The hotel at the end of the street. It's so cute and the two I saw working the front desk are so nice. I had a full room on the first/main floor. I heard the upstairs is more of a hostel situation. I dont know and didn't ask. The room I had was clean. It doesn't have AC, but there is a ceiling fan and another table fan if needed. Which I did use. Plenty of space and lights and mirrors. There's a free happy hour from 4:30pm - 7pm. Breakfast is included. Fresh berries for the win. Water, Lemonade, and cookies for mid-day snack. It's cute and cozy and very walkable to town. I felt safe, and would def go back and stay again. read more

THIS HOTEL HAS STICKY FINGERS!!! My partner is currently on a work trip and is staying at this lodge. He was relocated to a different room today 5/1/26 (Friday) which is no problem, however he had left behind a couple items I gifted him. He leaves to work 6 am returns by 4ish pm. There is no receptionist on duty by the time he leaves to work to report he had left his items and when he returned from work there was no receptionist as well. 5/2/2026 (Saturday) 6am there is still no receptionist to report the missing items until that afternoon when he was off work he was able to speak to a condescending receptionist. They allow him to check to the room which by then has been cleaned by room service. There is nothing in lost and found of his. The receptionist starts creating scenarios and possible outcomes (maybe you left it at work, maybe you left it in the car, maybe you left it at a bar) and ultimately ends the conversation "well that's you". We have stayed in many hotels and when we have forgotten items they have always been returned and even mailed back to our home which we obviously pay the the shipping and handling. The staff likes to keep forgotten items and gas light you about it. read more

Especially when you consider the price and the fact this is in Aspen, this is definitely a five star experience for a hostel. Everything including the shared bathroom is immaculately clean. The lobby is very comfortable and inviting with free wine during happy hour, cookies, lemonade, newspapers, and great leather chairs you can sink into. The front desk person was wonderfully friendly and helpful, giving us all kinds of great advice. There's a pool, sauna, in-room fridge ... our room with twin beds is small but fine. The bathroom has soap, shampoo, mouthwash, earplugs, and disposable razors. Great! read more

Dirty sheets when we tried to go to bed. Found dog hair, human hair & eyelash plus actual dirt where someone's feet were. Called management who said "I can't help you tonight (9:30pm) but will take care of this first thing in the morning). We had to scavenge sheets from another bed we weren't using bc there were no extra sheets in our room. Next morning no call, no visit, same dirty sheets remain on the floor. We will not go back!! Furniture is old needs a deep clean Walkways not well lit and rotten uneven wood. Difficult to navigate in the dark. Stairwells without rail on both side. Tough w luggage. No AC Beautiful views Update: Spoke w Christine Bradley about our issues w the bedding, etc She was very responsive and was able to refund our cleaning fee which I thought was adequate. Hope they can get their folks to clean properly. We also noticed our room was unlocked when we arrived so that was another thing I mentioned to Christine that she might want to make sure doors are locked after cleaning so people don't go in to use the room after. read more

Great value and amazing hospitality! Tom set the tone for our stay at check in. He gave us a map and highlighted a few restaurant recommendations - the ones we tried were really good! The property overall and our room were very clean. There was a lovely happy hour that I got to try out one afternoon - white wine and freshly popped popcorn. :D We didn't go in, but there was a big pool / giant hot tub that looked inviting. Would definitely stay again. read more

The St. Moritz was such a pleasant surprise! Admittedly, I was a bit worried about staying here at first, but figured I could brave it for one night. I ended up absolutely loving it here... I felt like I was staying in my grandma's house, in the best way. My first impression was that the staff was amazingly friendly and accommodating, allowing for use of the free parking lot, restrooms, and breakfast items both well before and well after checkout. Although the rooms on the hostel side are very basic and bare bones, they are clean and check off all the boxes of necessities. Because of COVID-19, the rooms were all private occupancy which was great. Communal bathrooms were spacious (2 sinks, 2 stalls, 1 shower stall) and cleaned regularly. The outdoor pool doubles as a jacuzzi (one side has jets) and is heated to 92 degrees. There is also a full kitchen below the lobby if you wish to cook your own food. For the price, it is hard to beat this location. About a 5-10 minute walk gets you to tons of shops, restaurants, bars, the gondola, and Rubey Park Transit Center (free shuttles to Aspen Highlands, Snowmass, etc.). Do not confuse a 5 star Yelp review with a 5 star hotel. The St. Moritz truly is a 2-3 star hotel, as it is advertised. Walls are thin, windows are tiny, and the rooms are very cramped; however, if you come into it knowing and accepting this, the St. Moritz provides a clean room, convenient location, and comfortable bed at a price that cannot be beat (hey, that means more money leftover to spend on food). I would stay here again in a heartbeat! read more

