During my appointment, the braider stopped to show another staff member a video and carried on a personal conversation while working on my hair. When I asked for thicker braids, the result was inconsistent sizing throughout. Additionally, my hair began to frizz almost immediately because it was not properly wrapped into the braiding hair. Overall, the lack of professionalism and attention to detail was disappointing. I might try again with a different braider. read more

I gave this location in New Orleans 2 try's to install a sewing both times it came right out. My hair is knotted up. I paid $400 for naughty hair. I told the lady the second time she said she gave me a $70 discount. I don't know why I paid $400 for weave that didn't last two weeks. thank God I'm a hairstylist I was able to fix it, color it, but now I have leftover tracks of a sewin that was dangling off my neck. I think the most challenging part was articulating what I wanted done (which I think was also challenging for my stylist). I am a little late with this review because the damage is still impacting my hair. I came from out of town for jazz fest. I wanted a style for my locs. the first girl cousin not even show up on time and went in a coffee fun right after she got there. then she friend to overcharge me for a wash and section. I informed the owner and she assured me she could give me a style in no time the morning of the festival. she was also late. and insisted on using a tool to do my new growth. mind you, I just wanted a style. against my better judgement I ageeed. Now my locs are continuing to fall out because that tool cut my hair at the root....ive been growing my locs since my son passed away. there is no way im letting the owner Amber, get away with this. she won't respond to my texts, it's already cost over $1000.00 in visits with my regular loctitian to try to deal with the danage and she cries when she does my hair, we have been working in my locs for over 4 years together. if I could give less then 1 star I would. if you love your hair don't go here. I scheduled large Marley twists, and it is my fault for not providing a picture, but it's a pretty standard style - so, I didn't think about it. After my hair was done, I realized the size relates to the size of the part and size of braid. Typically, if I've asked for medium or large twists, my hair was generally parted the same, just the size of the braids varied. Also, there is A LOT of gel in my hair. I am highly disappointed with my experience at NolaBraider. The stylist (Charlie) arrived an hour late because she had overslept. I got there early and ended up waiting in the rain, which definitely wasn't the way I wanted to start my day. My braids were sloppy and rushed. +3 stars for polite customer service and accommodating to client. -2 stars for lack of co$t disclosure prior and after service, not a fan of the wax shellack applied to maintain style. A visit to New Orleans provided the opportunity to have professional braids done as we lack this service in our Seattle neighborhood. A friend of the family recommended Nola Braids. Initial appointment requests made by texts, but after two days some miscommunication ensued requiring to reach out again. A Braider was assigned for Monday morning. Braider communicated readily the days prior and the morning of for start time of 8am. Braider texted at 7:45am to notify of an ETA of 8:15am. Approximately 8:30am the process began. For the the styles pictured below it was 4 hours and a total of $145 + 15% gratuity. Initial services of wash were not administered as they were already completed prior to visit. Blow drying and detangling services did apply. A wax, shellack type of agent was applied for r the maintenance of the style. The styling agent was a bit much. Not sure if that is the standard for all styles and hair types. Total amount was disclosed upon completion minus itemization of services. Public Compliments received of completed styles. read more

I tried to give this company the benefit of the doubt. The first time I made an appointment with one of their braiders, the girl was 30-45 minutes late. Granted, she apologized, so I let it go. Plus she did a great job on my hair. I booked a second appointment with her and she was late yet again. I had to text and call her to see what was going on. She answered the phone and said she just woke up and was on her way. She was an hour late. Now what's crazy to me is she has a notice on her site stating "if you're 10 minutes late, she's going to add a $10.00 fee, if you are more than 10 minutes late, she is going to cancel the service. I don't have an issue with this policy because I'm always on time. I actually value people's time. What happens when the braiders are ALWAYS late?!? And I'm NOT talking just 5 or 10 minutes late. I'm talking 30 minutes to an hour. I guess their time is the only thing that matters. I ended up booking with a different braider. It went from bad to worse. She told me that I shouldn't have booked her on Schedulicity and to book her on some Dual app. If I don't want someone booking me on a certain app, I would shut the app down. Then we went back and forth on the days and times she was available. On the website it clearly shows the