While we waited for our 5:30 dinner reservation we sat by the quiet pond perusing a Genesee county tourism magazine. There were several wooden Adirondack chairs surrounding the pond and we enjoyed the quiet sounds of nature and birds chirping. The dinner was a multi-course, in-room dining experience. Each course was brought to a tray outside our door, and they would knock and leave the food there. You bring into your room and don't have to talk with anyone. Food was great! Breakfast was brought to our door the next morning (it's served between 8-9), and check-out is 10:30. Overall we had a great experience. I generally prefer a less homey feel, but the Rose Garden was quite nice. Flowers adorned the entrance and spilled over into a beautiful backyard garden, giving the place a lovely, homey feel. As for breakfast, the breakfast was delicious. It was delicious with just the right balance of decadence and moderation. The first morning we had blueberry waffles, cooked to absolute perfection, with grilled pineapple and a small side of scramble eggs. Lou has a passion for cooking and it is shows through in the breakfast. As for the bed, the bed was, unfortunately, the most uncomfortable I have slept on in recent memory. We stayed in the English Rose Room. We had a roomy king-sized bed, but I had to move to the day bed to sleep because the bed was just too uncomfortable. It was too hard, yet not quite supportive. I am a sensitive sleeper and have a great bed at home, so everyone may not have this experience. I did, however. We found that the problem could be solved by sleeping on top of the blankets for an added level of comfort. I think a feather bed or a new mattress would make this the perfect B&B in Rochester. If you can sleep on a hard, inner-spring mattress, you will absolutely love this place.

I've stayed in other B&Bs where the bed was uncomfortable. Nothing ruins a vacation faster than an uncomfortable bed. The B&B is located in an old 7 bedroom Victorian house. I guess that is supposed to add "charm". I was a little concerned as we approached. The house and porch were were covered in peeling paint. I guess that when the house was last painted it was not properly prepped, as it does not seem that it should be peeling that much. I was concerned I hard booked a complete dump. The first impression was definitely NOT impressive. Once inside, things were MUCH nicer. The house was a little stuffy, but we are in that transitional winter/spring period. It's May, but spring has come very late this year. The first nigh, I could not sleep, even with the open window, because I was too hot; the last night, the heat kicked in. I did not see any window air conditioners and the house does not appear to have central air. The weather is in transition so, perhaps there will be air conditioning later in the season. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: * Comfortable bed * Clean * Breakfast was pretty good. The innkeeper cooked for us each day. She served a lot of turkey sausage, which was not very good. Eggs and fruit and yogurt were fine though. * Cute, quaint town with easy access to a trail along Lake Erie. * Fair nightly rate * Friendly innkeeper. Cons: * Lots of clutter. I guess some people find it charming to have old yellowed period clothing and photos in the room. I do not. There were also lots of chairs to trip over in the common space. There were also way too many pillows, both on the bed and the chairs in the room. * Ticking clock next to the bed. This made it impossible to sleep. I eventually had to hide the clock to sleep. Who puts a ticking clock in a bedroom? * The nightlight in the bathroom was far too bright and was disruptive to sleep. It eventually had to be moved. I think we'd come back, but we'd need to be very specific in our breakfast requests or just plan to eat elsewhere. I'd also have to bring a nightlight.

Tried the website first, but it seems to work only for the coffee shop - no times after 1 pm. I called the hotel, and the desk clerk took my information and promised to get it to the rest. mgr. After 3 days with no reply, I called the rest. directly, and got voicemail - they promised to respond within 24 hrs. After 3 more days with no reply, I cancelled the hotel reservation.

This includes checking in and any other needs you may have during your stay. This hotel only has 4 hotel room units (located on the 3rd floor) to book for your stay and each room has their own theme. So booking in advance is a must. Also when booking you get to choose the room you would like to stay in. Unlike franchise hotel chains, there is no front desk, bell boys, lobby, or swimming pool areas. This may not appeal to the traditional family vacation travelers, this is more of a couples getaway. This building is shared with other businesses such as, the Attorneys office of Webster Schubel Meier (2nd floor). Shirt factory and the tasting meadery room of Meadworks ( both on the 1st floor). I loved the fact we had to be self reliant, but as independent as we were. We still had available to us customer service all being available through their texting service. The room was quite nice. I really like the simple old world look with a touch of modern styling. The room came with a mini fridge, cable tv, and Wi-Fi. There was no microwave or kitchen area, but there is a area in the hallway with a microwave to use. The bed was nice and comfortable as well as the pillows. The 4 large windows was a nice feature as well, having the light shine in was great. Being on the 3rd floor we had a great view of the village, and the farmers market (every Saturday). Looking forward to coming back.
