Two months later, a handyman fixed it for $150 by replacing the ignitor, which wasn't the problem because it was the problem, and that's the beauty of this catch: the part you need is always the part they don't sell, and the part they sell is always the part you don't need.

Most impressive was what that rather than simply proceeding with a more expensive multi-part replacement, the technician did additional research, came back with a better solution, and was able to repair the existing board. That eliminated the need for one of the expensive replacement parts, got the freezer working in hours instead of days, and cut the repair cost. The freezer is now working exactly as it should. I feel like it is harder than ever to find service providers who are true professionals that would do right by the customer over taking an easy way to charge more.
