PROS: They truly care about my Winnie, the cameras are a real benefit to be able check-in at any point during the day, the app is really easy to use, and coming here really helped my dog feel more comfortable and confident around other dogs and the staff helped her at her own pace. I love knowing she's being taken care of all day while I'm at work, if I end up having to stay late, I can do so guilt-free. CONS: A lot of dogs just pee inside instead of waiting for outside time, so she comes home smelling like pee. They keep mops in the play area and have a little clean-up station in reception, but she still needs something a little more intense once we get home at night. No Leash Needed is truly a life saver. No matter what's happening and how busy I am, it's always nice to know that they're an option for my pup! Since I work from home, it's nice to know that I can give my pup a change of scenery while I'm busy on calls. I've been taking my dog Eddie to No Leash since he was a puppy. We initially started out in Rock Hill, since I used to live in Kirkwood. I now live in South City, and this is conveniently located on Hampton. I have only used No Leash for day camp, so I can't speak to an experience of boarding. Make note that you have to have your pup screened through an assessment before they are permitted to attend camp, so call first! Making a reservation is super simple I can say that I always feel like Eddie is in good hands when I drop him off. He's always incredibly excited to see the building when we pull into the parking lot. We go in, and they take him to the back. From my tour when we initially became members, they have amazing play areas that are divided by dog size. There are outdoor areas and tons of spots for them to run and play. We sent our ~1 year old Berner to No Leash Needed for the 2 week training program - and we were so impressed with the results! He's improved in every single behavior we wanted him to work on. The trainers were great up front about learning what WE cared about vs. using a standard training curriculum. (For instance, if you don't care your dog is jumping up on you when you come home, they don't care either! If it bothers you, though, they'll train it right out of them.) They sent daily "report cards" with how he did, what they worked on, and what the homework for the night was (generally 5-10 minutes of practice). Our dog is SO MUCH better at the things we were worried about (specifically not mouthing, not jumping, loose leash walking) - and they gave us so many strategies to try on our own, too. Cheyenne worked with him a lot and clearly had developed a bond with him, too. They train your dogs but they also love them. Our only regret is that we didn't send him earlier to the "Puppy Preschool" classes! If and when we get another pup, we are 100% confident that we will send it to NLN as soon as we can. read more

