These guys recently bought up Western Propane out here in California and things are not off to a…read moregood start. Here's my story of woe, as told to them by me in an online form today. I really hope they do the right thing after costing me so much money. I'd love to update this review with a happy ending story. ****** Hi, there are several issues that have happened with my account. The 1st is that our tank is supposed to be checked and topped off automatically. Apparently it hadn't been checked since this January and last Wed night we ran out of gas. Or else it WAS checked and we developed a leak in our tank and ran out of gas. I'm not sure either way because apparently our account history never got migrated over from Western Propane. This house is a vacation rental and so running out of propane (no hot water, no stove, no furnace) was not an acceptable option for our guests. I called Western Propane at 9:36 pm and got a hold of your after-hours guy - I think his name was ****. He told me that he could fill my tank either at midnight or early the next morning. I told him that I needed to check with my guests to find out which they'd prefer and that I'd call him back. He got rude to me, saying, "No, you need to make a decision! I'm not going to sit in my truck on the side of the road!" First off, I had no idea that I was speaking to someone who was driving. I thought I he was sitting at a desk in an office. Second, I hadn't said or done anything to be spoken to that way. Under the circumstances I thought I was being very reasonable. Put on the spot, I asked him to come in the morning. Fortunately my guests were relieved to hear that. The next day another guy showed up. He filled the tank and told me that I had a gas leak and I'd need to call a plumber before he could turn the gas on. This was weird because we hadn't smelled any gas at all. I asked more questions and he said that there was a minor leak from a bolt on the tank and he had tightened it up. So I don't know how long I've been paying for gas from a leaking tank. Our tank is VERY old and rusty. He insisted that the problem was on my side because the line wasn't holding pressure. He was very nice and said that if we could get the line fixed, he'd come back the same day and turn the gas on. I called some plumbers and was very lucky to have them come out within a few hours. They spent a few hours trying to find a problem and finally concluded that there WAS NO PROBLEM. I called your guy back. When he returned, he found that the line was holding pressure and he turned the gas on. So I paid a plumbing company $225 for absolutely no reason. And my guests went without hot water from 9pm until around 3 or 4pm the next day. And they had plumbers and your employee going in and out, disrupting their work and their business calls for most of their day. To be slapped with a $446 bill on top of this mess was a real insult. I'd like to have my account credited for this fill. The guy who filled the tank mentioned that there's such a thing as a smart meter that could alert your company if we're low on gas. We don't have anything like that on our janky old tank so if that's how Superior Plus decides when to check a tank, this needs to be fixed.

Stay away from this company!!! In Western NY they price gouge in Winter when you need and go…read morethrough propane the most. I have called about this time and time again. They lower it at the time, then they rack it back up!! BE AWARE after 10 years of loyalty doesn't mean nothing to them!!!!!!!

Reliable Propane - When do you ever see a place offering an honor system for anything anymore.

Well when the usual place you fill your propane tank is closed you need to find somewhere new. A…read moreguy outside the old location suggested Reliable Propane. So we made the drive out there. The process was quick and easy. $20 cash and we back our vehicle up near the propane truck. We were filled up and out of there in minutes. I loved there sign saying you can 'after hours' on the honor system, take a tank that has 5 gallons and return the next days to complete your transaction. How's that for customer service? 2026-31

Terrible experience. Had them for 3 years. I was on a "will call" basis and arrived home one day to…read morefind that Reliable showed up and filled my tank without my authorization to the tune of $775. Mind you, i had a 500 Gallon tank and my tank was at 35% and i did not call! Called up and got the run around. We made a verbal deal over the phone to come and empty and remove the tank and i would be given a refund for $150. Now, i know the 35% propane in my tank that i already bought previously was well worth more than $150 But i agreed and just wanted to get rid of reliable. Anyways, after removing my tank, and even my own personal hose from the line to the regulator i have yet to receive our agreed upon credit. After calling I was told that they had no recollection of our deal... Beware of shady business practices such as this from Reliable Propane. Purchased our own tank from Noco and received promt, honest service. Thanks Noco for listening to your customers. Looking for anyone dealing with Reliable. I would highly recommend you look elsewhere and do your own research.

I've never had such a nice tank. Before I would do the tank exchange at the big box store and leave with a rusty banged up product and endure poor service. This was very affordable. Another tank was old but just needed to be re-certified. They do that. Bottom line..It's a family owned business that takes care of their customers. Update: my 88-year-old father wanted to replace his furnace and add central air to his house. He asked me to call drum oil and propane. I presumed because their name has oil and propane in the title that they didn't do gas furnaces. Boy was I wrong. Our family is so happy with the service and the attention that Drum gave to my father. It's an old house, so it was a challenge. We received three quotes with different options within 48 hours. All were very reasonable. The installation took place shortly afterwards. I was impressed with the quick turnaround. I was even more impressed with the level of service. They were very patient with my father. They worked hard. And completed with superior workmanship. If you need a furnace or central air I would highly recommend Drum Oil and Propane.

I have been a customer for 15+ years and I plan on another 15+ years!
