Nola Physical Therapy is an amazing physical therapy clinic dedicated to continued education, personalized programs, and professional behavior. I should include that I was a student here for a clinical rotation during the second to third year of my doctorate program. This does not bias me toward the clinic, if anything it allowed me to see the inner workings of the therapists and the staff. The PTs at Nola truly care for the continued well-being of each patient. I worked with Meghan and Jason who both exemplify the best that the practice of physical therapy has to offer. They are both well versed in numerous manual therapy styles and utilize whatever will work best for their individual patient. They carefully examine gait for marathon runners, accurately diagnose impairments, treat most orthopedic conditions, etc. The excellence carries over to the rest of the staff at Nola. Alex and Anthony keep the practice running while maintaining their friendly smiles and attitudes. Kim, the owner and instructor at the upstairs Pilates studio, allows for the integration of Pilates techniques into the exercise programs which has been shown to positively influence both fields. I've known Jason through recreational sports for a few years and have always heard he was a good physical therapist (a few of the other guys in the league had gone to him), but it wasn't until I started going to NOLA after a recent run in with a surgeon that I really understood how right they were. Unfortunately it's not my first time with PT, just a fun byproduct of getting older I guess. I thought my last clinic was pretty decent, until I started coming to see Jason at NOLA. The amount of one-on-one time you get is awesome, much more than I got at my last place. This isn't some operation that books as many people as possible at the same time and has everyone (patients and therapists) running into each other. You can tell that Jason truly cares about each patient as an individual and has modeled his practice with that core element in mind. Aside from just being a genuinely nice guy, Jason is very knowledgeable when it comes to helping people recover- encouraging you and motivating you to get better. I am 100% confident that I was able to return to competitive sports much faster working with him than I would have at another place. The rest of the staff is awesome as well and the office itself is clean, simple, and conveniently located making it really a no-brainer when deciding on a PT clinic. OK, I've been a Yelp fan for many years but this is my first time writing a review so YOU know this place is THAT good! I was having major neck issues and I went to a chiropractor (I found out later that Chiros aren't even MD's!) and I was still in pain. A former colleague recommended Jason Gromelski, owner of NOLA Therapy. WOW. Jason is a rare breed of doctor these days. He cares about each and every patient, takes his time and is all about solutions so you don't have keep returning to him! He also explains matters in layman terms and is very comfortable/fun to talk to. As a lifelong New Yorker, in a city with the best doctors, he's the cream of the crop. His credentials say it all: he worked with professional athletes and Cirque Du Soleil performers. The offices are clean and spacious and everyone that works at NOLA Therapy is nice. The folks here are super friendly and know their job well. Easy to set up appointments and each therapist or the assistant knows what they are doing. First time I started PT was over a year ago for a shoulder injury. Marivic did an amazing job healing me right up. Now I find myself back for other reasons after having a bad experience in LI with a different PT place and can't tell you how amazing this place is. I went back to Marivic and within 1 session I feel like I'm starting to heal. I highly recommended this place. After reading the reviews, everyone was saying how good Jason was. I decided to call and make an appointment to see him about my neck and shoulder. I spoke to Anthony, who told me that Jason would not be available until September 10. He wanted me to see another therapist on August 24. I told Anthony that I wanted to wait for Jason on September 10 and he became very annoyed with me. He said, "Jason only sees certain patients." He then raised his voice at me and said, "I'll take you off. Have a nice weekend." Anthony: you are not professional at all. What do you mean Jason only sees "certain patients"? Do I not qualify to see him? It's the first time I'm calling--we haven't even met. How would you know? At least let Jason evaluate me and then if he says I should see another therapist, it'll be fine with me. Do you not like me because of my last name? Does Jason only see Caucasion people or celebrities? Does the fact that I am not either mean that I'm not good enough for him? I'm sure Jason is good. I'm also sure Jason is not the only one who's good in New York City. It's not that I cannot find another excellent therapist who will help me with my neck and shoulder. However, there is a principle involved -- You discriminate against minorities. Why else would you say: "Jason only sees certain patients" without knowing anything else about me other than my name? read more

