Lice. That is a topic that doesn't get spoken about in public much. It has such a stigma attached to it but for those of us that have children, its a very poignant issue. One of my girls picked up the bugs somewhere then eventually both got it. I did what probably 99% of people do.... panic, curse then run to the nearest drug store and buy $80 worth of RID or no lice or some over the counter shampoo and combs and sprays and such. Then go home and start washing heads and begin the nit picking process. All after working a full day, still have to make dinner, kids are grumpy with a S ton of homework to do. Ugh! And the really screwed up part is if the picking isn't done correctly, the eggs will hatch and the whole thing has to get done again. ARGH! Well that is exactly what happened to us. (echo) It was a painful embarrassing call to make but only in my head. The lovely staff at Nitpicking NOLA live for this. They scheduled for a "technician" to come over the next day at 5:30 pm. The nice lady indeed showed up on the dot. Very friendly and had a air of "non judgmental" around her. She (Shannon) was also cool with my dogs swirling around the new friend. Shannon set up shop in the kitchen, where there is the most light and started on the main girl first. I was watching closely to see what I was doing wrong and by the looks of it, everything. She had done this who knows how many times. She was removing a bunch of bugs!! My head is itching now thinking about it. After the comb thru, then she applied a proprietary shampoo they use and sent my daughter upstairs to rinse out. After , she combed her hair again. Eventually, to be sure, we all got checked. Part of the service is a visit a week later to recheck heads, and if needed, another treatment. Another jewel of them is the myth busting they provide to help calm nerves. Myth #1. The dirty hair / clean hair story means nothing. They will jump on any head that is human and has hair to cling to. Also any race too. White kids, black kids, brown kids can all get lice. The important part, the cost. Lets say that if I would of used Nitpicking in NOLA first instead of last, I would of saved around 4 tons or aggravation and $150 from the retreating that I had to do by going the drug store route. If I would of used Christina and her staff first, I would of been done with the stress weeks early and maintained my lazy stance and leave it up to the pros. Make no mistake, she is a pro!! The problem today is that the lice have become resistant to the drugstore remedies and even after multiple treatments of NIX and RID some of the eggs will still hatch containing "super lice". The "super lice" problem has been scientifically proven, and the only definitive way to eliminate lice now is to get all the nits out. Even the prescription strength medicine doesn't penetrate all the eggs! So it was a welcome relief to have this service come in and with their professionals and we can finally sleep well knowing that all critters and their eggs are gone for good. read more

Absolute waste of money $165 for a treatment for my daughter and to check wife and son (who were clean). Then another $40 to come check me at work in order to get the "21 day guarantee". The scare tactics they use just about force you to get the 21 day guarantee. Then they come back for a second check 5 days later at an additional $40 in order to get the "21 day guarantee. Soooo $245 to do the same thing a $25 kit from Walgreens does. Will not get fooled on that one again. Btw, the only thing she actually did was basically the same treatment you get from Walgreens. Everything else was instructions to make sure to was the bed sheets and stick stuffed animals in the dryer for 0 min on high. Nothing! Christina and Michelle were a God-send. On the fourth day of fighting the good fight and receiving yet another call from my dauther's school saying to pick her up (again) because another nit was found, I called Nitpicking in NOLA and Michelle was at my daughter's school in 20 minutes!