Your change in boarding prices is absolutely disgusting. The defense that it's more competitive pricing is nonsense unless you're talking about the breed-discriminating Kennelwood. The defense about "more individualized care" is also nonsense. Daycare was a part of the boarding package, if someone wants "extras", make them extra. You're asking me to pay $33/day just to give me the "service" of letting you leave my dog in a kennel all day except for potty breaks. I might as well "board" her back at the Humane Society. I originally felt No Leash Needed was upstanding and genuinely concerned about the animals' happiness and safety first and foremost. But now I see the business is interested in squeezing out loyal customers for an extra buck. I think you'll see a host of business leaving based on this absurd pricing model. No leash needed is hands down the best dog daycare in the Saint Louis area!! Not only do I love it but Azura (my puppy) LOVES it! Azura started to attend NLN when she was 6 months old where she started off with Puppy Training. Her Trainer Jen was beyond AMAZING and really worked with my energetic princess of a puppy! Loved the fact that is was one on one sessions also with Azura being able to attend daycare afterwards. Before the training Azura would constantly jump up on people and never "stay"when telling her to and all other things stubborn puppies do. After her 2 weeks class Azura knew to sit, stay, down, leave it , place (which is my favorite when she is begging at the dinner table I just tell her place and she goes right to her bed). Does Azura sometimes like to let whatever I say to her go in one ear and out the other? Of course but that is something all puppies do and I just make sure to redirect her when I notice that. Puppy preschool was by far the best money spent! Totally worth it!! Once training was over I realized how well taken care of Azura was at NLN and how much she LOVED going there I decided to send her for daycare everyday while I am at work/school. She even goes to the door between 6:50am-7am because she knows it's time to go to NLN. Wagging her tail and all chipper in the morning. She plays all day there by the time I get her home she just wants to snuggle and pass out. Also, NLN has such an amazing Staff! Anytime I drop off or pick up Azura, Lisa Chelsea and Shannon are always at the front desk very welcoming, know exactly who I am and who I am there to pick up and they go right back to grab Azura. They are all super outgoing. Always ask how my day is going and just make small talk. I brought my 3 year old Bichon/Shih Tzu mixed to NLN for 2 weeks of day training and the results were amazing! Larry is a very stubborn dog and for the last 3 years has been in complete control of me. The only "trick" he knew was to sit when bribed with food and even then, he would not do it all the time. I thought he was a lost cause and came to NLN as a last ditch effort. In just one week Larry seemed like a whole new dog. He now knows many commands and is barking less and listening to me more! Jenn set my expectations well and made it clear that in order for training to be successful, I had to follow through and continue working with Larry at home. She made me realize that this was just as much, if not more, about me learning that it was Larry. Larry and I practiced every night and on the weekends and I have truly seen improvement every day. I'm looking forward to taking advantage of the free month of group training so Larry and I can continue having the support of the NLN staff! "who's on first base?" This will be your experience at No Leash Needed on Hampton. The only semi-reasonable adult is the manager, Lisa, and that is questionable. Everyone else working at No Leash Needed is 22-25 years old. I have no idea if any staff member is certified to work with dogs, etc. You will notice No Leash Needed will not tell you if anyone has any certifications to work with animals. I paid $400 for puppy pre-school and never received information as to what my puppy would learn, even though I asked. I was informed my puppy would be transported to another facility for training, since there is more "space and equipment at the other location". This never happened. I informed the manager Lisa and co-manager Chelsea that my puppy was having trouble adjusting to their 4-hour training program per day (my puppy did not want to enter the establishment which was unusual) and I wanted training decreased to 2-3 hours. They refused and said "we will give Denver more naps". Excuse me?? This is my dog and sometimes one formula does not fit all. Then I was charged a late fee for picking up my puppy after 12pm the night after boarding him, even though I paid $400 for puppy preschool and he should have been in training until 530pm. After a few inquiries about the late fee the manager finally acknowledged I was charged incorrectly and I would be issued a 'credit" to use in the future. REALLY?? Who makes a mistake on an invoice and issues a store credit?? Fast forward, the manager Lisa tells me I will received "free" puppy training classes since I participated in puppy pre-school. Chelsea, the co-manager tells me I need to pay $30 in order to attend puppy training classes even though I paid for puppy pre-school. Again, mixed messages.."who's on 1st base?". The final straw came after I noticed a small sign in the window warning dog owners about a dog flu outbreak in Chicago (I knew about this for a month). So I confessed to Lisa that Denver and I were in Chicago a few weeks ago during a drop-off at 730am. Lisa responded by EXCITEDLY telling me "we may not be able to keep Denver!!" (although Denver spent the entire week at No Leash Needed after the trip to Chicago) and then Lisa began peppering me with random questions for which 5 out of 8 made no sense "did your dog use grass where other dogs may have been while in Chicago?" REALLY? (blank stare) They must not travel often, Chicago is a huge city and most live in apartments and walk dogs outside, no yards. Plus Chicago has millions of residents and millions of dogs. Yes, it is unfortunate 5-6 dogs died. But I did what I could to protect my dog while in Chicago, no dog parks - no dog day care (not that I had time for either during a 3-day trip). I told my vet what happened and he even laughed, then advised I find a new daycare. No Leash Needed never sent emails to members warning them against the dog flu and never said if your dog has been to Chicago they may not be allowed. IF YOU DON'T PUT THIS IN WRITING, DON'T BULLY YOUR CUSTOMERS AFTER THE FACT! GET A POLICY AND PLAN IN PLACE FIRST. And Facebook doesn't count, not everyone utilizes the site - I for one do not. I would offer my legal/consulting services but my rate is $375 per hour and apparently No Leash Needed could use the money to hire a manager to oversee operations. Lucky for me, I noticed their total incompetence a few weeks ago and already started interviewing other daycare facilities. Like I told the manager "your thinking is a** backwards"..come to the 21st century with the rest of America. read more

There are around 30- 40 dogs in the yard and they keep the staff who supervise dogs as low as possible in order to maximize profits so they can only accept dogs that are small or older or aren't very high energy (labs, goldies, huskies). read more