days and times that she is available. But when I booked it for a specific time, she texted me saying she wasn't available and to come later. Like why list days and times that's not convenient for you on your site, then have the audacity to get mad when clients book those times listed ?!? I went through with the appointment and she did a great job on my hair. So I booked a second appointment with her. My appointment was for 7:00 a.m. The braider called me at 6 something in the morning and told me she wouldn't make it until 10:30 a.m. because something was wrong with her car. I had offered to pick her up. She declined my offer and said she needed tires. I told her I left my house already and was already at the shop waiting on her. I stay an hour away so I had to leave early. I told her if she couldn't make it at the time I booked it for, to give me my deposit back. Like it was such an inconvenience. I had to ask my bf if it was okay if he made it to work late so he could drop our son off at school so I could make it to my appointment on time. Anyway, I guess she didn't want to give me the deposit back, so she told me not to worry about it and she made it there within 15 minutes. Unbelievable! She had the audacity to tell me deposits are non-refundable when I seen her in person. My last final straw was my recent appointment. I paid 300+ for Bohemian braids. I did not get Bohemian braids. I had to remind the girl to put the curls in my head. I asked her what she was doing, I said do you put the curls in last or something. I was so confused! She was like oh I forgot. Then she was on her phone majority of the time for starters. I paid too much money for the curly human hair and she messed it up by dipping my hair in hot water. She should have put rods on the braids that she "forgot" to add the curls to and dipped them individually, not dip all the braids in hot water. The hair has no curl pattern to it. Like I booked and paid for Bohemian braids and that's not what I have at all. Now she claim she been doing hair since she was nine. I don't know if she just didn't care or what. I'm not even going to expose their names on here; I'm just not that type of person. I hate leaving bad reviews but this place is just horrible. I try to invest my money into black businesses, especially young female entrepreneurs. However, the women I have encountered showed me they didn't care about my time nor my hair experience with them. All they care about is money. Like if you're running late all the time, it would not hurt to give me a discount. If you know I booked Bohemian braids and you know that's not what you gave me, then offer to redo it, or take partial payment. I'm done scheduling my hair appointments with Nola Braider. Some, I did say some, of the women they hired are not professional at all. The first braider was located on the West Bank. The second braider does hair on the West Bank and New Orleans location. The third braider is located in the Slidell area. I can't keep spending my hard earned money on piss poor service. These damn non Bohemian braids is reason why I decided to go ahead and leave a review. Like 300+ dollars for a style that was not achieved!! Then I told her to slick down the edges, I'm like you don't have to put braids on it. She going to say, because they too tight? Like wtf?!? I remained polite. I booked at the Slidell location and while my hair came out good in the end my braided was somewhat unprofessional with a bad attitude that honestly made me feel uncomfortable. It was my first time at the salon and I had booked for lemonade braids, I showed her a picture before hand and she said she could accommodate. Yet, she starting putting some box braids in my hair that I did not request. Since it didn't look bad I said should could continue putting the braids but if she was going to do that I would rather it be knotless braids (I have had bad experiences with box braids pulling my hair out). She claimed that they did not do knotless braids and once I told her I have seen them on the website she then said she would have to charge me more. I explained I didn't ask for braids in the first place and didn't understand why should would charge me more, she then proceeded to give me the silent treatment while giggling under her breath. She finally said she would do that braids but at this point I felt very uncomfortable. In the end my braids came out good but they are extremely tight (even after I told her to make them looser). Update: I have bumped this review up to three stars. I ended up speaking with another woman from the shop (the owner I assume) and she apologized on behalf of the braider. I do not recommend this salon because they are very inconsistent. 3 times in a row, I booked medium box braids for my daughter, each time they were increasingly larger. This last time, they were fat, stiff, and messy. I will not be returning to this salon again to allow them to play on our heads and our faces. Two days before Christmas and I have to take these braids out because stylists want to bite off more than they can chew and do rush jobs. I have no pictures of the second time because they were unraveling before we left the salon, I had to add beads to keep them at least for Thanksgiving.
