I called this company because I found lice on my daughter's head. I inquired as to her availability and what her prices would be. I had looked at the prices on her site, but could not make heads or tails of what the charge may be because the pricing table was so convoluted. Amid a flurry of word salad over the phone, I managed to hear the figure $300.
OK, $300 for 2 children and myself. I have long, thick hair, so OK. I'll pay that. I also understand that maybe prices will fluctuate depending on the severity of the case as well. I could see that she might not be able to give a full quote before assessing the case.
She came to my home and proceeded to check and treat my two daughters, myself, my husband and (check only, no treatment) my mother-in-law. There was never any further discussion on pricing whatsoever accept that I knew my MOL's check would cost $30.
So I still have the $300 figure in my head, but I've added my husband (who has a military cut). So to be on the safe side I thought, "This could cost me $400".
No Nits Northshore charged me $635.00.
My receipt was not itemized, so I can't event tell you where that number came from.
Fast forward 4 days later. One day before my scheduled recheck with No Nits Northshore (which was going to be an additional fee btw). My daughter had had a stomach bug, so we all had been staying home over the 4th of July holiday and did not have contact with anyone else. Good thing, because when I parted my daughter's hair to braid it, I saw a large bug scurry across her scalp. Are. You. Kidding. Me. I started to comb through my daughter's hair with a lice comb and found multiple bugs and nits. I now had to keep my children home form summer camp because I could not allow other children to be exposed.
Here's what I've learned about lice: it takes 9-12 days for them to reach adulthood. We were all treated 4 days ago. No Nits Northshore did not do the job I paid her to do. She didn't just miss eggs. She missed full bugs.
Ok, let me give her the chance to make it right. I texted her and told her that there are large bugs in my daughters hair. I asked if she could come back that day (one day before the scheduled recheck). She said she could and I asked if there is a fee to retreat. She would not tell me. Instead she said "When is your recheck set for?" I told her "Tomorrow". She wanted to know what I found. "Big bugs." I told her.
She requested a phone call and I explained everything over the phone. She claimed she would "work with me" on price, but she wanted to come out and have a look. I tried to pin her down. I needed to know how much the recheck would be. I needed to know how much a retreatment would be. I got a confusing answer saying that a retreat is free because it may just be a male bug, but then she also told me $175. So how am I supposed to know which one of those this is going to be. She already charged me drastically more than she quoted once. I was not about to let that happen again, so I contacted another company. They fixed my problem for $190.
Since my husband and I who originally did need to be treated by No Nits Northshore, did not have anything in our hair, I concluded the original treatment was successful for us. Therefore, I'm willing to pay and have no complaints there. I did however feel that it would only be fair to ask for a refund from No Nits Northshore for the fee charged to treat both of my daughters.
I didn't know exactly what that amount was because I did not receive an itemized receipt, but I did my best to divide out the charges from the total.
I contacted No Nits Northshore over the phone. First with a text to make sure it was a good time to call. She said it was. I reminded her who I was and when she treated my family. I then asked her for a partial refund. She began talking a mile a minute. She cut me off, talked over me, and refused to refund any of my money. She told me it was my choice to go to another company for service. She claimed to be in business for 15 years and to never have receive a single complaint. She claimed she told me the retreatment would be free and that she would "only charge" for the recheck. I told her I was going to dispute the charge. She told me to go right ahead and that she has a lawyer. Did I yell at that point? Yes I did. I then hung up the phone because she would not let me talk. She just kept blaming me, talking over me, and refusing to admit fault or offer any sort of refund.