As a weekend warrior I have visited a few chiropractors for various pain and physical therapy, I have tried anything possible but nothing worked. I came to Jason and Nola Physical Therapy after they were recommended by my Doctor who is a spine and pain specialist, I was impressed to hear him described Jason Gromelski as one the best PT he had ever met, this coming from the first Doctor who could tell me what was wrong with me I was anxious to find out if he would live up to his reputation! Now after about a dozen sessions I can say that Jason is an amazing therapist, not only did he help the immediate area (cervical) with deep tissue massage therapy, traction, and some joint mobilization. He also gave me exercises to strengthen my neck and back muscles that I continue at home. During my first session, Jason took the time to discuss my problems and I immediately felt comfortable with him, he showed great knowledge of the human body, the spine and the way muscles and nerves interact, he did not rush and took the time to listen to my worries and I had lots ! By looking at me and gently touching my neck he could tell which vertebras was misplaced, unlike other therapist that I had seen before who had to look at the MRI first before giving their diagnostic. I must say that after leaving that day I already felt better ! A lot of young professionals, athletes, dancers (it's near Time Square) seem to be going there, the place is big clean and unpretentious, there is no fancy Buddha statue anywhere and you are more likely to hear BBC America rather than new age music while you get your treatment. The team is young, really friendly and seem to genuinely care, you will leave energized and on the way to a pain free life ! Finally unlike my last PT who rated the highest here but did not take my insurance, Nola seem to accept most of them. I Highly recommended them ! read more

I have a hamstring problem and have been going to NOLA for several months now. While my primary therapist is MEGAN, who is wonderful, I have also been treated by almost if not all of the other therapists. ALEX provides guidance for the follow-up exercises after the initial stretch and is a real asset to the business. All of the staff here are friendly and helpful and really seem to enjoy each other and their work. Everyone gets along well (who needs tension when you're trying to get better, right?) and work to make all the clients feel like the staff really cares about you and want you to improve. Hands down Nola is the best in NYC! Having been an injury prone college football player I have had a ton of experience dealing with physical therapy. After I had my achilles tendon surgically repaired I ended up going to a few different PT's that were supposedly top rated...even official PT's for some of the NYC pro teams. None compared to the treatment and customer service I received from Nola. From the one-on-one attention, to the knowledgable insight and understanding, to the customized rehab program, it was so much better than any of the other places I had visited. They got me back to normal as quickly as I could have hoped and made the sessions as productive and fun as possible. I've continued to go to Nola for all of my other injuries and aches. They do a tremendous job of not only addressing each issue, but also have helped me understand what's causing the issue as well as the various treatment options. Additionally, the office is centrally located and easy to get to and has a shower available so I could get back to work without being a sweaty mess. I absolutely recommend Jason and team. I went to NOLA pt after having a serious lower leg injury playing basketball. I had been through 2 previous sets (60 sessions) of physical therapy elsewhere and still couldn't walk that well. After 25 sessions with the knowledgeable, caring and professional staff at NOLA I'm able to run and resume athletic activities. I first went to NOLA two-and-a-half years ago after injuring my foot. I loved the office and felt comfortable working with every physical therapist and staff member there. Everyone is incredibly knowledgeable and thoughtful about constructing a recovery plan. As a former competitive athlete, I have worked with a number of physical therapists and people in related fields, and NOLA is the best I have ever encountered. Tony at the desk keeps everything running smoothly, was really helpful in accommodating my schedule, and worked with my insurance to get extra sessions when I needed additional time and to ensure that my insurance covered everything. I dislocated my elbow a few months ago, and when my orthopedic surgeon told me I should start PT within two days, I immediately called NOLA; even though the office is quite far from where