Yip Hong's Dim Sum Restaurant - BBQ Pork buns Shrimp rice roll Beef rice roll Shrimp/Eggplant Pork deep fried dumplings - Dim Sum Near Me - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

Simply great food. I was very happy to see this restaurant open up in Saskatoon. I heard they were here before and relocated to this new venue but I never knew they existed before. Typical table to table cart service with a selection of dim sum. I came hungry for lunch with friends and was very impressed. The food was first class and came piping hot. Never had to wait long for a cart of fresh and tempting choices. Clean restaurant and wasn't noisy. Come hungry and come often. read more

Still coming when I'm in town. The food quality is good but, and it's a big BUT, it was all cold except the rice which just came off the steamer. Very disappointing. I'll go back because they have a few dishes I really like but their tip will be reflective. read more

New location and it is BUSY! Typical dim sum menu... but there is not any around so great job capturing a needed clientele... I love that many race was there... not just asians. Modern and casual atmosphere with friendly wait staff and push cart staff to answer any questions on what the dishes are. read more

Came on a day that was not busy. Waited for a single dish for an amount of time much longer than the others and when it arrived it was fairly undercooked. I then asked them to re-cook it and I proceeded to wait another 30 minutes for this dish when there were not many people in the store at the time. Was also not brought hot water when our tea ran out. Very displeasing experience. read more

It was a good place, we came in at late afternoon and it was halfway full. I liked everything quite a bit, except for the steamed barbeque pork buns they were just a little bit boring but all right. The marinated artichokes with shrimp paste; big thumbs up! It's a little bit no-frills with the plastic glasses etc but we felt reasonably well attended to and with the price of $50 for the three of us we all came away full enough. Will go back. read more

The food was good. We have a nice family dinner here. Our son loves the peanut and pork dumplings . He orders 3 servings for himself!

Worst dim sum in town! Make sure to look carefully at your receipt so they won't charge you extra money! For example, they may want to charge you 5 dishes but you only had 4. The service was rude and slow. The quality was of the food was bad. Avoid this place! Try Mandarin Restaurant (20th street) for dim sum instead! read more

Soo rude and unapologetic. This is a long comment but worth reading to the end. I had been a huge fan of Yip Hong on 8th street. After they moved to Stonebridge, It seemed like some of my favorite dishes didn't taste as good. On one of my many visits to Yip Hong, i was asked "how was my meal?" I responded that that a couple of my favorite dishes didn't taste as good. I asked if there was a change in the way they were making those food items. The owner said to me "You're not a regular" He pointed to an Asian man standing behind me and said, "He's a regular!" He continued to repeat to me, "You're not a regular." I felt like he was being racist saying that, because I wasn't Asian, how could i know how the food should taste. After all, I was not a regular. There was no apology for the poor food experience that I had. I didn't expect a discount, i was just responding, honestly and based on my many past experiences, to how the food tasted that day. I have never gone back to Yip Hong since that day and I never will. I won't give any of my money to a business that is soo rude and unapologetic, never mind, borderline, racist! read more

Was itching for some dim sum and steamed buns, and gave this place a try. Very happy with both! Was definitely comparable to some of my favourite places in Vancouver. Will definitely be back! read more

When I visited it was -30 that day, full Covid protocol, & yet it was so very busy, people calling every minute for delivery, but they refused20-30 people in the restaurant for hours, no one touches a menu, scan the QR code to order & retreat to yr car. I had to to wait near 45 mins, but it was so worth the wait with the tasty food, I ordered 3 dishes & enjoyed all! read more

The Peking duck we ordered was obviously not fresh and had a black colour unlike any I have seen before, across Canada and in China. Keep in mind that the dish costed us $48! The spicy fried chicken was also in a similar condition. This of course could have been salvaged with an apology and refund from the owner but he was very rude and didn't do anything to make our experience better. We ended up barely touching the Peking duck and only packing a little for our dog. I would rate this 0 stars if I could. This comes without saying but we will never come here again! read more

Yip Hong's Dim Sum Restaurant - Disgusting old black Peking duck - Dim Sum Near Me - Saskatoon, Saskatchewan

This appears to be a lovely new restaurant off circle at Preston; a reincarnation of their former location I think. The place had maybe five or six tables filled on a Friday night at suppertime, however, which should have been the first clue. Given the restaurant name, we came for the dim sum. One cart with the same dozen items came around six or seven times, however. The shrimp in many of the dishes we got had not been deveined properly, which was off-putting. And some items were barely warm - like they had been sitting there for awhile. The food was ok but quite salty. We asked if they use MSG and they do, both in the products they buy and added to the food. The service was also poor; though there were few customers and at least 4-5 servers, none of our plates got cleaned off the table for the entirety of our meal, nor was the water refilled. Neither was it cheap. 6 items set us back over $35. Had the food been great, the service stellar, maybe. But as it is, we won't be back. read more

I lived on the international floor of the dorms (it was the only opening near the building where the department for my major was) when I was at the university and there were a lot of Malaysians there. They taught me what good Chinese food is supposed to taste like and this is both very authentic and delicious. I'm very fussy! read more
