With my rediscovery of the delights of the South London Gallery this is fast becoming my local cafe of choice. I dropped in last week after a spending an hour, or maybe it was two, at the Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard exhibition "PUBLICSFEAR". It's quite a demanding round up of their work so I was more than happy to stumble out of the gloom in the main gallery and into the welcoming arms of the lovely staff at cafe No 67. The cafe is situated in the restored terraced house which the gallery has expanded into over the past year or two. There is a large dining table out back, a wonderful light and spacious room which looks out to the garden. This room can be booked for private parties or shared with others during the day. In the cafe itself there are 8 or so tables for couples, which can be joined together if you are in a larger group. For when the weather improves, or if you are in need of a smoke, there are also a few tables in the garden which is very fragrant space with a lovely selection of herbs. There are also some outside tables at the front of the cafe, which is a little more urban. Excellent coffee is provided by the Union company and the staff here make a great skinny latte but on this occasion I was feeling a little shaky and I was after something a little stronger. After half an hour in the dark with the music of J Spaceman and subliminal messaging from Mr Forsyth and Ms Pollard I needed a beer . after toying with the idea of a Modelo I went straight for a bottle of Vedett and a portion of the very comforting Welsh rarebit. The food menu here covers all your needs from morning to evening, with a well edited selection to suit all tastes. If you are hungry and in the mood for brunch I can particularly recommend the "Spanglish" which comes with chargrilled chorizo and morcilla; be careful though because it's a bit of a gut buster and this could ruin you for lunch. If you are after something lighter the soup is always good and filling; I recently had a lovely bowl of leek and cider soup with some tasty bread on the side which I am still trying to recreate in my own kitchen. Small plates and sandwiches are also available if you don't feel like a full on lunch. However, if you are in the mood for a proper feast you will not be disappointed. There is a regularly changing selection of 4 or 5 main dishes, all around the £8 mark, which are well executed, beautifully presented and come with some interesting accompaniments. Slow cooked lamb, jerk chicken, fish pie and venison have all been on the menu on my recent visits. I have never made it to dessert but the cakes and pastries are baked in the kitchen, look wonderful and seem to be very popular. There is a small selection of interesting and very well priced wines and a good range of soft drinks and smoothies. As you would imagine, being housed in an art gallery and right next door to Camberwell Art College the punters here are generally an interesting bunch and it's a great spot for people watching. With a good free wifi connection and an excellent book shop next door this is an great place to let a couple of hours slip through your fingers. Unfortunately for my pals with young sprogs this is not a spot best suited to accommodating small children and buggies although I have seen a few try to struggle in at the weekend. I feel very lucky to have this lovely cafe on my door step and I'm looking forward to giving it a try as an evening destination. If you're a foodie art lover who has wandered south of the river this should be top of your "must try" list. read more

I go here quite often in the mornings because it opens early - very nice! It is a little hidden which makes the ambience rather chilled, you feel as if you have discovered a little treasurer. The baristas are friendly and the coffee is good - both cappuccino and plain. I will go here again! read more

The slightly too cool for school gallery attached to the slightly too cool for school Camberwell Arts College finally gets the slightly too cool for school gallery it deserves. That sounds slightly disparaging, and I don't mean to be, it's actually a lovely place to pass an hour over coffee, cake or a healthy, organic, locally sourced bite, if you can get a table. Great coffee, a selection of quality home made cakes and a selection of light bites; salads, quiches, risottos and the like. The also have an excellent sounding 'Spanglish' breakfast that I need to try at some point. As you'd expect from an art gallery, the design is excellent, it's a pity there are so few seats and the arty crowd of Camberwell (with attendant babies) have to queue for so long. read more

