Great for a quick meal..Spicy peanut and the Teriyaki noodles are excellent..Spice levels are high..order spice level 1 below what you think you can handle..even Mild has a little kick to it

Let's start with the average rating of 3 stars for the Douglas Location out of 57 reviews. As a two year Elite Yelper, it give me pause before entering, but being the maverick that I am, I went in anyways with my wife. I am confident in saying that the Noodlebox experience was most likely our best food experience in Victoria, BC. and yes, we did visit, Red Fish, Blue Fish, 4.5 Stars, 597 Reviews, ( Review Pending ), and The Keg Steakhouse, 4.5 Stars, 68 Reviews, ( Review Pending) and Chorizo & Co. 4.5 Stars, 32 Reviews, ( Review Pending ). So, how does Noodlebox beat the big guys? Simple, They do what they do better. (1) Let's start with the interior. Simple, Sleek, Good use of lighting and plants. (2) Service. Cat was amazing. She's truly an ambassador of Noodlebox. No question to hard, and no request to difficult. (3) Quality. Some of the best noodles and flavors PERIOD, and I have eaten in the SF Bay Area. We ordered the Thai Noodle Box Medium Spicy with Chicken. The other reviews stated that there was no meat or little meat. That was not our experience or the experience of the diners at this location. As for the music is was evenly paced and at the right level. My wife has a peanut allergen and Cat was very thoughtful and understanding. She made the appropriate notes and then asked if we wanted to share our bowl. We said sure, and she said, " Great, I'll have the kitchen split the portions. " We helped ourselves to some waters and while we were waiting, the fragrances and flavors were galloping out of the kitchen and into the dinning area. You could smell the sweetness of the basil, and piercing onions as well as the powerful chilies. Cat, called my name and I picked up the bowls and delivered them to our table. One customer was outside, and Cat scooped out his togo orders and brought it out to him and give him a big smile and a friendly wave. It was all genuine and flawless. Our bowls were beautiful and for me, the test is how well does all the ingredients mesh together. The fatal flaw with a dish like this and others is that one ingredient overpowers the others and you don't have a party in your mouth but one loudmouth flavor that you wished went away as quickly as he came. This was not the case. The bowl was a beautifully orchestrated symphony of flavors all in balance. Truly was an amazing meal. If you are visiting Victoria, or Canada, please look out for Noodlebox and give them a try, it will be worth it.

Black bean n garlic

My third time in Victoria and I never went out to eat! We were walking around the chilly streets on a Sunday night looking for something good to eat and stumbled upon Noodlebox. Asian fusion? NOODLES? Sold. BLACK BEAN AND GARLIC - My first impression on reading this bowl was the korean black bean noodles zazangmyeon. The noodles in this bowl was a juicy thick chow mein noodle with the TASTE of the black bean zazangmyeon but definitely not the looks of it. It had a sweet but garlicky umph to it, and I definitely enjoyed this one. PANANG CURRY - Red panang curry...and noodles?!? Never even HEARD of this combo before. The staff was very according for me and told me I could substitute the meat for more veggies, which I opted for! (Rather than choosing tofu as the protein). It came out smelling like absolute bliss. AND it was straight STEAMING both temperature and spicy-wise. I only got the medium/mild and it was at the spice level where it's bearable but your lips would start burning after a while. These noodles were moreso the flat gummy-ish rice noodles that you typically see in pad thai dishes. SO. GOOD. I read a previous review where they said it was too salty but i didnt think so! I only ate half and finished the other half for breakfast the following morning with a side of rice! Mmmm donut judge me. KUNG PAO - everytime i see the combo of the words kung pao I IMMEDIATELY think spicy chinese chicken with sweet chili peanut sauce. My brother got this one and scarfed it down without even letting me swipe a couple bites of the noodles! The flavor in this is definitely there, medium/ mild spicy level is perfect. The noodles are the same as the black bean noodle dish. A thumbs up for me! SINGAPORE - these noodles reminded me of fettichine type of noodles. It came out in a green curry sauce and although I feel that I cant really be the judge of this since ive never had singaporean curry before, it was still very good! Quite different though from other curries ive tasted. (Honestly in my opinion, the panang curry I got was much better) AND there you have it! Victoria definitely impressed me with this one! I wonder if this is a chain around canada or just in British Columbia. Either way, i would become a regular if this asian fusion idea ever came to the bay! Youll be seeing me back next time im there!