All of the staff are so friendly and love her like their own - especially Cate and April. She just finished puppy boot camp with Jen and our stubborn little Frenchie actually follows commands. We adopted our dog Oliver about 5 months ago and when we got him we noticed that he was extremely apprehensive of other males in his presence, especially ones with beards. We knew quickly that we had to get him into training to give him the life he deserves. In doing our research we came across No Leash Needed and could not be happier that we chose their training services. Oliver has completely gotten over his fear of men and loves everyone now and we cannot thank Cheyenne enough for this. She was more than happy to work with him in off site areas and getting him used to men on a near by construction site. He is a completely different dog from when we got him and he is trained very well,too. We would gladly recommend Cheyenne and her team to anyone for any type of training because you can see the love and passion in everything they do. I have a 2 year old German Shepard mix that is extremely high energy and has a lot of anxiety. I wanted to take him to a daycare center to give him an outlet while I am at work. I started by taking him to another daycare center, that I will not name, but it didn't work out. It was a very large area with a lot of dogs, and my dog did not do well. He would try and escape, and it only made his anxiety worse. This daycare center could not address this problem because they were looking after so many dogs. So I tried NLN, and I have never looked back. You will not find a place that gives more individual attention, care, and accommodation to your pet. After the first day of daycare, I spoke with their manager, Lisa, for quite some time about my dogs behavior and she was able to tell me about his anxiety problems and how they were able to address them (he has never had an incident of being aggressive with other dogs or people). They tailored his daycare experience to best suit him, and when I pick him up he is happy, content, and calm. I plan on continuing to use them and hope to start training classes with them as well. I would recommend them to anybody. My only complaint, although it's not really a complaint, is that I only wish they posted more pictures of the dogs at day camp! read more

I scheduled a consultation with my 5 year old beagle mix that has anxiety issues and needed some additional obedience training. I just adopted a rescue and wanted to have them both trained, but thought it would be best to have them trained separately. I was running a few minutes late after work so I called to inform them, the trainer sounded annoyed on the phone and was short with me. When she met with us she asked some questions from a questionaire and then recommended their 2 week training course that also included daycare. The price was $800. At that time, although steep, I was willing to pay if I knew it would have gotten me the results I really needed! The only issue was I couldn't get my dog Lucy there any later than 6:15 am b/c of my work schedule.The girl said the earliest anyone could get there was 630 am. I asked if there were any other options, like could I bring her later in the day and do half days or something else. She said she wasn't sure but would find out and give me a call back the following day...that was several weeks ago and I'm still waiting for a response...I seriously can't believe a place like this that charges premium rates has such POOR customer service! It's unfortunate that a business owner would miss out on any amount of profit due to the fact that the staff doesn't care enough to call a potential new client back...unfortunately for No Leash Needed I will be taking my fur babies and my business elsewhere, where I plan on spending as much money as needed to give my puppies the best care and training available. read more

We signed up for 2 week training for our Cockapoo and we were so happy with our experience! Before the training, we were brought in for a consultation so we could go over our puppy, Lupo's, personality and goals. During our two week training the hours to drop Lupo off and pick him up were very convenient and everyone at No Leash Needed was so friendly and helpful. We received a report card and homework for Lupo everyday that was always very detailed as to what he was working on, what he did good at, and what would need extra work. Lupo loved all of his trainers and enjoyed playing with the other dog's in between his training sessions. As new dog owners, we also really appreciated the training sessions where we got to go in with our dog and learn the proper way to train him at home. We have been taking our boarder collie Chloe to daycare 1-2 times a week for the last 4 years. That place was a mad house. We decided to take our pup elsewhere. We found NLN because of a co worker. When I first called for more information the person on the phone was so nice and really took the time to listen to my concerns and explain the way they work. I was emailed the new client paperwork. It was all very easy. I quickly called to set up an evaluation. Upon arrival to the evaluation I instantly knew I would be in love. The staff are all so friendly. The lobby is beautiful with a big shopping area(I love shopping for goodies for my Chlo-dog! ) in the lobby is a training area that is gated off. I saw a staff member working with a pup, he was so patient! I toured their facilities and loved what i saw. They separate the dogs by size and activity level. I got the sense that they really take the time to care for the dogs. At her last place it was pretty much a free for all, NLN seems to have a lot more control over the dogs. I set up our trial run. It went great! They sent home a report card, which was so cute. My whole experience has been amazing and I highly recommend NLN! read more

