Okay. We should've come sooner. This is the best burger and chicken sando I've had in a looonnnggg time. Dare I say... better than In- N - Out! My kids loved it, the hubby loved it, I loved it. 5/5. The staff were friendly and the milk shakes were on point. Mine was spiked and it made me happy all day. That chicken sando though. Wow. Perfectly balanced with a carrot slaw and just a touch of chili oil to get a sizzle all held together with a decadent brioche bun. Voila! So delicious! I had a bite of hubby's burger and it was melt in your mouth awesome. I secretly love it when a restaurant has a small menu. I always hope it means they do a few things really well. Nonla lived up to all my expectations. Fast, but leisurely in the inviting diner atmosphere. The kids enjoyed asking me for $$ to play the games. Luckily, they were all winners. Originating in Kalamazoo, Nonla Burger's Bridge Street location in GR is super popular. Their specialties are crispy chicken sandwiches, burgers, and fries. The menu is concise and they do these classics well. They also have a daily milkshake and weekly food features. I still need to visit for their Sunday brunch! I've now been to the GR location many times and really appreciate how dialed in they've gotten over the years. You can order at the counter to go or get table service. The space is large and bright and good for groups. On my most recent visit, I was trying to decide between a burger and a chicken sandwich, and realized I'd never had the BBQ chicken club, which is listed as a grilled chicken breast with BBQ sauce, bacon, cheese, tomato, lettuce, and mayo. Our server told me that people like it if they are looking for something without fried chicken... but I really wanted fried chicken. So I asked if I could do that with fried chicken instead and she said absolutely! Their menu is super customizable, which is great to know. Our food came out quickly and I was impressed with the presentation of the sandwich. I like that they wrap it in paper which makes it easier to eat. It was a little messy towards the end with the BBQ sauce and mayo, but it was delicious and totally worth it. The veggies were fresh, the chicken was juicy, and the bacon was crispy... I'm thinking this might be my new go-to! Their burgers and other chicken sandwiches are also delicious. They have a full bar and fun cocktails, and happy hour Tuesday-Friday! I had walked past this place probably a hundred times and finally decided to give it a try. For some reason I thought this was the type of restaurant where you order at the counter, but when I went here, I realized it's a full service restaurant. My friends and I grabbed a booth and so adored the cool wallpaper and decor. I ended up ordering the Brussel sprouts to share and the fried chicken sando. The brussel sprouts were sooooooo yummy! Savory and sweet and finger-licking good. I could've licked the plate, seriously! The sandwich was really tasty too and the perfect size at a great price. All of my friends were pleased with their meals too and we had good service. I hear that they have a really tasty brunch so I'll be sure to come check that out soon! read more

Came back to Nonla and didn't get their fastball this time. Was able to try their "Restaurant week" feature which had a wagyu patty, caramelized onions, tempura onion rings, and a French onion aioli on it. Came with fries and an apple tart for dessert. This just shows Nonla knows how to make a good burger no matter what the toppings or sauces are. Burger was cooked well, plenty of fries, and the toppings were simple and not over the top. It's so rare to get a bun that stays in tact with the burger AND isn't dry. This bun was perfect. Also ordered a SEPARATE order of Nonla Way Fries which cost $7.25 and literally was in this little tiny paper boat. It was probably 15 fries if that. I am not impressed at all. It comes with standard toppings--lettuce, tomato, onion, and a secret sauce which is like that thousand island-style sauce. The flavors were all good, just nothing special to rave about in my opinion. If it wasn't for the sauce and cheese, the burger itself actually tasted a little dry. After tip, my burger alone was just under $10. I liked it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here for a burger. Stopped in for lunch and really enjoyed it. One of the owners sat us and gave us the entire run down of the menu and her favorites. The ordering was a little confusing because we kinda had a server, but some people were ordering at the counter, but the table had a QR code. Once she didn't come back for a little bit, we decided to place our order with the QR code, since we were in a rush. The food arrived pretty quickly and it was delicious. The hot chicken sandwich tasted just like classics in Nashville. The fries were great and one of ours was Nonla Style, and we loved that too. I was hoping to try their special strawberry shake, but it wasn't available on the QR for some reason, so we let her know and she apologized. Overall, super fast casual and great food. I am baffled by the glowing reviews. The burgers are passable, but nothing special. The service was ok, but pretty slow for a visit during non-peak hours. I got the N.B. After we ordered, the order seemed to take a long time to come out. The people behind us got their food before we did, even tho we ordered before them. I shoulda requested the Brussels to come out first, but I assume when I order an appetizer and food, the app would come out first. Everything came out together. Burger had no flavor and was on the dry side. Fries were subpar and soggy. Brussel Sprouts needed more of the topping and honey. There was some woody stick-ish thing on the top of several Brussels. I'm thinking who ever prepped these didn't cut enough off. Cups were paper to go cups, plastic utensil packets. Napkins were in a pop up bin on the table. I really like Nonla Burger. Been there 3x so far in the past few months, and always had a good experience here. Our first visit we tried the Double Cheese and the Chicken Sandwich - both were really good. The fries here are really good as well, and go some of that extra sauce on the side. We also