We ordered 3 noodle soup bowls. Noodles were soggy, meats were dry and stringy. Soup were tasty though. Very disappointed. The Smashed Cucumber dressed in Garlic Sauce appetizer is about the best dish tonight. Place is a bit dingy, something I would overlook if food is good. Unfortunately both food and ambience failed tremendously.

This was good enough for 2 meals or 2 people. Decor is kinda divvy Chinese which is actually my favourite type LOL. Watching chefs in action serves as built-in entertainment while fostering a deeper appreciation for the culinary craftsmanship Ordered their most popular A1 Signature Beef Noodle Soup 招牌牛肉面 which instantly felt familiar and comforting. Oh was it delicious! The thinly sliced beef shank and daikon was a perfect combo. I ordered the #7 noodle which came highly recommended was chewy and al dente. It was no surprise to learn that the chef was from Lanzhou, the home of hand pulled noodles. Side dishes were also delicious. I highly recommend this place. The one thing I didn't expect (although I really should've) was the spice level tbh I didn't know it was spicy until it arrived but I didn't mind it was THE perfect spicy level for me; not too much where I'm crying at the table but just enough that I need to drink something to cool down it was definitely a happy surprise this dish was hot hot hot it came in a pot (but big like a wok) so I had to be extra careful when eating so I wouldn't burn myself. I felt so fancy eating this big dish by myself honestly, nothing to nitpick for me. The noodles were super soft and chewy; the chicken were sliced in a decent size to pick out and the portion was great! It's definitely enough for 2 people to share (I came by myself) or to have leftover for lunch! As I was enjoying my meal, I looked around and just adored the atmosphere. From the Chinese wall paintings to the lanterns hanging from the ceilings to the amazing service I received! I definitely tried to rub it in Mr C's face that he's missing out since he lovesssss when restaurants put in the extra effort to decorate it (he just laughed at me ) but I'm definitely making him come with me next time.

Seven years ago, my…read morefriend raaaaved about this small and quaint northern style Chinese restaurant ran by a lovely Chinese couple but spoke minimal English. I was quite excited as I was able to practice my Mandarin and try some authentic cuisine! I had a short but wonderful chat with the owner at that time and the dumplings were incredible I always longed to go back to try them again but I was told they had closed and moved back to China due to old age. Fast forward seven years later, I realized they're still open! (Or opened again)?? I never thought much about them since I heard about the closing so I never googled so imagine my surprise when Mr C and I walked by their huge poster above the building! I was super stoked to know they are still running their quaint restaurant and got an even wider acknowledgement for their hard work and amazing food Of course, Mr C and I had to stop by to try some of their dumplings again! it's one of the few times that I actually order meat dumplings And just as I remembered, it was perfect. They flipped it upside down when serving so the crispy part is upwards and just makes me drooool these are perfect bite size servings and no additional sauce required! As mentioned, it's still the same couple running the restaurant. The wife does serving, ordering and cashier work while the husband does the cooking in the backz it was absolutely cute seeing their teamwork and also #couplegoals! Okay back to food. I also wanted to try another dish besides dumplings so I got the Noodles with Tianjin Style Sauce. Unfortunately neither Mr C or myself enjoyed it as much but it wasn't bad! I did find the sauce a bit too salty so I had to thoroughly mix it with the noodles and made sure every bite of wood ear 木耳 and eggs had to have some noodles to balance out the flavours. I probably won't order this one again but for sure will try their other dishes Ps. The entrance is actually further to the right (not below the poster) after all, it's a hidden gem so you really gotta look for it!
