My son adopted Ginger through Hope's Haven when they were in Dayton. He had her for a week and…read moresuddenly, she got really big so he took her to a vet and yes, Ginger was pregnant. Hope's Haven offered to take Ginger back but Michael was already very attached to her. Ginger had 10 puppies 10 days after he had adopted her. Hope's Haven offered to take Ginger and the puppies back but Michael with my help for a couple of weeks, kept them for 2 months then took them to to Petco or Pet-smart, can't remember which, and Hope's Haven placed them with people or families. They sell the puppies for $200.00 each and Michael very generously let them keep the money because, of course, this money helps to cover their overhead. We kept two of the puppies, Pearl and Ruby. After a few months, my son changed jobs so his time with Ginger was going to be far less so I brought her to live with us on our five acres of natural forest of fir, maple and oak trees We already had Angus, our big lab/mastiff mix. I had already spent a lot of time with Ginger so she was very, very happy living with us and she fell in love with Angus. That was eleven years ago but sadly, our beautiful Angus died of bone cancer almost three years ago. Anyway, Hope's Haven is a great place to adopt or give very young puppies to for placement. The puppies were of age to receive the flea medication and I jnfor.aed Marsha and Jackie I was very concerned about the flea infestation and Marsha said she does not use medine on puppies, even when I told her it was recommended by the veterinarian. They said they will give the puppies a bath and will not take them to the vet. We won't support this organization any longer. They immediately blocked me on Facebook so I couldn't leave a review there.

Know before you go: 1) Oregon Humane Society is one of very…read morefew shelters that I have visited that supply ear plugs for visitors to use. May I suggest that you use them when entering dog adoption kennels. The kennels can get very noisy. 2) Meet and greet areas are available for you to get up close and personal with the dogs. 3) One of the keys to a successful dog adoption is finding one whose energy level matches your own. A high energy dog and medium to low energy owner is not a good match. 4) Basic obedience training is a very, very good thing. Believe me, you don't want to be the one chasing your happy-go-lucky dog down a busy street after it got loose! The recall command (come) can literally save your dog's life.

But we know what's wrong because we are living in it. Even "Willing to pay..." doesn't motivate a socialist to help or to get you in contact with something anything that CAN help THE PEOPLE who are certified as NEEDING HELP. SOMEONE HELP. (Or communicate with them through email if you have financial difficulties and need to try to request a discount.) The staff was friendly. In our experience, it was difficult getting 3 kittens spayed on the same day because of the need to supervise them all, but also keep them separated. After a few hours the kittens wanted to jump and climb (they were unfortunately not lethargic) but they were loopy, clumsy and desperate to escape whatever room they were confined to. So we ended up keeping them confined in extra large dog crates. And the cones they send you home with (so they can't lick) are impossible to use on cats. They fight and scratch the cones like they're being tormented, sometimes getting them off, and sometimes getting their bottom jaw stuck in them. We didn't get much sleep that first night. Do yourself a favor and buy a surgery recovery suit, aka, cat onesie, online in advance of your appointment. Maybe even get a few different sizes & return the ones that don't fit. After these little cat onesies arrived from Amazon it was so much better! They can no longer lick their bellies, and it magically made them more subdued because they did not like walking around wearing a onesie. Get the kind designed for cats that have a u-shaped opening at the bottom so they can still use the litter box. (It might take the cat a while to realize she can still walk, and can still use the litter box, lol.) SO our first 24 hours was a nightmare (including one kitten wailing the entire drive home and for many hours after getting home) but after we figured out a setup in our home that could work, and putting them in the cat onesies, it all got so much easier.

When we brought Romie in, she was unable to get up or walk. The doctor and staff were incredibly thorough and quick to determine what was happening. During an ultrasound, they discovered that she had a very large splenic tumor that was actively bleeding. Their knowledge, urgency, and compassion gave us the answers we needed during an incredibly difficult and emotional time. Everyone who cared for Romie went above and beyond. They treated her with such gentleness and dignity, while also treating us with an incredible amount of compassion and understanding. When it became clear that we needed to say goodbye to our girl, they gave us the time and privacy we needed to be with her. That kindness meant more to us than we can ever adequately express. Veterinary medicine providers do not receive nearly enough recognition for the difficult and deeply emotional work they do every day. They care for animals when they are at their most vulnerable, while also supporting families through some of their most painful moments. We will always be grateful to Dr. Williams and every member of the staff who assisted in Romie's care. Thank you for taking such good care of our girl and for showing so much kindness and compassion to our family when we needed it most. Your care and kindness will never be forgotten.