The location is excellent, close to everything since Aspen is a small town, almost walking distance to shops restaurants etc. We booked room with shared bathroom, the bathroom was clean, bedroom was small and cozy, it was quiet at night, practical and served the purpose. The breakfast was supplied, it's simple and convenient, saved time to find breakfast outside. The only caveat is that parking space is very limited, be prepared to park on street. read more

I booked on Expedia and missed the shared bathroom part. My biggest complaint is that they have Kamala Waltz signs all over out front. I don't particularly care for either party. My belief is that the government is too much in our lives and spend our money wastefully. The difference is I don't post signs in my yard saying I don't approve of our political system. Grandma always said don't talk religion or politics with people you don't know. If they had Trump signs I'd write the review as such. Other than that it's an affordable place to stay in Aspen read more

This place is odd. I first went into the lobby and the first thing was a smell permeating the place. My only definition of it was a greasy old man smell I got to the room and realized theres no AC ,but fans available. The staff may be family because they are odd. One front desk clerk corrected me and was condescending upon arrival. A tap on the door shortly thereafter said my tv volume was too loud ( i had fans on high to fight the room heat) only one thin window opens slightly too I was shocked at the 10 AM checkout time. I asked the front desk if it could be extended. He said to call in the morning I called in the morning. I was told CHECKOUTS AT 10 THE BEDS ARE WELL USED AND HAVE DIPS IN THE MIDDLE AND BATHROOM ENTRY IS ONLY 2 ft. And very old decor Finally, the pool closes at 10. LOL SO MANY NEGATIVES read more

This was the cheapest place near downtown Aspen but it was still $200/night for the room in my photos during the week of Christmas (yeah yeah peak time). Two twin beds and a small mini fridge. The mini fridge is really good though, froze my celery solid. You get 2 metal keys for your room. The beds were pretty short though. Anyone taller than 5'7'' will be cramped. They were very comfy and soft. Not the bedspring type. Pillows were flat and blankets were alright. Good thing the heater works well. Definitely reminded me of college dorming because the bathroom was shared for the whole hall. Good thing there was 1 for men and 1 for women. Each bathroom had 2 sinks, 2 toilet stalls with a door and 1 shower with a door. Also an ironing board with iron and a hair dryer. It's also where you toss your towel (you get a fresh towel everyday when they make your bed). The staff was very nice and there was free breakfast and afternoon snacks everyday. Breakfast had a variety of fruit, Sunny D, slices of salami and cheese, bagels, frozen waffles, some cereal, milk, boiled eggs, and condiments. Afternoon snack was some salty popcorn, cookies, and hot apple cider. The living room is really cozy so some people hang out there. Less than 5 minute walk to the free bus stops or about a 10 minute walk to downtown. About 20 minutes by bus to/from the airport, 15 minutes to Buttermilk, and over an hour to Snowmass. 1.5 hours to Glenwood Springs for $7. Overall, great place if you're on a budget. read more

I usually stay here every time I attend a show at Belly Up, being there's free on site parking, and walking distance to the venue. Staff is always friendly. Wonderful they have a tea, wine hour and continental breakfast included. Pool is in a beautiful courtyard. The rooms are small but that's expected and who wants to stay on your room other than to sleep. Property, including communal bathrooms are always clean and tidy. I will keep coming back for my visits. Thanks St. Moritz! read more

In the midst of Aspen's peak summer season, I was looking for a simple, respectable place to stay for a night at the end of a hiking adventure. This hit the spot perfectly. Right at the start, Tom (manager) was very friendly and efficient at sorting out a mix-up with my reservation. Small courtesies go a long way. There's a mini-library with a refreshing collection of books for people who actually like to read (Stig Larsson, Ron Chernow, DH Lawrence; Tara Westover's Educated, even Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart, for goodness sakes!) The small lobby is a very nice place to sit for a bit; the courtyard is great, and the rooms deliver all the basics. If you're looking for Four Seasons elegance, this isn't the right place for you. But if you're on a budget and looking for a place that's restful and energizing, in what can be a very pricy part of Colorado, this is it. read more