Tom Yum Soup

Its raining, its poring, the old stomach is snoring Ahhh Victoria in November, rain and more rain, and im cold to the bone. I have been craving a noodle bowl for days now. I take the suggestion of local Victorian Randall Carnell and hop on over to NoodleBox. I asked the server what he recommended, without hesitation he recommended the Tom Yum Soup, damm straight it was yummy! Large portions, great complex hot flavors, fresh shrimp (choice of protein) and adorned with a little bean sprouts and lime wedges. It hit the spot, I would return again and again!

Kung Pad w/ prawns. HOT

This restaurant was recommended to us for its gluten free menu ootions and it didn't disappoint…read more We were a party of 3, our youngest son and myself are very sensitive celiacs and the food passed the test with flying colours. My wife is not, and she enjoyed the food immensely. Delicious choices, fast and attentive service. We'll be back.

We were coming to the end of our 22-day cruise to Alaska and had been dying for some Chinese food…read more The reviews on yelp for J & J appeared to be pretty good so we decided to go for a walk. Another yelper stated that "it's not the most authentic Chinese food you'll come across...". While he goes on to say that "by Victoria standards, it's up there... I'll take this moment to give him food for thought. My best friend is Chinese. I'm Chinese. Our grandmothers and our mothers made wonton for us at home. I, on the rare occasion, will wrap my own wonton. None of the five wontons we make will taste the same because we use different ingredients or the same ingredients in different measures. That does not make any of our wontons less than authentic than the others. We entered and were immediately greeted. We were directed to a four-top and presented with menus and water and/or tea. We perused the menu and decided to go with: Pan Fried Pot Stickers - 5 - They're not on the lunch menu but they are available. Shanghai Thick Noodles - 5 - A wonderful plate of deliciousness. Wor Wonton with Mixed Wonton - 5 - A simple clean bowl of Wor Wonton. They offer Pork or Shrimp or Mixed. I was hoping that Mixed had both Pork AND shrimp in them but that would force them to wrap three different styles instead of two. I ordered the Mixed just to compare the flavors. Both were delicious. On a subsequent visit, I would want to try their Hot & Sour Soup with 12 Shrimp Won Ton added. Service was quick and courteous. I'm sorry that we don't live closer but there are many excellent Chinese restaurants where we live too.

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE 3.5 stars: it's decent and a nice…read morechange of pace from the rest of the food court. Quality along Japanese cuisine lines however, faces stiff competition from the nearby Hiro Sushi Xpress, which is arguably higher in every regard. === 2. FOOD Chicken Teriyaki ($11.95): With your choice of white or brown rice, you get diced chicken with 0 to 2 scoops of teriyaki sauce and a variety of griddle-fried, chopped vegetables: broccoli, cabbage, and carrots. Adding $4.50 makes any meal a "bento", where you can choose two sides; I happened to choose a 4-piece California Roll and 2-pieces of shrimp tempura. The food is fine, but the nearby Hiro Sushi Xpress just a couple of shops down from the food court seems to have higher quality food in all regards: better chicken, better veg, better California rolls, etc. === 3. SERVICE The service seems fine; the food is served relatively quick. However, who you get serving you seems to be one of two cooks at the griddle and there's no number for your order, just callouts of food. Choosing a popular dish like teriyaki chicken is something that prompts multiple people to step forward, which can cause confusion. Water is available self-serve with plastic cups at the end of the kiosk. === 4. ENVIRONMENT Bring one, bring all to the Hillside Centre food court: big, bright, and open, it's good room for everyone and their wheelchairs and baby strollers, if you have them. Parking is also easy to get in the spacious mall lot outside.
