Amongst everyone contacted me, Kirby seemed more genuine and professional in the replies. Time went by with another artic freeze last December. Ok, time to revisit my request. I messaged Kirby on Yelp. He remembered our conversation and replied right away, as usual. After I sent him the pictures, he quickly replied with a quote. Then, he agreed to show up on my day off. My husband wanted me to fix the front door since the freeze we all endured over 10 years ago. I tried my DIY fix from foam patch to stuck some towels, to seal the seams with packing tape to adding a drape... Yaddi yadda. Ok. Time to call a professional. Because it's an exterior door, it has to be fiberglass door because steel door will conduct temperature from outside. Hot out hot in and cold out cold in. No lying. I researched before agreed to get it installed. Also, because of the door frame had been badly damaged with years of abuse from the weather, everything has to go. I was told by some carpenters who wanted to just replace out the bad piece of door frame with a piece of wood plank. No way, José. I was so glad that I refused to get another DIY person's work and getting charged for a professional price. According to Kirby, his Mr. Handyman Kirby business has been handed down from his grandfather to his father... for generations. Kirby specializes in doors, drywall repairs and other handyman's tasks. He was professional and polite. My neighbor came by to inquire about his business. I had to give them his card and information. He gave 100% of his attention to my project. That's very important. So, he won't get distracted and delay my project. I really appreciate his policy in taking care of his clients. Guess what, I'm going to enlarge his business card and tape it to my door. When I asked…read moremy realtor for a handyman recommendation, I was referred to John Patrick of Cypress Handyman. I wanted to replace several builder-grade light fixtures with ceiling fans. Before the work began, I communicated with John Patrick by text and email, providing photos of the existing fixtures and the ceiling fans I wanted installed. Unfortunately, after the installation, I immediately noticed several issues. The outdoor ceiling fan wobbled and made a humming noise, while the ceiling fan in my primary bedroom was unbalanced and its light would not work. John Patrick told me the primary bedroom fan's light kit was defective and that I would need to obtain a replacement. Regarding the outdoor fan, he said it was "as good as he could get it." After he left, I also noticed a red electrical wire protruding from beneath the mounting canopy of the living room fan. I contacted the ceiling fan manufacturer, who promptly sent a replacement light kit under warranty. I then reached out to John Patrick to complete the repair. He scheduled two appointments, rescheduled one of them, and ultimately failed to show up for the final appointment without any communication. At that point, I hired another handyman to inspect and correct the installation. He discovered that the ceiling fans could not be properly balanced because essential installation hardware--including nuts and screws--had never been installed. He also determined that the light kit was not defective at all; it had simply been connected incorrectly during the installation. Once the missing hardware was installed and the wiring was corrected, all of the issues were resolved. At the conclusion of the original job, John Patrick requested full payment and assured me that he would return to address any issues that arose. Trusting his commitment, I paid him in full via Zelle and even included a tip. After repeated attempts to have him honor his promise and receiving no response, I ultimately filed a claim through Zelle. I generally give people the benefit of the doubt and hope for the best. Unfortunately, my experience with Cypress Handyman did not reflect the level of workmanship, professionalism, or customer service I expected. I regret not sharing this experience sooner, as it may help other homeowners make a more informed decision before hiring John Patrick of Cypress Handyman. I have also advised my realtor not to refer Cypress Handyman to future clients.

In one day, Ben and Mehta fixed our garage door, replaced the lock on an interior door, added a weather strip to two doors, ripped out a shelf and painted it to make room for the washer and dryer. Purchased, transported and mounted a 75' TV, replaced a shower head, and installed two curtain rods. They were on time, professional, clear communication and resourceful.