Oh St Moritz Lodge, where do I even begin. I know I was in Aspen by the price of this place, but 245 dollars for a room that felt like it was a 30 dollar room elsewhere. When I first arrived, I felt like I found the one random corner of town that just didn't seem right. Granted the area is actually not that bad, and its only a few blocks away from the restaurants and bars. When I walked in, I was greeted by the front desk clerk. He was nice and professional. He knew the area and gave some restaurant suggestions and marked them on a local map. I walked up to my room, and you can hear the tv's and conversations from the other rooms. Walls in this place are like paper for how much you can hear. I truly mean that, you can hear the people above you, anyone walking through the hall, heck I even knew when my neighbor was using the bathroom and shower. I know a lot of hotels you can hear the noise, but they are not as loud as here. I opened up my room, and got hit with a strange odor. It wasn't the odor of death bad, but it was an old musky scent. One look into the bathroom, and the scent made sense. The bathroom looks like it was from the 1970s with the tile floor continued to the bathtub and sink. For how much tile there was, they should have just put it over the mirror and onto the ceiling. Cosmetics aside, lets talk about that toilet. The flush on it was terrible. I only had toilet paper in there and it took 2 flushes just to get it down the drain. I was afraid to drop the kids off at the pool, for I don't think the toilet could have handled it. On the plus side, the bathroom was well stocked with towels, soaps, shampoos, and lotion. Now lets talk the bedroom side. The thermostat didn't do anything, so I could not get any AC for the night. Thankfully there was a ceiling fan, oh wait, the fan only had one speed, weak. At last, the third thing that could make the night comfortable was available. One of the windows did have a screen and was able to be opened. The closet was a giant mirror, but there was a mini fridge, iron, and a box fan. The TV was a Toshiba flat screen and looking at the channel guide, you did get a decent list of channels. The bed was decent as well to make the night tolerable, assuming you can sleep with all the sounds from outside the room. If it was the sound of a babbling stream, I would be happy. However, all I heard was bang, bang, step, step, flush, bang, faucet, step. There is a swimming pool here, however I did not check it out. Now to be fair, this place is part hostel and part private room. The place was established in the 1970s, and I don't think they have done much updates to the building. You are getting what you paid for (Aspen marked up paid for.) This is practically the cheapest thing you are going to find near the heart of Aspen. However, because it is Aspen, you are paying a premium that I just don't think this property in its current state is worth. Of my entire trip through Colorado, this was my most expensive night, and also the least appealing place I stayed. This place served its purpose which was a place to sleep. I think if they could update the building to reduce the noise, and get rid of that strange smell, I believe this place could be decent. read more

For a last-minute run to Aspen last week to hear some magnificent Bach, we spent a pleasant night in one of the dorm-type rooms at the St. Moritz Lodge, and were delighted with how well-run, clean, and comfortable was the whole experience. A shared bath for the dorm rooms (which in part explains the low price), but one that was sparkling clean and full of thoughtful amenities. There's a swimming pool in the meticulously maintained garden, at this season full of colorful flowers, and a generous breakfast with bowls of fruit and much else. Tom at the front desk was warm and welcoming, always helpful and pleasant to chat with. I can't say enough good things about the St. Moritz...which makes me worried: if everyone who can't afford the Jerome (at 10 times the price) comes here instead, how will there be room for me? Still, I'm glad to give them the good review they deserve. read more

Can't wait to come back! This place is amazing the owner is really kind and the property is very well taken care of. I have never stayed at a hostel that has a heated pool or that served breakfast for free in the morning. This is definitely the place to stay at if you are on a budget. read more

My boyfriend and I almost didn't book this place because of some pictures we saw and bad reviews but we are so glad we did! It's part hostel, part hotel. We booked our own private room for a very reasonable rate. It's within walking distance to EVERYTHING!!! The hostel rooms are on the 3rd floor away from the private rooms. The private rooms are basic but have everything you need and most importantly, they are clean. The rooms are compact but comfortable. They include a fridge, iron, steamer, television, stand alone fan, and a desk. The pool is clean and heated to 91 degrees. We enjoyed it and took full advantage of the beautiful exterior grounds. The staff was helpful and friendly. Let me just mention, I'm picky and use to rate hotels for a living. I would return to St. Moritz anytime! read more