I've only been for breakfast, never for other meals. So, yep, that's the pre-review disclaimer. Now for the review: No 67 is...No 1 in my books! (Eh, eh? SEEWHATIDID?) It's a delightful spot with a changing menu. It's small, it's cozy, although it's not actually _that_ small...it's just spread out into various distinct spots. If you're worried about crowds target the summer months when there is seating outside (to-go coffees available here, too, along with St. John's donuts!), and around back, as well as the "front" and the "back" dining spaces. The coffee is good. Not great, but good. I appreciate that for something like my brunch go-to - the flat white - there is the option to order either a small or a large. I also appreciate the freely flowing pitchers of water that have an added sprig or three of herb and chunk or two of citrus. My go-to are the options on sourdough toast. Mushrooms on toast are perfectly cooked and just-right levels of creamy. Scrambled eggs are soft but still firm (EXACTLY HOW I LOVE) and salted perfectly. I like mine with smoked salmon, but rashers of bacon are also an accompaniment on offer (both at 7.50). Full English, veggie breakfasts and Spanish riffs on the full breakfast plates are also popular. As is the massive berry smoothie. Oh, and the cakes. Did I mention the cakes? GET ONE, GET MANY. Service is lovely, the space is nice, and when done, why not pop up and poke around the galleries a little, yeah? Yeah. Sounds like a killer Sunday. Time of Visit: 3pm I read a review on Timeout (due to lack of time) that the food and coffee is a must-try and it functions as a cafe. I assumed one should expect to be able to order food apart from snacks? I was served by one of two employees, who look frenzied and told me there's no more food. Hence I ordered a macchiato. After 30 secs of waiting at the counter, I realised they assumed I wanted to take out. They told me to sit down. Service isn't tops if you are expecting the norm from a cafe. There is Wifi but I did not bother to ask if I could use it. I'm sure if you have some spare time you might want to travel to Camberwell just to try this place out - if not, leave it and search for others. read more

Well just got back from a Christmas dinner here and it was massivly disappointing. The only reason i am giving it two stars is because the service was good and I have been here before and got a decent lunch. However I just got back £56 lighter and felt a little hurt at the price, the meal was £35 plus a few drinks and a £5.60 10% tip. I mean it is christmas and i do expect to pay about that much for 3 courses and drinks but it just hurts when you know you could've knocked up something better in a short while in the kitchen. Beetroot cured salmon & dill crème fraiche - Literally just that. No capers, not with a nice bread or some other tasty treat to contrast the fish, nothing, just 2 slices of salmon. The salmon was nice but really, so uninspired. Jerusalem & baby artichoke stew with slow roast tomatoes - Bland, light tomato flavour with a hint of chili but not reduced enough, no other flavours, hardly any seasoning and worst of all the potatos were undercooked and hard. Side of undercooked sprouts Steamed marmalade pudding & whisky custard - The best sish of the three but still very dull. The sponge was a little dry, funny when it was steamed. Perhaps with marmalade it doesn't soak in as well as say a treakle sponge. Sadly a let down read more

Lovely atmosphere and great coffee. A little hidden gem on Peckham High St and a great excuse to visit the South London Gallery. The service was very polite and the food decent, nothing amazing but well done and nothing I could fault. The large dining area the back is beautiful. Worth a look if you are in the area. read more

You can get waffles with bacon on top, service is friendly, and the prices are not totally ridiculous. One minus is that there are a lot of smokers in the outdoor seating area. read more

Tasty brunches and lovely environment. The bread is so delicious that I would happily just eat it on its own with a bit of butter. It's a bit on the expensive side considering all the options you get in Camberwell and Peckham these days. I love love that the it's next room to an art exhibition so you get a bit of culture on the side too. I have to say the only annoying thing is the long wait and slow service which hopefully can be improved. read more

Really nice restaurant with great seasonal dishes. Looking at just over a tenner for a main and well worth it! The tables are set up in the victorian converted houses next to the Art College, so there is a homely and relax feel to the place. Staff were friendly and there's the odd piece of art work to peruse. Nice little garden out back too. Recommended! read more

I come in here a couple of times a week for lunch. I don't know why I bother as the service is terrible. Food and ambience are lovely but let down by the staff. They are often sat around chatting or shuffling things about,- rather than attending to the customers. It takes a long time to get anything and it seems unnecessary especially when its quiet. read more
