So good to know you guys are on top of your reviews; not sure that will impress people (that it took 8 years). I had actually forgotten about this stay by the time you responded, so looking over my review and remembering my experience I can't imagine why I gave you 2 stars. I still remember the air handler kicking on in the middle of the night and count this room as the worst I've ever stayed in (including the room I rented one time next to the elevator machine room). This is an excellent, affordable hotel that's in easy walking distance (10 minutes) to downtown. Although some of aspects of the rooms can use an update (bathrooms, rugs), the rooms are very clean, the TVs are new, and in-house customer service is excellent. The breakfast is REALLY GOOD - juices, yogurt, breads, fantastic coffee, cereals, fresh fruit, and more. The views aren't that great, but who cares about that, really? You're in Aspen, so go outside and see the mountains face to face!! read more

Great location, friendly staff, nice view, comfortable bed! I opted for an upgraded larger room on the top floor to avoid any possible variables such as a loud upstairs neighbor with ski boots on, etc. It was a good move. Very quiet in my room and got a wonderful sleep with the premium linens and nice pillows. Great breakfast too. Even though it was a delivered to your door brown bag breakfast, they had Jimmy Dean ham/egg/cheese sandwiches, apple/banana, orange juice, nature valley granola bar, and a a delicious large chocolate muffin. The view from the patio balcony was gorgeous. Large, spacious room with a king bed, couch, microwave, large TV, and large refrigerator. I think most of the rooms are smaller than this and I had to pay a little more but it was worth it. There are inner facing rooms nearer check in and on the ground level that are more affordable but I don't think they come with a patio and are probably pull in a little noise from people walking by. The staff here was so welcoming and friendly. The location is perfect - it took me 10 minutes to leisurely walk to downtown Aspen. The bus stop to all the mountains is a mere 2 blocks walk. Also, the city offers a feee Uber like car transportation - download the Aspen "Downtowner" app and that'll get you a ride from about 8am-11pm to anywhere in Aspen. Super awesome. The service was above and beyond...special shoutout to Ruben, who made our experience extra special...some examples include walking outside to help us with parking, carrying our bags, giving us directions and local news, and an extension cord so I could sit and read by the fire...they even have lots of coffee and tea out all day with a happy hour on the weekends! read more

Budget friendly hotel with great amenities. They had a happy hour event our first night where we were served complimentary wine. They also served breakfast every morning with amazing vegan options. The rooms are dated but we found the service of staff to be exceptional. They accommodated early check in and were able to store our bags the morning of check out so we could continue exploring Aspen. The room we selected had a bathtub which was a nice surprise. The photos really need to be redone for each room to better understand what the room looks like. The guests during our stay were quiet in the lobby so we did not struggle much with sleeping. However, the rooms are not well insulated from noise and one rude group in the lobby could easily ruin every other guest's sleep. read more

I booked four nights here. My flight to Aspen was cancelled and could not be rebooked for several days, so I had to cancel my trip. Aspen Mountain Lodge (it is actually managed by Vacasa) charged me in full for all four nights. I would say beware, since this policy is much more rigid than most hotels. You need to cancel 30 days out, or be charged in full. Personally, I do not think this is fair or reasonable. Obviously many people might need to cancel inside 30 days. read more

The staff at this hotel are rude and inefficient communicators. I booked a 3-night stay through booking.com only to received the following message from them via booking.com: "We do not have availability for this reservations., Was booked when no availability. Was a warning in our system. We will not be holding a room for this guest or paying for accommodations elsewhere." No apology or any sentiment of good customer service. I contacted booking.com within 15 minutes of receiving this message from Aspen Mountain Lodge and they tried to contact the hotel directly. No response. They sent an email. No response from AML. They called again, AML asked to call back before 3pm the next day. Booking.com called again, no response. After reading other reviews of how poorly the staff treated guests in-person, or other examples of booking errors on the hotel's end, and now with this experience, I will never try to stay here and will actively tell others to avoid this hotel. It may be one of the "affordable" options in Aspen, but I'd rather stay in Basalt than visit this hotel. read more

