I was excited to see the shop and was very interested in purchasing some cheese. My husband and I drove 45 minutes from across town to visit the shop. It also happened to be the Friday after the large ice storm we recently had, so we were happy to be able to support a local business after they had to close for a few days due to the weather. Upon arriving, we parked in the garage and walked around for a good ten minutes trying to find the shop. There is no good signage to show you exactly where the shop is, and walking around in 25-degree weather trying to find it was frustrating and we almost left. We finally found it, and upon walking inside, it was a warm and inviting space. There were two employees in the shop/restaurant area - one was helping a customer at the register and the other was talking to a friend/customer from behind the cheese counter. We were looking at the wall of non-cheese items, which seemed like a nice selection of crackers, mustards, honeys, and other accompaniments you could purchase. We walked up to the cheese counter and started looking at the cheese in the refrigerated display. We went back and forth between picking up cheese to see what it was and patiently looking up to wait for someone to acknowledge/help us. While we stood there, another employee came out from the back of the restaurant to bring samples of cheese to the customer at the register and promptly went back into the kitchen. The friend/customer of the other employee left, and the second employee that had been behind the counter moved out into the restaurant and started wiping empty tables. At this point, we had probably been in the shop for a good ten minutes. None of the employees acknowledged we were there, not even to say they would be with us shortly or to offer a hello. At this point I was frustrated, so we left to go to the bathroom in the hallway and didn't go back in. I'm not sure if we weren't "hip" enough for them to even say hello to, if we didn't look the part or what, but being completely ignored in a tiny shop for over ten minutes was beyond rude. I was so excited to visit this shop, but the experience left a bad taste in our mouths. As they say, "you never get a second chance to make a first impression", so we will find other places to spend our money.

We each started with a wine flight which we all very much enjoyed. To eat, we started with the French Cultured Butter and Bread which was incredible. The bread was super fresh and had some seasoning on top that was just so delicious. It was served with a seasonal jam and French cultured butter. I'm not usually a fan of jams, but whatever this jam was almost turned me into jam lover. It was super smooth and not overly sweet, pairing well with the butter in a way that made me smile. The cultured butter was also so delicious on its own. We also ordered a charcuterie board which came with two meats, three cheeses, the same bread as the other dish, almonds, pickles, and jams. It was a lot of bread given it was the same bread as the other dish we had, but it was all so good, we didn't mind. Everything was super fresh and each one of us gravitated towards different cheeses, meats and accompaniments in such a way that you could tell the selection was well-rounded. My friends each also ordered sandwiches which they loved. They mentioned being short staffed that day and the service was a tad slow, but thankfully it didn't impact our experience much. This place is an absolute gem and I'll definitely be back!

So why make the backroads trek to the source? For one thing, you can sneak a peek at the cheese-making operation. The process is very labor-intensive. Better still, you can walk around the corner to see the much more automated milking operation. A couple years ago, team Kenny invested in a new barn and robots to feed and milk the cows. They use lasers to read the cow udders, people. LASERS ON UDDERS I tell ya. Another reason to visit is that they've set up two very reasonably-priced Airbnb rooms in that sparkling new barn, right above the cows. Yes, they leave cheese samples in the refrigerator. Bring your own wine and bug spray and kick back on the patio. Pet the many cats. Meet Kenny if you're lucky. Hike in nearby Mammoth Cave. Who doesn't need a cheese weekend? I sure do. We really enjoyed our cheese-centered vacation and I now intend to center future vacations on cheese-related destinations. Finally, the store likely carries some specialty cheeses that your local store doesn't. Stock up, eat up, brag to your friends.

Definitely worth an actual trip to the farm just to see what other flavors you're hiding. Tragically, my little carton is now very empty. RIP. Whisky chocolate chunk -- yes please. While the chocolate chunks were playing a bit of hide-and-seek, the flavor itself was so good I'll let it slide this time. One tiny (loving) side-eye : the ice cream base uses corn syrup. Any chance of a version without it? More and more of us are leaning toward pure sugar these days. Just saying... I'd be first in line.

The staff were super nice and gave me helpful recommendations for what to ha have. I had the harvest melt sandwich which is a turkey sandwich with brie, squash, turkey, seed pesto, and a sage leaf on sourdough bread. when I went, though, they were out of sage leaves which was fine by me and were also out of turkey so I had it with chicken instead. I haven't had this sandwich with turkey, but I thought it was excellent (and dare I say, better) with the chicken. The bread was perfectly golden brown and crispy and which went super well with the soft texture of the squash and chicken and the tangyness of the brie and pesto. It was just such a delicious sandwich and I can't wait to have it again!

I tried this place 3 years ago when I was passing through Nashville on my way to Texas. I loved the grilled cheese so much I had to stop again on my way back through Nashville. Thankfully, the quality and taste of the food has not changed since my last visit 3 years ago. Which is an unfortunate common situation. Everyone in my party ordered something different, so I was lucky enough to try a bit of everyone's food. As I said before, I got the pimento mac and cheese grilled cheese, it was the perfect blend of all flavors. Others got the classic grilled cheese which had massive cheese pulls, and chicken pesto grilled cheese. They have a milkshake bar with a variety of flavors, the restaurant is designed in that classic "old school diner" style. The milkshakes were big, they even give you the extra that doesn't fit in the mug. Everyone in my party had raving reviews which only confirmed that this place has not changed. Will be looking forward to coming back here on my next visit.