This was my first time visiting Aspen. I am still young and was looking to make Aspen somewhat affordable, knowing that this area is pretty pricey, but also beautiful. I made my reservation at the St. Moritz and am so happy I did. First, the staff, specifically Tom is such a delight to chat with and was so helpful. I called a few times before arriving in Aspen and he gave me so much information. During our stay, the employees at the St.Moritz especially Tom showed patience with all my questions. The hotel, our room was perfect! We stayed in a 2 bedroom with kitchenette room for 3 nights and dorm style room for our last night. They have happy hour from 4 to 6 where they serve wine that was yummy. Another thank you to Tom for finding another room for our last night when we decided to stay an extra day. The heated pool is lovely especially when it snows, my friends and I love taking a dip at night and walking right to our room after. Location: walking distance from downtown which is another plus Overall, I could not have been more impressed about the St. Moritz hotel and staff. I wasn't sure if I would be coming back to Aspen, but the city is beautiful and I'll be staying here again when I come back next year. read more

My two friends and I rented a 1-bedroom condo at St. Moritz this past weekend. It was reasonably priced ($230/nt. including tax) for being conveniently located in downtown Aspen. Pros: 1) Complimentary continental breakfast served in the morning. Coffee, OJ, cereal, yogurt, fruit and hard boiled eggs! 2) Working gas fireplace in the condo. 3) Porch area outside our sliding glass door where we set up a BBQ one night. 4) Free parking, 5) Full kitchen in the condo. Cons: 1) The 3rd person slept on the pullout couch which was in poor shape and not comfortable to sleep on. 2) There were giant ants in our bathroom. 3) Hot tub (aka the pool) was not that hot and officially closes at 8:00 p.m., though the staff turns a blind eye if you pull back a corner of the pool cover to soak after hours. All in all, I would give St. Moritz Lodge a solid four star rating. The front desk staff were very friendly and we were happy with our stay... err, except for the 3rd person who had to sleep on the pullout couch ;) I would definitely recommend St. Moritiz Lodge for those looking for affordable places near Aspen/Snowmass! read more

I thought it would be an interesting experience doing the dormitory/hostel experience. Unfortunately, I ended up with a random creepy roommate who loved to stalk my other friends (like a pedophile) staying in this lodge. The guy at the reception desk assured me that my roommate was not going to "bite." I have to say that he was really creepy older person. He was probably the worst roommate you could have with a CPAP machine (a breathing apparatus that sounds like darth vader), obnoxious grunting noises throughout, loved to leave the window open, very inconsiderate about my space, and would lay stake to the communal bathroom and kitchen by stalking the people in it because it was obvious he didn't have any friends. To add injury to insult, I wrote an email to management about this situation but they never bothered to respond. I would not want someone to room with this person and they obviously don't care about what I think. I'd rather pay more for a room elsewhere. This stay essentially ruined my first and last hostel/dormitory experience. read more

So I booked a room at This lodge 1 week ago and I am really disappointed! I did book a private room with 2 twins and I will post the confirmation receipt and Wendy downgrades me to a hostel room with one twin so me and my girlfriend had to squize in one twin and we are not to skinny! So I will post pic of the both confirmation email so you can see the difference ! So I paid for a standard room and I got a hostel one which was way cheaper and got no refund! First pic is from when I made the reservation couple of weeks before arriving using my hotel booking discount and the second pic is the one from the reservation date! Wendy was horrible for doing that! We couldn't speak with a manager bcuz he was off during the weekend and we left early before he started the shift on Monday! read more

FREE BREAKFAST (not the biggest selection but it's self serve so it's plenty!!!) beds are comfy and clean, cannot complain against the bathroom either, good hot shower, mouthwash, soap, razors even. Came here in the fall of 2016 and had an amazing time. The staff was so accommodating! We got stuck in a snow storm in southern CO and we were afraid that we would loose one night of our 2 night stay... nope, they just moved the reservation over and didn't charge us a dime to do so. My wife and I stayed in a private room and it was a great deal compared to other hotels in the area. The room was a little drab, but for what the room lacks they made up for in the coziness of the lobby, the free breakfast, afternoon snacks, and convenient location. My wife and I love hiking and it was so easy to hit up the trails behind the parking lot for some stellar views. read more