Came here from LA for a last minute trip. The place was affordable and so close to town in a perfect location. Lodge is super home-y and has a cute lounge with fireplace downstairs with free breakfast and free happy hour from 5 to 6 PM every night. The concierge named Rubin was so helpful and sweet and helped us make reservations and organized transportation to the airport. The rooms are in need of updating but when you are here you don't even spend time in your room because there is so much to do. The lodge is conveniently located near multiple bus stop that can take you all over town for free. Overall the places super cute, charming, and extremely convenient to whoever you need to go to an Aspen I will definitely be coming back. read more

parking lot completely covered in black ice and there are no lights up. No way to navigate around it - wife fell and fractured elbow , plate and 4 screws. Heartless managers reply "we try, you just have to be careful around here in the snow". Numerous similar kind of posts about lack of empathy from management. This ice was not cleared even after this disaster and i nearly fell when going back to airport again. its not just about the bad quality , its dangerous to go there esp at night. read more

Aspen Mountain Lodge cancelled the reservation I made a month ago, two weeks before I was due to arrive. "We are no longer able to accommodate you due to a technical issue." They didn't respond to phone calls or emails inquiring why. read more

The hotel manager and housekeeping staff are so wonderful. It made the experience at Aspen Mountain Lodge perfect. It's an amazing place for dogs too! They took such good care of Milo, my cavapoo. They even kept him at the front desk with them when we went kayaking. They put so much love and care into their work. I'm so grateful for their kindness to Milo. I would highly recommend this hotel for people who love traveling with their dogs! read more

We had a two night stay planned at this business at $247 per night. When we arrived, we were told our room was on the FOURTH floor. That sounded nice until I was told they DIDN'T have an elevator. I'm a little older, 60's, but I probably could carry the bags up three flights of stairs. At $247 a night I didn't feel I should have to. The charge to our credit card was reversed and we left. We ended up at the Westin hotel in Snowmass for the same price. The hotel was modern (elevator) and was great. read more

Be careful when you book a room. When I got there, I was stuck in a basement with only a small window with a view of a retaining wall with gravel at eye level. Staff gave me no options. In my life, I never had a basement room with no other choice. read more

1/5 This lodge jumped to conclusions and wrote me a nasty email via booking.com before hearing my account. I wouldn't recommend staying here if you have physical limitations or show up with a same sex companion! When we walked up to the desk for check we were greeted with indifference. Your employee treated us like we were second class citizens. I can only assume she thought we were gay! That in itself is disturbing. Is this how she treats gay couples that visit your establishment? She had no respect for us. Before going for our bags I asked if they had another entrance that did not have stairs? Your employee stated "Yes but you can't use those"! So we went out to get our bags. We attempted to get in the door that has no stop on it to keep it open. The door sprung back and hit my companion in the face. At that time she did yell a cuss word in response. Finally getting through the door and up the steps to the front desk we asked about an elevator to our floor? Your employee yelled at us stating they didn't have an elevator and if we didn't like it we could go somewhere else. She informed us that we would not find a place that would take "US"! My companion got really upset. I asked her to just go up the stairs and I would address this employee attitude in a review. That is when your employee yelled out to us that if we didn't shut our mouths she would call the cops! At this point I figured it would just be easier to ignore your employee and go to our room because it was too late to find another place to stay! We had an uneventful evening after that. We could hear your employee yelling at other people checking in. We checked out in the morning with a different employee without incident. Later that day I get an email from your company telling me I'm not welcome in your place?! Well I can tell you I have never been treated so horribly by anyone in a lodge or hotel that I've stayed in! Your employee thought we were gay and treated us like inferior individuals! This is totally unacceptable! I will make sure others know they will be treated this way if they stay at your place! Stayed in the summer so we had plenty of unused community rooms to relax, in addition to the actual room. Nice, clean, comfortable beds and very reasonably priced. Thoughtfully designed room and furniture with two sinks, ski boot rack, dimmable nightlight for bathroom and more. Only 2 blocks to the park with free city bicycles and just a few more blocks into town. Hot tub, easy parking (summer?) is included (a real treat!), friendly staff, Continental breakfast too. I stayed here one night since my flights were cancelled. Everything was clean in the room. The only thing that was annoying was that they were doing snow shoveling at like 4am in the parking lot behind my room so it was super annoying with headlights shining into my room even with the curtains closed. It felt like it was morning. But I'm guessing that's just what they have to do. Otherwise the place is really nice. I guess they serve breakfast but I didn't have a chance to try it. read more

