest I've ever been served anywhere. $5.00 each for 1 oz. of granola for breakfast, plus $2.00 more for a little milk. $20 "Resort Fee" for the pool whether you use it or not. We loved this place- even the pup was welcome! We stayed here in October 2019 during off season so prices were lower...and everything seemed to close super early. What we loved the easy parking ($20/night), beautiful lobby with a fireplace, pet friendly ($35ish/night), and beautiful hotel rooms with a mini bar area. Not sure why some reviews are so low. Also not sure the price difference during off season and ski season...assuming it's a crazy difference since the ski lift is right behind the hotel. It is also a 5 minute drive to downtown Crested Butte. Not a big deal and there is a shuttle that runs until 10:40pm. Highly recommend this place especially if you are traveling with your furry friend. read more

Meh. This hotel could have potential but definitely falls short. The best thing is the room size. Very spacious. One could live here! Our room was basically a one bedroom, two bath with living room and kitchen. But... there is always a but! We checked in and were asked for vehicle info, which we gave. Oh yeah, did I mention that it was $20 per day to park on top of the $20 per day resort fee for the amenities we didn't use? I digress. This morning we went down to our vehicle and found a nasty note on the windshield saying that the parking was for hotel guests only and we risked being booted with a charge of $250. Wait, what? Ummm. You can only enter the garage with your room key. Pretty sure my Jeep didn't limbo under the barricade! When we returned, there was a bunch of people at the front desk so we called down after we got to our room. The lady on the phone had attitude, which seems to be normal with the majority of staff here. We were then informed we had to put a parking pass on our dash, something Einstein failed to give us on check-in. They didn't seem to mind inconveniencing us to come down, wait in line then go put on our dash. Deferred maintenance seems to be the mission statement at the hotel. A toilet leaking onto the floor, very evident. One window in the bedroom is screwed shut, leaving just one window to open with no AC. The screen door in the living room was torn and beat up. After housekeeping, our dirty cups remained in the sink and old coffee still in the pot. I know stainless appliances can be tough to clean sometime but a clean rag goes a long way! As someone else said, there choices of places to stay are plentiful in the lovely town so I guarantee we won't be staying here again. read more