tried the onion rings - very crispy good and not greasy. That visit went very well so we went back soon after for another go at the Double Cheese - and got the same result. A really good burger that held up well. Ask for extra onions and I got it - - that was awesome. The service here was also superb. Forgot her name but she was really helpful and accommodating, even gave me the history of the meaning of "Nonla" which was impressive. She was like the Ambassador of Nonla. This is kinda like the In-N-Out of GR, and I think Nonla is even better. Quality is very good, the pricing here is very competitive and affordable. I think this would be a regular go-to place for my burger and chicken cravings if I lived closer to the area. They fry the corn tortilla which gives it the same texture as an elephant ear and then dusts it in Parmesan cheese for added flavor. This was my first time here, and let me say that I was completely blown away! I love the location, the fact that there are multiple areas to sit at, and the way they do their ordering! Basically, you come in and get sat. On the table is a QR code to scan that will let you order and pay! The food is then brought to you. It was so easy, super quick, and the server was very helpful with explaining everything since we hadn't been there before. I was so shocked at the prices too! Probably the cheapest burger besides fast food that I've ever had, and the quality was not lacking! There were so many options in terms of toppings, and the side of fries we got was massive! I came here with a work group and it was great! The service was friendly and helpful. I know large groups can be difficult to accommodate but they handled our group of 14 splendidly! I was very excited to try this place out as it opened up near where my bf lives:) Walked in and noticed a really cool and spunky atmosphere inside. We were seated quickly and were told we could use a QR code to order or we could go up to the counter. The menu consists of mostly burgers and chicken sandwiches. They have fries and you can get them the "Nonla way" which has melted cheese, grilled onions, jalapeños, cilantro, and Nonla spread. I didn't try that this time but would like to the next time I stop in. The fries by themselves were pretty good! I was very close to ordering the Beyond Veggie Burger Meal, but noticed they have a plant based chicken so I definitely wanted to try that out. Ended up getting the Hot Chicken Sando with the plant based chicken which only costs $2 more than normal. To be completely honest with you, it was so good and almost fooled me and I couldn't believe it was plant based haha! The crispy texture of the outside and the juicy inside was just so on point. It had mayo, pickles, and chili oil. The chili oil gave this sandwich quite a bit of heat but the mayo and pickles really balanced it out well. I really love how simple the menu is here and how every person working there was extremely helpful and sweet. They music, the atmosphere, and vibe in general were all so great. After stalking their IG, I knew after they posted their burger special (a croissant burger.. yum!!) I had to go. It's been on my list but this just pushed this to the top. Luckily, it was a Wednesday night so downtown wasn't too packed and we found parking just around the corner. A little snowy rain always keeps people away which made going in very easy! We were promptly greeted and seated with paper menus that looked like placemats, and were instructed that you could order online or order at the counter. Strangely enough, there was no QR code on the menu provided that I was a bit confused how we would even do it, how they'd associate it with our table, etc - but user error.... it was on the napkin holder that was blocked by the ketchup bottle. Once we noticed the error of our ways, we immediately logged on to order. It was VERY simple and happy that it attached to our table. The online order system is through Toast Tab and I love that you can continue to add more to your order and not have to cash out with each transaction. One note - we came because of the special burger - and I wish they had the option to "make it a combo" online. I'm not sure if the counter customer service would be available to do that but when we manually calculated the burger, fries and a fountain pop, it definitely was more expensive than one of the other combo options. We only wanted to split an order of fries to try and each have a drink, so it worked out either way, but cost wise - hopefully they can give a little discount for making it a combo like other places, but either way, it's still extremely reasonable! Between my friend and I, we ordered the croissant burger, the hot chicken sando combo (came with a side of fries and a fountain drink) and an extra fountain drink. It came out within like 10 minutes of ordering directly to our table and was still warm and delicious! While the croissant burger was a little greasy but doesn't really deter you at all. The only thing I would have loved was a little bit more of a yolk break on the egg but that's a personal preference. The hot chicken sando was FANTASTIC though. Not overly greasy and actually a little spicier than I anticipated (in the best of ways). The fries were very good as well. It's a really simple menu and I really loved my experience and luckily, I didn't have a bad thing there! I just want to go back to try more. read more

Nonla burgers has been great!! I have now been here twice and feel ready to review. Food: delicious burgers (though not quite as buttery as culvers) that are more smash style, this is the closest thing to "in and out" I feel like we have here in the Midwest. The meals come with a very generous amount of fries. My husband tried the chicken sando his second trip here and the pickled veggies were a great nod to their Vietnamese roots. No gluten free buns but lettuce wraps will do! Ambiance: a lot of space, very family friendly with great high chairs. Modern, clean, bright. Value: great price point for the meal that comes with fries and a drink! Parking: street parking or paid lot parking. Can can be tricky/busy given the popular area. We will be back! read more