I now work and live, I knew the commute would be worth it to get the treatment I needed to recover. Tony squeezed me in for an initial appointment as requested, and I have once again had a great experience. In particular, the staff has really listened to me about my post-recovery goals for physical activity and has been trying to help me get there efficiently and safely. LOVE Nola! Everyone is really nice and accommodating. They truly seem to care about your well being instead of trying to milk your insurance like some other places. I've been going there for just a few weeks and I am a million times better. I can tell its from the therapy. They also go the extra mile and take the time to email you exercises for you to do at home and suggest the appropriate accessories to alleviate the pain. Absolutely the worst physical therapy service and attitude in the city. The first 2-3 sessions you might get the attention you require and then you get 10-15 minutes help on strength as you go for 45-1hr session. Note there might be 1-2 people the therapist works on while you "exercise". Moreover the accounting staff is rude and inconsiderate. Don't be surprised if you get the full bill on your card as NOLA filed the clam late or reimbursement is sent to your address. They used to have good staff but as of 2012 avoid them at all cost! read more

I think Jason is fantastic. I had an unusual knee surgery in August 2013 and suffered greatly after. Although I tried P/T at a number of other venues, no one really helped me significantly. My knee seemed stuck and I limped for a long time. Even after losing the limp, I was in a lot of discomfort and walking was not the pleasure it used to be. I noticed a difference the first time Jason treated me, he was very knowledgeable and very hands on. He was the only therapist that I had seen out of maybe 6 who spent my entire session moving my knee and the surrounding muscles. I remember the time that as he was moving my patella I felt and hear a loud snap, a large adhesion had broken. It felt great. I am so much better thanks to Jason. I have recommended him to friend and she also thinks he is great. THANK YOU!!! read more

I cannot recommend Nola PT enough! I originally met Jason years ago at another PT company where I was randomly placed with him for tendinitis in my foot. He went above and beyond to help me get back to racing triathlons. I was so impressed with his knowledge and individual attention, I followed his progress as he opened his own practice - Nola PT - a few years ago. Given my history, I knew I would need to find him again and unfortunately, for me, I was right. I am now back in Jason's hands after having ankle surgery this passed December. When I first got hurt, I immediately sought Jason's advice - even before seeing a doctor - because he is someone I trust and he somehow always seems to have the answer (maybe because he's the type of guy who reads orthopedic text books at night!). I had a somewhat rare condition and Jason helped me find an amazing surgeon who specializes in what I was dealing with. I was incredibly nervous about the process, but felt so much better knowing I would be in great hands coming out the other side. I'm in the midst of therapy now and I've had all kinds of complications with my nerves from surgery, but Jason has had an answer for everything. Again, he's gone above and beyond (staying in contact with my doctor directly, helping me find specialists, finding me deals on various things I have needed for my nerve damage, etc...) to make sure that I heal as well as possible and also to make sure I understand every step of the process. There is no way I would have stayed sane through this ordeal without him and the whole team at Nola. Anthony at the front desk is great and I've gotten a chance to work Marieveck here and there and she's incredibly knowledgeable and amazing to work with too! Thanks to countless sports injuries, I have had experience with numerous PT practices (small and large, private and institutionalized) in NYC and elsewhere. Nola has been the only practice where they combine real attention (substantial time dedicated to personalized work, no double-bookings!) with unusual sensibility, detailed knowledge with thorough explanation, patience with encouragement to push harder, varied exercise programs with vigilant supervision. They are engaging people who don't take themselves too seriously and keep things light and positive. And they take care of all the bureaucracy (insurance, interface with doctors, etc.) in the most unobtrusive manner I have ever experienced, without any unnecessary involvement of the patient. The only potential "negative" is that one needs to schedule a couple of weeks in advance; this is a testament to (or result of) how serious they are at Nola about focusing on each patient individually, how loyal their patient base is, and how popular they are. The experience at Nola is remarkably different: it is (almost) fun. read more