I stayed there this week and enjoyed it quite a bit. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and spacious. The room temperature was perfect despite brutally cold weather outdoors. The bed was comfortable, the appliances all worked, and there was a desk in my room with an ample charging station for all my electronics. I was surprised by how good the wifi and cell signal is. (sometimes hard to come by in a mountain region.) As others have noted, you can hear through the walls, but it was no different than any other hotel I've ever stayed at. (and I've stayed at many fine places.) I'm normally somewhat introverted, but loved the daily apres-ski with free wine, cheese, and other goodies; and mingling with strangers was unexpectedly easy - probably because everyone was in such a good mood! Complimentary breakfasts were enjoyable too- eggs, bagels and lox, hot and cold cereals, fruits, pastries, orange juice, coffee and other hot beverages... good variety and yummy! The downstairs lodge sitting area is warm and inviting; comfy places to sit by the large fireplace made it feel like I was a guest in someone's lovely home. The price was surprisingly affordable. Definitely a great value for Aspen, which can be quite expensive. read more

The room was clean but wasn't comfortable. When we entered, it was uncomfortably warm and the window unit didn't really cool it down, which is why there was an oscillating fan in there. The linens were clean but the mattress was terrible (and I spent 2 years in the Peace Corps so I know terrible). So, we didn't get any sleep. If you want to stay in a clean, quiet, affordable motel near downtown Aspen, this place fits the bill. There's adequate parking and complimentary breakfast and Happy Hour daily. The only reasons this is a 3-star review and not a 4-star: 1) There was an unidentifiable odor in our room that permeated all of our belongings (even though the room was spacious, well-ventilated and clean); 2) After checking out and returning home, we realized we'd inadvertently left a couple of items in the closet. It took several phone calls (without return calls from the management), empty promises and 3 1/2 weeks before we finally received our property in the mail from them. They did, however, ship the package free of charge (even though we offered to pay for it), so that did help compensate for how long it took to receive it. All in all, though, we had a great stay at the motel and would come back again! read more

Let me preface this by saying we ended up needing to stay in Aspen by accident when our rental car broke down 2/3 of the way up Independence Pass. After a NIGHTMARE trying to get a replacement rental, the obvious empathy and care we received at Aspen Mountain Lodge was just what the doctor ordered. We needed to hang out past check in while the rental car situation was handled and we waited for a car and Allison at the front desk was super understanding and let us stay without charging us extra. She also gave us a $25 gift card for us to grab lunch with and told us to try and make the best out of a crappy situation. It felt great to be treated like a fellow human and not like an opportunity to make some more money. Allison also offered to follow us to the airport in our half broken down rental to make sure we were safe if it broke down again. This type of service is rare these days and we were more than appreciative. The amenities are nice and the hotel is fairly basic, but when it's staffed with people who actually care about your well being this much, that stuff doesn't matter as much. I would choose to stay here again any time I am in Aspen, whether on accident or on purpose. read more

Hotel was very clean. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast lacked as there was no protein other than boiled eggs and canned salmon. The rooms are outdated but very clean none the less. Heaters and jacuzzi tubs work great and the beds were comfortable. From 4:30-5:30 they offer a whine and cheese snack downstairs which we didn't try but it's a nice thought. We didn't meet many locals just a bunch of tourists who were all extremely rude. If you are traveling and enjoying life, be kind and courteous to those around you. read more

This hotel was terrific. It is convenient to everything downtown. Even though Aspen has great transportation, we walked everywhere. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. The hotel has terrific coffee that is organic and has great televisions. Breakfast is very nice with a good selection of healthy items. The waffles were delicious. read more

Stayed here about a month ago. Staff was friendly. The room even though a little out dated it was clean. One of the more reasonable priced hotels in the area that I could find last minute. Just a tip make sure you read the cancelation policy before you book because they have a strict cancelation policy. Breakfast is not much but does the trick. read more