We were in town for a hockey tournament and the location of this hotel was perfect. It was a 5 minute drive from one of the rinks and a 1 minute walk from the other one. It was also walking distance to restaurants and shopping. The heated pool was awesome for the kids. The only complaints I have was the loose boards on the outside stairs and walkway to our room made it feel very unstable. The breakfast area did not accommodate large groups at one time. Meh. Not great, but given the price, it is suitable. I'm here only for two nights and thankfully, the room was all mine! Paid for the shared room, but because it's off season, no one else is here. Score! But it was a damn popsicle. The heat didn't work and the room was 52 degrees (said the temp. gauge). I asked the front desk guy how to fix it and he said he would switch boilers and get it warmed up. Great. I was heading out, and just trusted it would be fixed. Nope. When I came back the front desk was boarded up (closed) and my room? Still freezing. At this time is was 50 degrees. The guy just left and the solution was, oh well, can't fix it. C'mon. I know this isn't the Hilton, but, really? Unacceptable. There is no double lock on the door, which, in a hostel, I would like. There is a remnant of a deadbolt, but it's broken. No "lock" part, so it's useless. Otherwise: - awesome location - clean bathrooms (I like that there are separate womens and mens restrooms) - refrigerator in the rooms. Nice for travelers - free wifi - free long distance U.S. calls - only a few parking spots, but for me it wasn't a problem (it's off season) - no idea about breakfast (it was never offered/mentioned) read more

This place is pretty "rustic" and the breakfast in the morning is sloppy. Milk and juices not on ice, waffles thawing on a plate, not a very good selection. It was also very loud. For the price and location, the 4 stars make up for these things. read more

My friends and I stayed in a regular room - not the dorm. We'd just come back from 4 days backpacking, and I was thrilled to see complimentary cookies and fruit punch in the lobby, and also wine that you could take by the pool. Our room was very clean and cute (nothing like those typical frumpy hotel blankets), and close to the center of Aspen. The pool was heated - I didn't try it, but it was pretty warm, which is nice for cool summer nights. I guess prices are really high in Aspen, but for 3 of us we got a really good deal. I would definitely come back here again. All the staff we talked to were really helpful and friendly. read more

I stayed here in early November a few years back when traveling cross-country and thought it was an excellent place. There is a hostel downstairs where people played piano, etc... but I got one of the rooms and found it to be very cozy. I liked how they had a mattress and pillows set up on the window sill. It makes it convenient to read books in natural daylight or to bum around watching TV. It is also within walking distance of downtown Aspen which made it nice. The prices were good since it was in the transitional season between fall and winter. read more

I stayed here for 2 nights (room with two queen beds). It's billed as a suite because of the kitchenette (small sink and 2 electric plates) however I'm calling that a stretch. Joel, is the manager and proprietor (?). He is a very nice and helpful gentleman. Breakfast is downstairs and nothing special. I would expect more for establishment in Aspen (and more because of the price per night). Our room had dirt/smudge/bootprint on the sheet and a hole near the top. Not worth complaining about to Joel, but fits in with the rest of the place. An ok place to crash but hardly a "get away". Oh and the hot tub (100f pool) closes at 8p, WTF. read more

This is a reasonably clean and totally safe hostel. No frills whatsoever, but the price can't be beat. I stayed in one of their shared rooms with 5 beds for $42/night in 2011. There is no confusing this place with even a 1* hotel, but if you're in town looking for a cheap place that's close to downtown Aspen, you can't beat this place. I wish they had more than 1 shower on the floor (though I rarely had to wait), I wish that the toilet stalls were a bit wider, I wish the mattresses were slightly less musty. But for 1/7th the price of a mid-ranged hotel, you get what you can take. read more

Ok, I'm typically a little spoiled when I stay at hotels. However, lately I've been on a budget and squeezing in my stomach to tighten my belt. After staying at The Grand Vista in Grand Junction, CO, where I stayed at twice the usual rate, UGH! I decided I would stay in Aspen after my daughters recital and avoid the 2 hour drive back down the mountains. Hotels are typically expensive in aspen, even during the off season so I was worried I'd burn my spending money on a half ass room. After searching the web and reading reviews I choose to chance my stay at a hotel/hostel named St. Mortiz. I called and spoke to the coolest sounding gal with a great attitude. She gave me the run down of the place and cost and didn't sound offended when I said, "okay, thanks, I'm still checking around and I'll call back". ...And I did call back. Heck the price was 1/2 of the next lowest, it was only a few extra blocks from the bars and everyone seemed dry or bored. I called back and booked the room, not a hostel type, a regular room. I arrived a little early to Ms nice gal as the host. Still just as cool and friendly in person as over the phone. ((sorry I don't remember your name. I'm terrible with names)) So checking in was quick and easy, the room warm and clean with a great shower, the ground nice and the building, though older, still well kept. Skiers, hikers, rafters, adventures dream on a low budget. Gal was also kind enough to get me a map and mark where the local watering holes were and find out who was open. Hence the review below for Red Onion...it was open. Thanks St Mortiz, see you next visit. read more
