Today I was told that they are busy and to leave a voicemail next time. I left a voicemail last week before closing about my aligners. ONE WEEK could shift my teeth in the wrong direction & if they are too busy to call back - why don't they find a more effective way to take care of their #1- oh yeah, the customers. Another time, I switched insurance and my insurance covered two cleanings per year. My gosh the amount of times I called the dentist and my insurance back and forth for a cleaning.... I just saw other Yelp reviews today, but have been coming for cleanings past year or more. I do like Dr Alex Portnoy (sp?) and most of the dental staff. Dr Alex takes the time to explain everything in detail and I enjoy the conversations between the staff during cleanings. It's the worst when i can feel tension between coworkers. Dr Robert (Bob) the orthodontist- also nice, however I got aligners and the past 5 weeks have been a hell of a struggle for a new patient. I have been on Google searching for answers, tips for newbies and ways to help get through the pain. I had zero idea what to expect...no one at the office answered the phone & I felt stranded with $7k bill and no help.

The…read morefront desk staff did not look at me until I spoke first, and one woman spoke to me in an aggressive and rude manner. My name was not on the list, even though I had made an appointment in advance. She then rudely asked why I came at all and what the purpose of my visit was, even though everything had already been explained when I booked the appointment. I only came for a simple check-up and one filling. Because of this disrespectful attitude, I decided to leave without receiving any service. I hope the clinic improves its customer service. I understand that misunderstandings can happen, but please improve your communication with patients first of all. Also, please make sure that the person who schedules appointments explains everything clearly from the beginning, instead of saying "yes, of course, everything will be done" and that the insurance is accepted. After I spent a lot of my time coming to your clinic, I was spoken to in a disrespectful tone and made to feel as if I had no reason to be there. I also work in customer service, and I would never allow myself to speak to clients in such a disrespectful way.

    A good friend of mine highly recommended Dr. Peklin. I recommend that you don't ask your friend for…read morerecommendations because this proved to put a rift in our friendship. Bluntly put, I've seen twenty dentists in my lifetime, and Dr. Peklin ranks last. He lacks knowledge, compassion, and patience. I had extreme sensitivity and pain to cold in the bottom right-hand side of my mouth. Dr. Peklin decided I needed a widom tooth to be filled. I asked him if we should just pull it, and he said No. So he removed the decay and packed the hole with a medication and told me to come back in a few months. I was still experiencing pain and sensitivity when I returned, but he went ahead and filled the tooth. I continued to experience sensitivity and pain over the next few months, so I went back to Dr. Peklin. He said I was "too sensitive" and he sprayed some awful chemical over the tooth. It helped for a few weeks, but the pain and sensitivity returned. I finally decided to see a different dentist. The dentist took an x-ray of my wisdom tooth and asked me why I didn't have it pulled earlier. I told him about Dr. Peklin and he looked confused. I called Dr. Peklin to ask for an appointment to have the tooth pulled, but he became irate and belligerent. He said, "Should I pull all of your teeth, too?" A few weeks later, I had the tooth pulled by an oral surgeon and I haven't had any problems since.

His knowledge, experience and personal attention to his patients is second only to his dedication to save you from suffering ( who of us didn't experienced a toothache ) I have had a good share of Dentists in my life, most of them are good, no doubt. But I stay with Dr.Peklin. He is great!!! I highly recommend him as very knowledgable, skilled and caring dentist. What else can you ask from you doctor?

    I recently visited NorthShore dental and my experience has been horrible…read more My appointment was set for 10 am and i reached at 945am as it was my first time in this facility. So i completed the formalities and waited...Waited..waited and waited till 1015 after which i asked when i was going to be seen. I was informed that my appointment is at 10:30am and should be coming up soon. That was the first time i got to know that my appointment time was changed and i wasnt even informed on that. However, anyways i had no other option but to wait and finally at around 10:50am i was called inside. So essentially i waited an hour before i was seen. Dr. Vernoski was my doctor and as soon as he looked at me, he asked me if we are doing Xray today as i am pregnant. I said No. He made a very weird face and mentioned that "i should have come before i became pregnant. Without X Ray he cannot do anything and its only the 30% of what he will know whats going on". That was the memorial day weekend and i felt that his X ray money was out of the window and he got very annoyed looking at me. Somehow i maintained my cool and said "thats the precise reason i am visiting dentist to make sure i dont have major issue which you may get while being pregnant. He started with the floss and kept saying that he doesnt have time to teach me how to floss, though I never asked for it. My gums were bleeding because of this pregnancy and i was in pain and thats why i was visiting the dentist. 3 mins in floss and another 5 mins in cleaning the teeth with the manual tool and thats it. I am done with the annual cleaning. I have visited many dentists in the past and never ever experienced some thing like this where not more than 8 mins were spent on cleaning. Another 5 mins of polishing and i was out by 11 am. So i spent more time waiting and less time on the chair with all kinds of blabbering from the doctor. Although he gave me a tip on how to take care of my teeth during this time but it was a horrible experience. Will never ever come back again.

I had a MUCH better experience and even saved over $1500 in unnecessary procedures. The doctor was very knowledgeable and explained every step of the process. The office seems to be equipped with state of the art technology. The team is friendly, organized and professional. Beyond that, they take a genuine approach to getting to know you. If you are looking for the best dentist office - look no further!

    I saw Dmitri Sokol for a consultation. During that visit, he took photographs with his camera and…read moreshowed me images he claimed were of my teeth. The images showed black lines on top of the teeth, a food pocket along the gumline, and a leaking silver filling on one tooth. I was immediately alarmed because I spend a significant amount of time and energy on my dental hygiene. These images did not match what I expected to see given how carefully I care for my teeth. Based on these images, he told me that the leaking silver filling indicated a cavity underneath and that I could lose my tooth if I did not have it replaced. I agreed to have the silver filling on my tooth replaced. Even though he had an x-ray, once he began drilling, he told me he had discovered a "crack" in the tooth. He then proceeded to perform a partial crown (onlay) instead of replacing the filling--which is what I agreed to. I walked in expecting a simple filling replacement. I walked out with a $2,138 partial crown that I never consented to. The black lines and food pocket he had shown me during the first visit were never mentioned again. Instead, he recommended that I get two crowns on two other teeth. I requested copies of the specific images he showed me during that first visit--the leaking silver filling, the black lines on top of the teeth, and the food pocket along the gumline. His office sent me other photos, but not those. When I asked again, they stopped responding. Given that they refused to provide these images, I have no way of knowing if the silver filling was actually leaking. I believe it was not. If it had been, they would have sent me the picture. I then saw another dentist for a second opinion. That dentist confirmed there are no black lines on my teeth. There is no food pocket. Based on the x-ray, there was no evidence indicating that the silver filling had leaked. Regarding the alleged crack discovered during drilling, the second dentist told me this was highly unlikely given that Dmitri Sokol had an x-ray of the tooth before starting the procedure. A crack large enough to require changing the procedure from a simple filling replacement to a partial crown should have been detectable with proper diagnostic tools. The two crowns he recommended were also not needed. The images Dmitri Sokol showed me were not of my teeth. They were used to create fear and urgency to justify work that was not needed. I am sharing this to warn others: get a second opinion before agreeing to any procedure recommended by this office.
