Elite's quote for materials and labor was not the most expensive nor the least, but when going through our house, Aleksey thought of questions, spotted issues, AND thought of solutions that no one else had asked about or even noticed. He was also the only one who told us that he could carefully remove our elaborate wooden baseboards without breaking most or all of them. Every other place simply said we would likely need to replace it all. As a result, their pricing was actually lower than anyone else if you take into account the cost we saved by not having to replace one single piece of baseboard. He was meticulous, measuring three times before ordering materials just to make sure he got the numbers right. Installation went smoothly and included work like grinding down areas of our foundation that were not smooth, moisture testing, coating of the slab with a moisture barrier, etc. They also made sure they installed the wood in a manner that will allow the kitchen appliances to be removed without damaging the floor, when the time comes that they need to be replaced. Again, no one else we spoke with even mentioned any of this. There were transitions between floorings of some rooms that were at different heights. For some of the areas, Aleksey did not care for the off the shelf transitions that companies sell. Instead, he and his crew crafted their own transition pieces & thresholds that looked beautiful and did the job. Far more elegant and unintrusive. They did the same for the transitions between stone surrounding fireplaces and one bathroom. Everything was carefully thought through. The guys showed up at 8 AM and sometimes worked until 5 or 6 pm if they were trying to get certain things done. They were professional, knowledgeable, friendly, polite and cleaned up after themselves. Communication with Aleksey was always good. Elite Hardwood & Flooring is not simply an installation company. They are craftsmen that take a great deal of pride in their work and the results show it. We could not be happier with the job they did and highly recommend them. Last year we bought hardwood floor from them for our Kitchen--A couple of weeks ago an Appliance Repair Guy scratched our floor and I wanted to see if we could repair the floor instead of changing the whole thing--I called Carlos there and he was very nice and said our floor was discontinued but he had a couple of boxes that we could come get them--He said that since our floor was a year old the boards might not match if that was the case he would return them for us--We went to the store and they loaded the boxes in my car. The boxes were very old and not in good shape and were slightly opened on the ends of the boxes--We unloaded them and waited for the contractor--When the contractor arrived of course he pulled one board out of each box to make sure there were no stains on the Maple Wood--Once they pulled these couple boards out it was discovered that they were severely damaged and the color of these the boards in these boxes were different than what I have on my floor--I immediately texted Carlos and he texted me to bring the 2 boxes back for a full refund--I still have the text message on my phone---He was very nice and said no problem. When I arrived at the store, the employee at the Counter was extremely rude and immediately started talking down to me as if I was a student in her classroom--I nicely explained the issue and showed her the text message from Carlos and she started talking to me down again and said well I am not taking them back! I was flabbergasted! I have never seen any retailer act like this! Home Depot, Lowe's, etc would never act like this--She brought our her Manager Quinn and she told him to back her up even though she was wrong and of course, that is exactly what he did---They made no attempt to resolve this or make me feel good as a customer who put my trust in them as a customer---Didn't even offer a store credit--Just kept lecturing me how he would lose money!!! Especially after I had spent thousands of dollars with them last year! On top of it! They kept the Merchandise and made no attempt to give it back to us before we left the store!! Now, it will have to go to the Credit Card as a dispute but can you guys believe all this for a lousy $300?? How petty they were/are! There was no pressure, and I noticed his attention to detail and quality. After getting estimates from other companies, Concept Materials had a competitive estimate and I felt they would do the best quality work. This job involved replacing a cheap vinyl wood floor with durable SPC. The scope was a living room, 4 steps, and a hallway. Each day two guys arrived on time. Because the subfloor was not flat, they had to pour concrete to level the floor. Overall, they did an excellent job and cleaned everything well. Like many projects there were some unexpected issues, and Gene handled each issue quickly with a good solution.

I wish I got more updates during construction but they sent them whenever I asked. I liked that they were very contentious about talking with my neighbor when their van was blocking a little bit of their driveway--a lot of contractors wouldn't bother. I also had another neighbor who was causing some issues and they kept me in the loop, which I appreciated. - Price: I talked to several contractors and their price was pretty reasonable--not the lowest nor the highest, more in the middle. Cons: - After construction, I noticed some damage on parts that were supposed to be protected. They were minor damages, but annoying. The most noticeable one was a dent on my TV, which left a white dot that I see every time I turn on my TV, which sucks. - In terms of details, I noticed that there were some dings in pretty noticeable parts of the wood. I don't know if it was the crew or the wood came like that, but when I was testing a wood sample before purchasing, I hit the wood with a hammer and it didn't leave a mark, so it would take a lot of force to leave a dent like the one pictured. Kinda disappointing because the dent is smack in the middle of a high traffic area. Some last notes: - David came by to do a final walk through and helped me move some of the heavier furniture back. It didn't bother me but if you're expecting furniture to be put back the way it was originally, you'll want to manage your expectations. - You should definitely hire painters and cleaners after the construction--I didn't think the walls were going to be as scuffed up as they were. And everything will be superrrr dusty, even if it's covered. - When I expressed concern about not all baseboards being replaced, which I thought was the scope of work, he explained that he told his crew to use existing baseboards when possible. He said he did this to save me some cost and offered me $150 to cover the savings. I generally feel positive about this, although if I hadn't mentioned it I don't think it would've come up, so take that for what it's worth.