In the past I had taken him to other daycares and felt he didn't come as tired. I always skip the nap with my dog because he has boundless amounts of energy. Our first experience at No Leash Needed was bringing our new puppy to the free puppy socialization time. The puppies got to run around and wrestle, and learn how to play nice with other dogs. Jen (the trainer) was there to answer questions, and she gave advice on how to stop the puppy biting and chewing that we were dealing with. She was very knowledgeable, and all the puppies loved her. We signed up for the group puppy classes, where our pup learned the basics of sit, stay, place, and come. We also learned ways to deter the puppy from jumping on every new person she met. The dog was always so excited to go to No Leash, we started joking that she liked Jen better than she liked us. Our puppy grew up to be a 70 pound ball of energy, and she got so big and strong, I could barely control her on her leash when she was excited (which was most of the time). So we called Jen to see if she could help. We bought a package of classes to focus specifically on getting her to walk nicely on a leash. In addition to the classes, Jen gave us specific things to work on and practice at home. After six weeks, I was finally able to take my dog on a walk without her dragging me across the park. During class, Jen would try different types of training collars on our dog to see what was the most effective. It was nice to test them out in class without having to buy things that were not going to work for us. We've also been huge fans of the day care and boarding. We take our dog to day camp every Wednesday to give her a mid-week break and burn off some energy. She loves going to "school" and is always super excited when we drop her off, and she's happy and tired when we pick her up. No Leash does not allow dogs with a bad temperament, so we never have to worry that she's going to get hurt. It's also great to see pictures of our dog on Facebook while we are on vacation. If I had to come up with a complaint, it would be the shorter Sunday hours for boarding pickup; we sometimes find ourselves rushing on the last day of a long weekend so we can get back to town on time. read more

NLN is hands down THE BEST in STL! Herman (my mini-Doxie) has tried all the surrounding day camps but we keep coming back to NLN. The dogs are separated by size and constantly monitored. The owners are constantly upgrading the facilities which are clean and safe (unlike the other surrounding day-camps) and the pricing is MORE than fair! When I was having aggression issues with Herman - NLN trainers where there to help get him back on track. When I had an unruly neighbor threatening to hurt Herman, NLN was instrumental in helping me keep my dog safe by coming up with a plan should an emergency arise. I tell ALL of my clients/friends about this place. It's really fun to take Herman out and see him run into a friend he know from "school". The value of this place is immeasurable! Jen and all the trainers are just incredible! While Jen called the nervous parents at the evaluation, Shiann played with our boy, and we all felt very comfortable and heard. I love taking my dog to No Leash Needed. We always have such a positive experience. The staff takes the time to learn the dogs and owners by name and really pays attention to each dog individually while they're there. It never smells like dog when you walk in, it's clean, and my dog comes home exhausted. We had to try out a couple other daycare/boarding facilities once when they were full for boarding and had terrible experiences. We used to like this location until our recent visit. My dog is up to date with all the vaccines and is very good with day camp and boarding. She has sensitive skins and can only use a prescribed dog shampoo that I got from our vet. When I took her in, I specifically told the staff at the reception that we would like a nail trim during her time here and NOT a bath. I had bathed her right before we went boarding so she's all clean and fluffy. When I picked her up, I double checked with the staff to see if they had trimmed her nails because based on my prior experience they sometimes forget to do it. The staff confirmed that for me. But when my dog came out, she was bathed, still wet, and with nails so long that they made a sound while she's walking. Other than that, she had a huge pile of goop on her right eye. She also stopped eating when she got back, and the goops and discharges around her right eye was getting worse. On the report card they sent me a day later, everything was perfect. They also told me on the card that I should get my dog a bath next time. Apparently I don't have to since they've already forced it on us. I am so disappointed at how they lied to us and their unparalleled ignorance for all of our requests. I recommend every dog owner to think twice before sending your dogs here. If you do, I hope they can treat yours right. As for us, we are not coming back. read more

We absolutely love No Leash Needed! We enrolled our 16 week lab puppy in the 2 week Puppy Preschool program and he has excelled. The trainers are amazing, and Maverick took to them so well. They personalize the training depending on how quickly/slowly your pup is progressing. After the two weeks, Maverick learned multiple commands, sit, down, place, come, greeting people etc. We now have the tools and knowledge we need to continue working with him at home. The trainers are very helpful with at home issues, too, (biting, house training, etc.) giving you advice and suggestions to try.