We made the reservation sight unseen based on the Orbitz app and location of the hotel relative to downtown Aspen and price. It was the best price in the area. It was a pretty small hotel (only three stories), but it looked nice in the pictures. It was right on main street and easy to find, the first problem was finding somewhere to park. All the parking was taken and there wasn't any parking that seemed available (street parking was only for 2 hours according to signs). So I stopped in the parking lot and went in to ask the clerk. I get in and there is no one at the desk (it is about 8 PM). I call out; no answer. I walk to the center of the atrium calling out; no answer. So I waited for 5 minutes and soon someone walks by and I ask: Is there anyone manning the front desk? They said yes and asked: "Did I check downstairs?" No, so I go downstairs and start shouting is anybody there? Finally, a girl comes out and we get the room. As for parking, we are told to park on the street and ignore the 2 hour sign. Whatever. So, we got room 100 (that is downstairs in the basement). I am sure the other rooms are good, but NEVER rent room 100 at this hotel: it has no natural light because it is in the basement and the room holds the air handler for the entire building. All night long the air handler would kick off to warm the building and it was LOUD. It was like sleeping in your laundry room and setting the dryer on a timer to kick off every 15 minutes. I don't think I slept more than 30 consecutive minutes all night long. The bathroom had no fan, clogged drains, carpet stains and the bed was pretty lumpy. They did have a decent continental breakfast, but no fried eggs and bacon, etc. I guess you get what you pay for, but if you go there, don't pay for room 100! Later - read more

The rooms were clean and the staff very friendly, my complaint was what happened after I left. I had a very early flight and had to leave the hotel at about 5am. No one was working at the desk (understandably) so I left my keys and was on my way. I realized after departing that I left something in the room. Because I left my keys I wasn't able to get back into the locked hotel front door. I left a message on the VM explaining that I thought I left something in the room and if that was the case could I arrange having it returned. Never received a call back. Followed up again, no response. I understand that maybe the item wasn't where I thought it was or even potentially thrown away before they received my messages, but the fact that I never received any return call or email to let me know they couldn't help me is pretty inconsiderate. read more

I stayed here for two nights this fall and had a great expereince. We got in around 9pm and the lady at the front desk was MORE than helpful. Told us every place to go, what was good, where not to go, when to get to the Maroon Bells, etc. The room was much larger than I had expected with a hallway to the balcony and a sitting area with a couch. While the breakfast has slim options, at least they had something for us. They only complaints that I have about the place is that we could often hear the people above us walking around and such, and also that the hot tub was VERY dirty. I would come back here again, but wouldn't count on using the hot tub and would ask to be on the top floor. read more

Very reasonable (check the website for specials - we received a third night free), comfortable, close to downtown, friendly and helpful staff (well, there was one disaffected front desk clerk, who was not unfriendly, just sort of bland). The breakfast was sufficient (though ran out early). There was definitely some noise transfer between the ceiling above us and our room that was intrusive at times, but not terrible. We were on the way to Aspen, and the road conditions did not look favorable for a same day trip and we didnt even pack any extra clothes, good thing I had my AAA Utah/Colorado Tourbook, so as my friend drove I kept calling around different hotels to get the prices, everyone else was quoting like $300 per night. So I ended up getting to call the Aspen Mountain Lodge, we got quoted a special rate for the last Garden Room which was a half story below the lobby, $169 + $20 for 2 extra friends for a one bedroom 2 queen bed room. Room was very nice tidy and warm, they also had an all-you-can-eat/drink wine and cheese bar with hot chicken noodle soup, different cheese, fruits, red wine, white wine, etc. And all day and night long they had a numerous variety of teas, apple cider, hot chocolate with a hot water dispenser. The breakfast was quite great from 7:30 - 9:30. Cereal, breads, fruits, hard boiled eggs, cranberry and orange juice, milk, coffee. This place was very homey and hospitable, 5 STARS! read more

Quiet, friendly, clean. Fairly spacious room. Nice, airy lobby. It's reasonably affordable by downtown Aspen standards. There's a small pool but it's along the main street (visually protected by a fence, but load traffic and not particularly relaxing. Staff was friendly. Overall I'd say this pleasant and functional. We needed one night in Aspen over a busy holiday weekend. This was the only place I could find that would take 1 night and our puppies. When we arrived, granted it was a couple hours before check in time, we were greeted by the most rude deskworker I have ever encountered at a hotel. She also told us our room wouldn't be ready for awhile. Her manager walked us right into a room with no wait. The rooms itself was less that clean. We found rotten food on the floor around the bed. My girlfriend went to use the Jacuzzi tub and it seemed as if it hadn't been ran in years due to the dirt and hair which came out of the jets. I would not stay here again. I would have been better off at the Best Western in Basalt. read more
