    California Steak Sandwich
    Danyon D.

After spotting this new restaurant on Yelp, my fiancée and I had to give it a try. No Sabo has a great location in the south waterfront area with a small and beautifully decorated restaurant. The service was extremely pleasant. The food was excellent. I throughly enjoyed my shrimp tacos. Which reminded me of tacos from Holbox, a Michelin star restaurant in Los Angeles. My fiancée got the California Steak Sandwich, she says it had amazing flavor.

Stopped in here for a quick lunch and had the most amazing steak wrap. The steak was super tender and so flavorful. The ambience is very relaxed, and the staff were absolutely amazing. The Chef came out and talked to me for a little bit and shared a little bit about all the food preparation. The food quality is of the highest standard and The cleanliness is very apparent. I highly recommend this place for lunch. Stop on in. Sincerely, all the way from Vegas, Steve.

Each dish was presented with care and beauty and so full of quality yumminess. The service was friendly, warm and informative. So thrilled to have this comfortable, tasty and affordable cafe in South Waterfront. They recently started serving casual dinners as well. This is one those places that will soon be on many radars. Run to try them out.

Hands down one of the best food spots in Portland! No Sabo is a hot new spot on the south waterfront that brings a fresh and exciting twist to Mexican cuisine. The torta de chilaquil is an authentic masterpiece packed with so much flavor, just make sure to add the steak. I also added a chilled Limeade, which was so refreshing. The vibe is fun, casual, and everything is thoughtfully plated with bold, rich flavors. Top notch service and friendly staff. If you're in Portland, this is an absolute must-visit for a lunch that hits every craving.

You can absolutely smell the fish and vinegar as soon as you walk through the door, which I think gives the place a very homey pub feel. I ordered a spiked peach Arnold Palmer, which I enjoyed (and it was pleasantly strong) and a glass of the house white, which was good for the price. Our server was very fast and attentive. To eat I got the tomato soup with a grilled cheese, which was absolutely fantastic. The soup was so creamy and flavorful, and I cannot imagine a better meal after spending all day walking outside in the rain. The fries were super crispy and I liked the batter. My partner and I shared some of their breadsticks, which were deliciously baked (fresh!) and came with a super refreshing basil crema and a nice tomato-y dip. Wonderful all. My partner ordered fish and chips, and was surprised to find that it is one large fillet of fish, not multiple pieces like you would typically expect. He said the fish was fine, but a little tough. Overall, a wonderful experience. I definitely hope to return. I highly recommend this place as a refuge during the cold winter months!

Their tap list is extensive but also includes non-standard options. We love to see non-alcoholic beers as well as gluten free beer, cider, cocktails, and other libations. The food menu is great too. There are several items that either come gluten free or can be modified to be. The servers are knowledgeable about the ingredients of the menu items and I feel confident and safe eating here when gluten free is a need for me. They can get pretty crowded, but have several seating options. It was nice out today so outdoor seating was even possible, though it looked like there was a wait. There are tvs in several spots that showcase local sports when possible. There is a kids area and you can sit close while the kids play. Everyone we come in contact with here from servers to hosts are super friendly and welcoming. The food is pretty good. This time around, we shared the garlic Parmesan fries and the chicken wings (buffalo and honey gojuchang sauces). The wings were smoked and moist with good flavor. The fries were alright. More of the aioli would have helped so maybe request extra sauce or get some on the side. The dessert menu has some non-traditional offerings. The highlight for me was the cheesecake. I was assured by a server one time that the chef creates a gluten free cheesecake that rotates on the seasonal dessert menu. The current offering is tiramisu. The coffee chocolate sauce is good and I appreciated the bonus chocolate chip biscotti. The actual cheesecake is decent and I would be excited to try other flavors in the future.

We got here about an hour before the sunset and we got to have amazing drinks and food while watching the sun disappear in the horizon. I also tried the Amalfi Stroll with gin and aperol and passion fruit, lime and grapefruit. Perfect balance of sweet and touch of bitter from the aperitif. Other solid choices, pun intended, included the rockfish jambalaya which was loaded with flavor and very filling. And to end the night, butterscotch bread pudding ftw. One of my biggest concerns was dining with dairy-free and gluten-free restrictions. I asked whether there was anything on the menu that could accommodate both without substitutions, because with higher-end dishes, removing key components often leaves you with a plate that feels incomplete and not as thoughtfully prepared as intended. I was told that essentially every item on the menu contained one or the other, or both, which was frustrating and made it very difficult to order comfortably. Unfortunately, the service issues started before we were even seated. When we arrived, the hostess initially ignored us and had us walking around trying to figure out where to go for help, only for us to end up back where we started. When she finally acknowledged us, she rudely told us to stand against the wall until she was ready. It set an unwelcoming tone right away. Our server was also very cold and unfriendly throughout the meal. When I pulled out my chair to sit down, I found a bunch of crumbs on it that I had to clean off myself, right in front of the server. The plate already set in front of my seat, with the napkin on it, also had crumbs on it, which made the table setting feel careless and unclean from the start. Then when our wine arrived, the service got even sloppier. On the second pour, after originally pouring us each the correct wine, our server mixed up the bottles and topped off our glasses with each other's wine. It was a noticeable mistake and frustrating because the wines were already in our glasses and then ended up mixed together. For a restaurant that charges premium prices, I expected much better hospitality, cleanliness, and attention to detail. The view is lovely, but unfortunately the overall experience did not live up to the standard the restaurant presents.

While they weren't as crispy as I would've wanted - I would say while some parts were, most of it was on the softer side - I did think that they were seasoned excellently. They also paired quite well with the mayo-based sauces we received. Moving onto the burger, I really enjoyed this. When I've had tofu on a burger in the past - it's usually been in smaller pieces - so getting such a massive piece that sticks out on either end of the burger was really nice. In addition, the breading was good - while not super-present. I quite liked the fact that it was very lightly breaded - meaning the huge patty was like 95% tofu - leaving the tofu to stand on its own as the majority of the bite. The buns were alright - I'm not big into vegan buns - but I didn't mind these The mustard sauce was also pretty good I will say, although I did order the Mr. Onion burger so I should've known what I was getting myself into, but there were just way too many onions on this burger. It was to the point where they absolutely dominated the taste of my first bite. I had to remove a lot of them from the bottom of the burger to actually make this edible. For the price, it is a bit expensive - but it's also quite filling so I didn't mind it. I also have to mention - because my burger was late, as a gift they brought out a full set of pastries/cookies in a box. This was incredibly surprising and something I've never seen another restaurant do. Major props for that
